I’m norwegian and love our royal family. Especially the King, he is well loved for being down to earth and he has lot of humor and warmth. One of my favorite interviews with him and Queen Sonja was about the opening of a new bridge. King: Yes, that was named after you wasn’t it? Queen: *confused* No it wasn’t. It was named «Troll». King: ……. Exactly. Then they both just laugh 😂

Norwegian here, I think you did a good job with the video. 🥰 Of course there could have been a lot more, but that's how it always is. The Norwegian royal house is very young. We were either ruled by Sweden or Denmark for several hundred years. In 1905, King Haakon was elected king of Norway. He was originally a prince of Denmark. We don't have nobility, so no children of princes/princesses get any titles, except for the children of the heir to the throne. 👑
@xhogun8578 Жыл бұрын
The same in the UK. Prince/Princess titles of the UK a royal title normally granted to sons and grandsons of reigning and past British monarchs, together with consort by the letter patent.

@@marblehead2500 Norwegian royals used to marry other royals - not members of nobility. King Olav V married a Swedish princess (his cousin), and King Haakon VII married an English princess (as mentioned in the video - Princess Maud, the daughter of King Edward). @@RoyalNewsNetwork I don't think that criticism against the British Royal Family being, "too stuffy," is warranted. There is one, huge difference overlooked: The Royal Family of Norway is of the Lutheran religion. The British Royal Family (thanks to Charles AND Elizabeth's Tudor Grandfather--Henry VIII) proclaimed himself AND his royal descendants as, "The Head of the Church of England." Other European monarch's are not carrying the mantle of being both Monarch & Head of the Church. [Yes, they DO have authority within the Church of England! Example: When Ultra-Liberal Archbishop Justin Welby announced to the entire nation he believed the true religion for ENGLAND should be changed to Muslim, a very DEFINITE rebuke from The Queen, "No. We won't be doing that. This is a Christian nation founded on Christian religion," ended that bizarre idea. Queen Elizabeth had spoken--and THAT was THAT." It wouldn't be dignified to see the Archbishop of Canterbury & King Charles out in the ocean on their boogie boards, would it? Monaco was Catholic for Princess Grace and Prince Ranier, and now Albert & Charlene--but they aren't the head of the Catholic Church for Monaco--Pope covers that. If it makes you feel better, Charles was once pounced upon by a barely-clad beach bunny, model Jane Priest in a micro bikini, as he came out of the ocean, 1979 in Perth, Australia (when he was quite the handsome, young, eligible bachelor--just before The Nightmare Named Diana made her entry move.) He was quite taken aback, shouting to her, "No. no. I can't touch you!"--and of course, it made the evening news. The British do not act like other royal families, because they are not like other royals.

Not only did Crown Prince Martha live in the States with her kids for 5 years during WW2, but she lived in the white house with President Franklin D. Roosevelt for a while until she found a permanent home in DC. She had a very close relationship with the President. Also Kind Haralds grandmother Queen Maud, was a princess from UK and the sister of late Queen Elisabeth's grandfather. Queen Maud was Queen Victiorias granddaughter. Kind Harald is the closest relative to the UK royal family outside UK as you mentioned, but the way you said it made it look pretty distant. He is queen Elisabeths second cousin.
