Coming from Illinois, this description of Bama sounds like paradise. Three more years for my pension and me in the Fam are happily moving to Bama.

The worst part I hate living in Al. is tax payers have to pay their taxes by 04/15, but if you are owed a refund, well... good luck getting it by that date.

I kinda agree with you but huntsville & Birmingham give you those big boxes and entertainment you’re speaking of. The south & western half of our state is where the lack mainly happens.

I agree with you about everything EXCEPT the traffic. We moved here two years ago from the Washington DC metro area and live outside Huntsville. The first thing we noticed was the total lack of traffic congestion. It’s a breeze driving here compared to up north. I often boast to family back north how NON existent the traffic is here. I LOVE that about Alabama ❤ I agree about missing IKEA. Thanks for your video. ❤

My “worst part” of living in Bama: it’s getting more popular (populous)! As far as amenities lacking, you must not ever come to Birmingham! Plenty of upscale shopping, live music (especially at Iron City and Avondale Brewing, as well as big acts at BJCC or Oak Mtn), and a culinary scene that ranks up there with MUCH bigger cities. You can’t throw a rock without hitting a restaurant that has a James Beard winner or at least nominee!

Alabama and Mississippi is the same except Alabama have better college sports and You are closer to Nashville and Atlanta for professional sports. I move to the suburbs of Birmingham so I don't mind driving or flying to either. But since I'm more of a outdoors person Alabama is killing Mississippi with scenery and outdoors activities. I'm from Mississippi btw.

I’m down here on the Alabama gulfcoast (Mobile) it, rains a lot down here, even in the winter time it rains, and in summer time you have to plan yard work around the rain, but hey we have Mardi Gras, good seafood, carnival cruises (Alabama cruise terminal) we are on the water and very close to Alabama beaches and also Florida beaches.

I’m an Alabamian; born and raised here. Please don’t think I’m hating on you, but I disagree with you on some of your talking points. You live in one of the most desired cities in Alabama. Real Estate is booming in Auburn. As far as stereotypes, yes, there are “white trash” here and there. However, my daughter attended Auburn from ’14 to ’18, and earned her civil engineering degree. The first time I moved my daughter into the dorms, I noticed the car tags; Vermont, New Hampshire, California, Oregon, and a plethora of Georgia tags. Why attend Auburn if you buy into tihe “stupid” redneck? Tornadoes have been prevalent since I was a child; 24/7 MSM sensationalizes, and don’t forget social media. The last hoje I buil had a “safe room” built. It;s a master closet, however, it’s not noticeable from the outside or inside of the home. What gives it away, is the heavy steel door only used in an emergency. For safety, I believe 6K was reasonable. Looks like a typical closet. . College football {SEC rocks} makes-up for lacking NFL. The NFL is dying because of their disrespect of our country, and their entitled attitude. As far as shopping, new stores are being built. Foley has an amazing outlet with outstanding stores and great prices. Here’s a sampling: Coach, Kate Spade, Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren, etc. What’s awesome is it’s only a afew miles from Gulf Shores. Concerts: Metallica along with Creed came to the BJCC in ’99….know that’s a way back. However, Gulf Shores has the “Hangout Festival,” that draws bug names, and up and coming artist. It’s broadcast on MTV. I agree the summers can be unbearable, especially after an afternoon rain; it literall feels like a sauna. People in Alabama can’t drive worth a crap, and have the belief that black ice doesn’t exist. The good news is Alabama aware of the issues with traffic. My daughter works at ALDOT. They stay busy.’’’ Please forgive my dissertation. I just want you to love Alabana! Great video’1

Interesting, I knew of a casino on I65 at Atmore, which is also WindCreek; as well as a gaming place, of sorts, south of Dothan on US 231. Grew up in both Decatur, and Metro Atlanta area, and traffic, by far, then was worse in Hotlanta! (Took I65 forever because of migratory studies on the Tennessee River, so the ducks didn't crash into the bridge!). Great overall, though...oh, in Arizona now...as for the "dry heat", tell that to my armpits!! :)

The most important thing to Alabamians, is football ! More important than anything else. It's worshipped like a god. I can say that, because I live here. Federal money, usually goes to building a new football stadium, as opposed to education. Or, something more beneficial

I have lived in Huntsville for 15 years now. Came from Michigan. I have really been enjoying the fact that since Mark Emmertt stepped down as CEO of the NCAA and University Of Alabama couldn’t operate with impunity anymore violating NCAA rules and Having unfair advantage no other team in college football had with the NCAA looking the other way for 12 years while Saban CHEATED his way to one National Championship after another, … all of a sudden Michigan won the National Championship. First of all, Alabama didn’t even belong in the playoffs with FSU sitting over there undefeated. Not being able to cheat anymore Saban retired, huh, ….weird. I guess It’s just not as much fun to have to compete fair and square. I think that Alabama Football, (as far as U of A goes), is going to recede back into mediocrity again. IF the NCAA ever investigates that Emmertt - Saban connection, those Alabama National titles between 2010 and 2023, should be stripped. So bottom line is, is Alabama football really “all that” without cheating? No. No it isn’t. And that National title count fans like to throw in everybody’s face? That could go away, because Alabama doesn’t really have that many. But besides football, my wife and I have really enjoyed having our Saturday shopping trips bouncing around all over town, practically all to ourselves. It sure has been quiet here lately….bless your hearts.
