Tip : because you said your short : When you cut your jeans above the ankle it will make you look even shorter due to the skin showing. If you want to look tall you want to have an smoth transition from leg to foot and cutting your jeans above ankle interrupts that. (But do what you want, you look beautiful even if you're short.)

I have a very similar sewing machine, and when you are sewing things like the bottoms of a shirt or some sort of circle fabric, you can take part of the bottom part near where the needle is off, so the fabric can sort of rap around the sewing machine. It's a little panel near on the front near where the bobin goes, and it's super easy to put back on when your done. It makes sewing circles so much easier
