Assault of Maho Yamaguchi - On December 8, 2018, NGT48 member Maho Yamaguchi was assaulted by two male fans at her apartment in Niigata Prefecture, Japan. The assailants were arrested and sued by Yamaguchi's management AKS. The case reached an out-of-court settlement of 2.4 million yen and a lifetime ban of the attackers from all AKB48 events. 3. Stabbing of Mayu Tomita - On May 21, 2016, singer and actress Mayu Tomita was stabbed 61 times by a deranged fan with a pocket knife after she rejected gifts he had sent her. She survived the attack, but is partially blind in her left eye and has difficulty eating and singing. Furthermore, she lost the use of her fingers due to the attack. The assailant was sentenced to 14 1/2 years in prison for attempted murder. "I want the criminal to die. If you cannot do that, I want him to be locked up for the rest of his life." - Mayu Tomita
