This is reassuring. So many reviews say you need to spend at least $700 for it to be worth it. But when you just want to be on the water and have some fun every weekend or two I hope these 300-400 boards will be enough.

This channel brings up a super important point. Gear makes a huge difference! I opted for a $699 paddle board ($784 plus shipping and tax) from a local company’s website, and it came with a huge and durable bag that has roller wheels and backpack straps as well, and it fits all my gear and pump along with the paddle board. I read hundreds of Amazon reviews stressing over what gear part might break in the $350-$450 range. I probably could have bought nicer gear/pump separately, but it was nice to get all the stuff included, and the pump is manual but it only takes about 5 mins to pump up (for reference I’m 5’7 and not muscular lol)

my partner found an Aqua Cruz paddleboard at Aldi's for $99. We're on the 2nd year now of use and just got done taking it out on the lake. Would definitely not be spending $400+ on a paddelboard, unless we did this multiple times a week. But for us casual lake and river floaters, it's awesome.

I purchased a generic paddleboard off Amazon for under $200 a couple years ago because I wasn't sure if it was something I would stick with. Now we have 3 of same. A good friend purchased one like it last year and out of the box it had a leak around the fin. Our 3 have been great, heading into 3rd season with them with no problems! Mine even held 2 of us for a day when we discovered the leak in my friends board lol. I stay mainly in creeks and springs with them, so they've survived lots of collisions with stumps and downed trees. When mine finally wears out, I won't hesitate to invest a little more $$ in one, but my cheap one has been fantastic! Bags and pumps still work as well, but I did invest in an electric pump this year

EDIT: Removed my first part, since I noticed you did it right with the valves ;D But, a tip for inflating stuff fast: Use the low-pressure/high-volume part of the electric pump as far as it goes (so basically the board is filled but not rigid), and then use a handpump for the last PSIs.
@IntergalacticMotoBandits3 жыл бұрын
We'll take all the help with valves that we can get! 😂 It seems like no matter what we do, one of our boards will always let loose with air the second we disconnect from the pump. Could be time for a new valve? That is such a good idea for when using an electric pump!! And makes the hand pumping more reasonable. Thanks for the tip🙌
@johnhall74752 жыл бұрын
Harbor Freight has the Bauer rechargeable inflator for about $20. Mine will *soft inflate* an 11' ISUP in about a minute. Then, I switch to the manual pump ("double stage=red stopper in; then single stage=stopper out) to proper PSI indicated on the dial. 4 minutes (total!) is average...5 minutes max. ,which is a pretty big deal for me (I hardly ever go beyond 12p.s.i.). I currently own 21 ISUP's, and I like to accommodate group paddleboarding EcoTours in Alabama's River Region.
@johnhall74752 жыл бұрын
@@IntergalacticMotoBandits Your valve is likely perfectly fine. It's designed to dump all air pressure by depressing the plastic stem, and can "lock" in that setting (handy!). This probably is your situation. EZ REMEDY: Depress them, rotate it slightly (think as 10 minutes on a clock) then release. Be gentle, fidget with it a bit, and you will be blessed with powerful knowledge; you'll see what makes it work! The valve will re-set to the air-tight mode. Index finger is all it takes, and less time than typing this. Now, go have fun on your board...you got this , and *peace of mind*. That's a good thing.
@rickardbergh54312 жыл бұрын
Some iSUP hand pumps have valves/plugs that lets you pump double-action initially, and when it's gets too hard you open the valve for stronger single-action pumping mode.

The great part about your height and experience level is that you will probably be really comfortable on a smaller board (around 10'-6" long, 31" wide). I have been so happy with the Aqua Marina in terms of carrying it onto the water, sometimes in really windy conditions! Possibly more important then the board, is definitely get a great bag for carrying! Red Paddle Co has a great bag with all-terrain wheels, but its really expensive! I'm sure there's more affordable options out there with the same idea. Also definitely get an electric pump that way you don't do anything to aggravate your back before getting out on the water! With the cheap pump, since there is no gauge, is there much of a risk of over inflating?
@IntergalacticMotoBandits3 жыл бұрын
It would be really difficult to do because by the time you get to around 13 psi there's quite a bit of force required. I find it difficult to get my board all the way up to 15 psi when pumping by hand. That being said, I don't like to risk it! I bought an adapter ($7 on Amazon) which allows me to double check psi using a pressure gauge. That way, whether we inflate by hand or using the electric pump, I always have a backup way to check psi. Another option would be to purchase a new inexpensive pump when the old one fails and store it inside. We kept ours in a storage shed which I'm sure accelerated the deterioration. Hope that answers your question. Good luck and have fun!

Hey, great question! That board looks great, and we really like Serenelife. We have their electric air pump and its super high quality. The width of the board is nice because it's going to be helpful for balance. The only thing, is it is on the smaller side, so in order for it to handle its best, it's probably suited for someone 200 lbs or less. That's not to say you won't be able to exceed that (with passengers and bags and such), we've just found its really important to allow some wiggle room in what the manufacturer is setting the max weight capacity as. All in all, looks like a really good buy!

My first iSUP cost me $300 and lasted me 5-years with A LOT of abuse and UV rays. I consider myself an expert after many years of the sport and would never consider getting anything that costs more than $300.

Great Reviews! Leash? PFD? I work as an ICU RN and see many near drownings/drownings every year from people that don't wear their leash and/or their pfd.

Thank you so much and yes, good call! Those are essential accessories and really should be included in everyones bag🙌
@johnhall74752 жыл бұрын
It's the LAW in Alabama, to have PFD on your paddleboard; you don't have to be wearing it. On a flowing river, I always use PFD, but opt out of the (ankle)leash because of submerged trees/debris that could hang you. OK for a lake, and wise if you're in surf. Insure that first of all, you CANNOT drown, err on the side of good judgment.

Good question!!! Our new procedure when packing up is to quickly towel dry before putting them away and then giving them another rinse off with the hose once we get home. On a hot day, usually by the time we hit the beach they are already dry again, but depending on the water they can definitely get a bit smelly.

Hello. I'm looking to buy my first sup. Do you believe that the GlobalExpress Blue Sea Ride 9.10" is a good option?
@IntergalacticMotoBandits3 жыл бұрын
Very exciting! So depending on your size, the length of that board may feel really small. Out of all our boards, the two 11' boards feel the best in terms of balance/comfort for people around 185 to 220 lbs. For a smaller person (maybe under 150lbs), I think that board would be totally fine! Also, I'm not familiar with that brand, but the specifications look good! Hope that helps!

Thank you so much for this. My family has been looking at sups for over a year waiting to be able to afford a good quality one because everywhere said not to buy cheap but you made a good point, why wait to have an expensive board when we could be making good memories now on cheap ones. I actually stopped your video at that point, got on the phone to my sister and we found one with over 2000 reviews 4.5 stars for only £149. We ordered one each and they will arrive Wednesday lol x

10 things you should know before buying a cheap inflatable paddleboard: * Durability: Cheap inflatable paddleboards are surprisingly durable. They can withstand bumps and scrapes, even against piers, without popping or denting. The boards come with repair kits, but the speakers have never had to use theirs. * Weight Capacity: It's important to pay attention to the weight capacity of the board. Subtract 25% from the stated capacity to determine the actual safe weight limit. This includes your body weight, any gear, and passengers. * Affordability: Inflatable paddleboards are the cheapest way to get on the water. The speakers purchased theirs for around $230-$350. * Functionality: These boards may be cheap, but they function well. They float, they're stable, and they get the job done. * Portability: One of the biggest advantages of inflatable paddleboards is their portability. They can be easily deflated and packed into a bag, fitting in the trunk of a car, under a sink, or in a closet. * Included Accessories: Inflatable paddleboards typically come with a paddle, a pump, and a bag. The paddle floats, which is a nice safety feature. * Bag Quality: The bags that come with the boards are often the weakest point. They may only last a few trips before tearing, especially if exposed to the sun. * Pump Quality: The included pumps are also not very durable. The seals may leak, and the pump may break after a year or so, even with careful storage. * Pumping Time: Inflating the boards can be time-consuming and tiring, taking around 15 minutes per board with the included hand pump. * Valve Position: Pay attention to the position of the valve when inflating or deflating the board. The valves can be inconsistent, and it can be frustrating to lose air after pumping.

So do you recommend the ROC?
@IntergalacticMotoBandits3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! Out of all the boards we have in our group, that one probably has the best bag and we've never had any issues with the board itself. I also just really like the look of it. Only downside is its in the higher price range for a budget board.

Hi guys , awesome details . I will like to know about the advenor 11x36x6 any idea if is worth to buy . I'm buying one to ride with the kids . I read that 11 long will be better for holding more weight. But I can't find anything about this advenor sup. Thanks in advance

Glad to hear it! The Advenor is a great ride and has a high weight capacity which is great for riding with kids👍 The one thing I've noticed is that it doesn't feel nearly as sturdy as our Goplus, so typically when we double up on passengers, we'll use the Goplus. That being said, the Advenor has been a great value and comes with a nicer bag compared to some of the others. Hope this helps!

@IntergalacticMotoBandits3 жыл бұрын
@@MIKELOVEPB That one looks ok, but the weight capacity is a little low. There's another Goplus that's white and blue on Amazon for $249.99, and has a weight capacity of 330. They also have a few others including the one we have (link in the description). But by far what is going to make the biggest impact is that weight capacity, so whichever 11' board you choose, try to get the weight capacity as high as you can!

I would like an inflatable board not because it is cheap. I want one that I can transport to the water in my car otherwise I wouldn't be able to paddle at all. Inflatable seems appropriate for me since I'm not paddling any races but want to enjoy a nice relaxed time on the water.
@IntergalacticMotoBandits3 жыл бұрын
That's so true! Inflatables, regardless of the price, are definitely better suited for transporting and if you're looking for a relaxing day on the water, they are perfect. Check out Bote, they make wonderful high end inflatables with a ton of accessories. We have been drooling over their boards for a while now but they're just too far outside of our budget right now.
