As someone from Western Australia, I love that you've mentioned our beautiful Rottnest Island a couple times in this clip! So many tourists miss us because they focus on places like Sydney and Melbourne, but here in the West we have so many amazing places to choose from! Fun fact: Rottnest Island got it's name because the original settlers thought the Quokkas were large rats, so it was dubbed Rat's Nest Island. Glad it has a different name now, I can't imagine too many people wanting to visit somewhere with that name 😂
@heatherrowles25803 жыл бұрын
This is lifted directly from Wikipedia to save me some typing......fellow Western Australian here....... The island was named by Willem de Vlamingh in 1696, who called it 't Eylandt 't Rottenest ("Rats' Nest Island") after the quokka population. Named by an early explorer, not settlers......and still very much named "rats nest".....we were taught this in primary school.
@AmySmith-to8jt3 жыл бұрын
Interesting! I was always taught it was the settlers that called it that! Just goes to show that teachers don't always know everything! Cheers for the info 🙂

Sydney's southern beaches like Wattamolla, Brighton-ke-Sands, Sans Souci are much better than the northern beaches. Wollongong & the greater Illawarra, Kiama, Gerroa, Gerringong & any of the numerous Jervis Bay beaches are so much more beautiful, cleaner & way less crowded. And Tim Tams are biscuits, not candy. Pretty much hit the nail on the head though with your list. Nice work!

Hi Tristan. How about 10 must do things when travelling to the US. I compare Miami with The Gold Coast, San Francisco with Melbourne and even The Federal Capital of Washington DC with Canberra ( might be a stretch) could be interesting. Even Venice Beach area with Byron Bay. Just a thought of mine.
