Kids and young musicians today are so lucky to have people like David helping them learn about creating music. Even back in the 90s, it was so much more difficult, and I took a music theory class in high school just because I wanted to write pop songs (and was frustrated about how little I actually learned about that). The amount of musical education people can receive now thanks to KZbinrs like David Bennett, Rick Beto and Adam Neely is absolutely amazing. I can't wait to hear the music kids growing up in this type of environment create.

Don't forget us old-timers! I have fiddled with music since I was a kid, but so many concepts of music theory and songwriting were kept in musty old tomes and couched in esoteric terminology. David and others like him have allowed me to not only grasp a lot of these concepts, but also appreciate music I have been listening to my whole life at a deeper level.

Great vid! Just a minor correction though from a cybersecurity guy: the "stolen cookies" you were referring to are what are called "session tokens". Your browser doesn't save your password when you log in (except for password managers, but that's separate). Instead, when you log in, a website assigns you a session token which is basically like a random password that only works for as long as you are logged in. That way, like how KZbin did, the website can revoke or "expire" that token to make you have to log in again in case they think you've been compromised. Basically, you're sending them that token every time you click on a new page, and the website will check it to make sure it's still accepting that token as "you".

I came across your 'Beatles and modes' video about a year ago and have since watched a plethora of your other videos. As others have mentioned in the comments section previously, you really are a highly skilled communicator and teacher; for example after watching your "Modes and Norwegian Wood" video, I understood how modes work and coudd work them out for that and other songs. I'm surprised, incidentally, that female viewers are about 10%. May your channel continue to prosper!

I was also surprised at that. I find it a very female- and general-audience-friendly channel, and to have such a low proportion of us watching seems odd. Maybe the recommendations just aren't getting to enough of us...

The more I see from you, the more I llike your channel: The way you are able to explain musical theory in a practical way, your musical abilities, the fact that you are vegan as well as you only promote products of which you are convinced, not only product wise, but also in a ethical way. Wold the world have more people like you, it would be a much better place. Thanks, (Switzerland was not on the list, but that's where I am located).

Hey David, I am one of the "new german followers" that is causing the spike of people in Germany in the last months. Since July I have watched literally more than a hundred of your videos, because I want to write songs for my band and really need to up my music theory skills. Your videos have helped me a lot, you have a great way of explaining by example and with song sources. I never would have learned so much in such a short time. You are a great teacher - thank you very much 🙂 BTW: I actually know this "Wunderschön" show, although it runs only on a rather detached TV programme often more targeted to elderly people (we call that "Drittes Programm" or "3rd programme"), because my to be mother-in-law watches that sometimes. I do not know that specific episode, but I am going to search it :-)

I found this channel by accident looking for stuff to help with teaching my daughter piano and now it's one of the ones I make sure to look out for new material. I've been involved in music in some way since I was 8 years old (I'm 53 now) and my theory knowledge wasn't nearly as strong as it could have been. I've learned more about theory from you than I ever did from several music educators. I wish I had your circle of fifths explanation when I was a struggling horn player in high school trying to transpose on the fly. The IT Professional in me cringed when you spoke of your hacking incident. Maybe it's just me but soon as you started talking about it the flags went up. I'm sorry it happened to you and I'm glad it didn't cause significant damage. Please don't stop. Your stuff is awesome!

David, you and my favorite artist, Mitski, have awakened an old passion and love for music that I've had ever since I was a kid, but have always repressed. I used to make up songs in my head as a kid, and would have secret concerts for my siblings. However, ever since I was told music isn't a "real man thing", I tried to bury that passion. When I met Mitski, and her uncaring love for music despite being told she's "weird", I found myself in love with music again. And funny enough, when I didn't know where to start, you were there. You just popped up randomly on my youtube feed, with one of those "Songs that use the (i don't remember which one) chord progression". Your teaching is clear, precise, and has a fun design, format and aesthetic that I've always loved. A college friend of mine told me God would always lead you back to your purpose in life, no matter how far you try to run away from it, and I want to believe this is mine. Thank you for being so kind and modest to share your knowledge. I've started writing my own songs thanks to you. I'm sure there's a lot of people you inspire through your videos, and I hope you know how thankful those people are with you, how much purpose you bring to everyone watching. If I ever make it as an artist one day, I'll sure be on the interviews saying I owe this all to Mitski and David Bennett Piano lol

Really, really cool personal video. I do not play piano, but I am a working musician that is always in search of more theory knowledge. Your channel has helped me flesh out a few ideas that were foreign to me (I'm self-taught), so I appreciate that. Watching your videos are like mini college lectures that I never had the money to pay for! I thank you for that.

This channel is epic. Love it. I have learned so much here. The best one was on did the Beatles know music theory. Great stuff. If I were to think of writing music, most of your videos would be a tool to do that with. Keep it going.

Germany, that'll be me watching your videos manically every day 😂 Grüßen aus Nordrhein Westfalen David. I used to live in Croydon very near Brighton and I know the bookings manager of Abbey Road (she's retired now) ❤ Just to say how grateful I am for your channel. It's answered so many questions and helped me understand music and given me the confidence to play better as well. Just lots of things. Your story reminds me that there are people out there waiting for the gift I have. Keep going David, it's such a joy to be part of your growth. ❤

What I didn't know about you was how confident you were at talking to people - in LPW you were quiet as a mouse. I also didn't know how much you loved the Beatles (some good conversations missed there, as I'm a fellow Beatles fanatic). Finally, what I didn't know about you what quite how extensive your musical knowledge is and how fantastic a teacher/communicator you are. I can't believe how successful you've become and I think it's richly deserved. Well done, mate!
