Can't believe this movie is almost 30 years old already. It still looks like it could've been made yesterday. Fabulous effects work. Excellent stunt coordination. Incredible action set pieces. When it wants to be a comedy, it's the funniest comedy ever, and when it wants to be an action movie, it's the most action-packed flick EVER! Does both to perfection, and moves so seamlessly between them. Plus, Bill Paxton......what can I say.......best performance of his colorful career. I really miss him.

This is one of my favourite action movies. One thing I really like is the realism, i.e. real jets, real stunts, real explosions. The bridge scenes, including the explosion using miniatures, looked so awesome. I can't imagine what it takes to get these things filmed the way it was. These days, it would have been CGI jets, CGI people doing stunts, CGI explosions. No matter how good the technology gets, you can always tell that something is not 100% real. True Lies is true fun to watch every time.

Anything more would be.........Well........... to be honest we actually probably should've stopped after the first Predator........But my point still stands. You just never know what a sequel may bring to the table. At times they can exceed every expectation and give us some of the best movies in history. The Godfather 2, National Lampoons Christmas Vacation, The Dark Knight. But other times you may get Speed 2, Cruise Control and Dumb and Dumberer. I loved True Lies. I very much wanted a sequel to be made. With the right actors and directors, it may have been even better than the first. Guess we will never know. I think Michelle Pfeiffer could have pulled it off. But I agree none of the others could do both secret agent and average housewife.
@gingerkid10485 жыл бұрын
Patrick McCurry I think Michelle could nail spy but short of giving her the full Charlize in Monster you’re never going to make her look ‘average’.
@dannyblanchflower18825 жыл бұрын
@@gingerkid1048 I think Pfeiffer would have played the average housewife a bit like her role at the beginning Batman Returns. She would have been great in this.
@Scottie_S5 жыл бұрын
@@dannyblanchflower1882 My thoughts as well. She was the average Selina Kyle, but spiced up for the Catwoman portrayal.
@Soul.Is.Willing5 жыл бұрын
@@dannyblanchflower1882 yes michelle would have done great. Like u said in batman she was timid, until she became cat woman. She also played a meek house wife in what lies beneath. But I made a comment saying sharon stone would have been interesting cause she plays Arnolds wife in total recall. She was a spy pretending to be his wife. It would have been a nice/fun flip to watch the roles reversed. But JLC did great.

Quick note: I remember when they where filming because the exterior shots of the galla where the big guy did the tango were filmed in Newport, RI. It was all over the local news. (well, the stations out of Providence)

The Jet Arnold is in is the same prop used in The Avengers. The one that Thor hits the Hulk into during their fight on the helicarrier.

No it isn’t, at all. A Harrier jet was used in True Lies and a Raptor F - 22 jet was used in Avengers, very different

I _love_ this movie. I got made fun of a bit for being a girl who liked "cheesy" action movies. Especially Last Action Hero and Demolition Man. I knew they were good! Btw Minty, the situation there has not left my mind. I'm so sorry for beautiful Australia and I hope the recovery efforts are going well, Your friend from America.

The fighter jets used, were Harrier Jump Jets, capable of vertical take off and landing and really can hang in mid air like that. The Americans were not interested in them, until the UK, who had the planes, used them in the Falklands war with Argentina in 1982.

I first saw this on video, I didn't know what it was, but when I watched, it instantly became a favorite. So many great lines and perfect casting throughout. I can't imagine anyone else in any of the roles. JLC was amazing in how she could go from a regular looking office lady to a total babe with nothing more than some water in her hair and a couple ruffles and her glasses removed. Everyone seemed to be really enjoying their parts. They were acting, of course, but enjoyment seemed to filter through their performances and let the audience enjoy it with them. A great movie of that time, and in so many ways underrated.

Jamie Lee Curtis really fell from the poll during the strip tease scene. That part wasn’t acting but she kept going and it was so funny they kept it in the movie.
