Not just that but watching Johnny 5 in a damaged state and leaking fluids and such. It nearly brought me to tears. It was like watching someone dying but had so much adrenaline that they ignore any wounds they had until they did what they had to do despite there dire situation. It was gut punching painful.

@@mathieuduval7544 You might have heard it from me honestly, I have been around the block in the metal community for 15 years now with this name, I had changed it from an album from a metal band called Diabolical Masquerade named "Deaths Design". It's also mentioned in a movie called "brain scan" as the title of the game he is playing. "It's been decided you will play "Death by Design". That's the actual line from the movie btw. Huh has Minty done that one yet? It seems like something he could have covered before.

@@mathieuduval7544 Oh my God this annoying! I just wrote like a paragraph and a half and it all just disappeared, can you see it because I sure can't? Anywa,y I was saying that I actually took the name from a metal band called Diabolical Masquerade and their album "Deaths Design". Also it was in a movie called "Brainscan" and the actual line was: "It's been decided, you will play death by design" and that's probably the only place I have heard it, though I think it has also been mentioned in the "Final Destination" movies. I'm also wondering if Minty has covered any of these movies yet, it seems like he might have.

@AnalyticalMenace that was the point. To show he was alive. Hence the lead up to the end. the practical effects of these movies is so good it still holds up today. no one would go through that effort nowadays. J5 wouldve been 90% CGI and be soulless. as is, he is a classic protagonist and the stories arent perfect but they are tight and fast paced with plenty of humor and character progression that make you care the entire way through and you do FEEL that J5 is ALIVE. the scene were hes beaten nearly to death still gets me sad even today. also, his voice was perfect. somehow a great mix of curiosity, energy, love, and even aggression as needed. its such a great experience seeing these movies and how much effort went into making them so good.

Brilliant video Minty - Short Circuit 2 is a favourite in my family. Kenneth Johnson is such a class act and Michael McKean is an astonishingly good actor, the scene where he helps rebuild the dying Johnny 5 is one of THE most powerfully emotional scenes ~ it blows my mind how they created such an intense moment, between a Robot and a hustler sitting on the floor of a radio shack..bloody marvellous cinema! I heard Fisher Stevens describing his process and how he lived with an Indian familiy and had mentoring and guidance throughout filming so that he was respectful and authentic in his role.

I was shocked years later (when the internet became a thing) to learn that Ben was played by a white guy. That is a testament to Fisher Stevens that he could play someone of a different race so convincingly. Props to him, he's a great actor that deserves more recognition.

The best and only one worth watching more than once imo. It really challenged me as a child. One of my first bits of development into adult themes.

As a kid, I actually saw this one before the first. I had a VHS tape with a TV airing of the sequel recorded on it.

This one had so much more going for it than the first one. I love them both dearly, but the second one was always my favorite. 41 year old me still gets misty eyed at Johnny getting beaten nearly to death, where 5 year old me bawled like a baby.

Yes, I've always liked Short Circuit 2... Perhaps not on par with the first one, but It always seemed under-appreciated to me and quite a good movie... Also, as a Kid from British Columbia I knew nothing about the city in the background and when I moved to Toronto when I was 21 I immediately recognized the buildings from the film.... especially since my first Job in Toronto was on the 12th floor of Royal Bank Plaza North - the gold-plated building which stands in for the bank in the film and features prominently in it (and can be seen at 5:25 in this video).

SC-2 ran on a over the air TV channel around 3mo ago. The film fell flat. 1980s. Like a few other cash grabs 🤑. Cocoon, Crocodile Dundee, etc.

The good thing about your videos is that it makes me rethink my own opinions about certain movies that I previously disliked and makes me check them out again to give them another chance. I really would like to see a new Short circuit sequel.

Personally, I prefer this film went in the direction of B-E-N. He spells it Ben. He nails it. “Are you troubled by irregularity?” “Oscar, you will not get away! I am really passed off!” “Kidnap the humans; destroy the machines! Ooooo!!”

I was a kid when this came out and my sister and I used to watch it over and over, more than the first one. Also this film made me fall in love with the Bonnie Tyler song “Holding Out for a Hero” long before Detective Pikachu and the Super Mario Bros. movie would bring it back.

I liked SC2 when i was a kid but it was disappointing not having the two main characters from the first one in it. For what they had to work with, they did about as good as you could do with the sequel.

Having watched this movie before the first one I have more appreciation for it. It has the best use of "Holding out for a hero" too. Coming to the first movie after this one I was very surprised to see Ben was just a side character. The sequel makes it seem like he was the original protagonist.

Liked the first one, who can forget the rewiring to make 1,2,and 3 the three stooges 😂. This one is my favorite. I knew he was alive, I was 8, and loved the lighter tone. Looking back, it's like, why did I feel bad when they were beating him up... but the way it was shot... the battery fluid that looked like blood, him screaming stop... I think I'm more traumatized today. The scramble to fix him with a HELLOOO BABY! Man... I need a hero kicks on and you'd have thought I was swinging with him when he picked up Oscar out the boat... you will NOT get away... I am really pissed off... man good stuff. Ty Minty

No kidding, this is probably still my favorite movie. Has been for 30+ years. And I don't care so much for the original! The creativity of the company Ben was making and the do it yourself nature, combined with the caper nature of the escape... Man, it just hits everything my inner 9 year old loves.
