So Kimi's 2005 Suzuka win from P17 on the grid is ruled out because he was P12 after Lap 1, but Crashgate and a strategic early pit stop from Vettel gets counted? Don't get me wrong, apart from crashgate, all of these were hugely impressive wins, but most required more than a little fortune. Kimi did it on pure pace if i remember correctly, and topping it off with a last lap move around the outside. Flawed criteria imho.

Kimi 17th to 1st at Suzuka 2005 has got to be in the top 3 no questions. Barrichello 18th to 1st at Hockenheim ‘00 also ranks higher than some on this list in my view. Also John Watson’s 17th to 1st at Detroit ‘82 was almost as impressive as Long Beach, on a tight street circuit that others compared to Monaco for overtaking - overtaking 3 cars in a single lap at one stage deep into the race.

I wouldn't necessarily say that Vettel's drive at India in 2013 was "a charge from the back," in a conventional sense, he started from pole, easily had the pace and the only reason he was down in 17th on lap 3 was because he was getting his option tyre phase out of the way and was going to regain the lead when the other Option tyre runners early on pitted regardless. In other words, it was a strategic call, not something that was forced upon him. Kimi Raikkonen's epic charge from 17th on the grid to victory at Suzuka in 2005 on the other hand, that is more worthy of being on the list. Rain in qualifying and an engine change penalty left him down there and he had to climb through the field, including his memorable pass on Fisichella on the final lap

“Trimmed the front wing and fitted a higher top gear” - words you will likely never hear again in respect to a future race. Gearboxes are yet another aspect of variability and tune-ability the sport has robbed from both the teams and the fans in this half-baked turbo-hybrid era. :/

Its perfectly fine to tell a team to have an engine or a certain ammount of cylinders, or to have a turbo, or to even use some kind of hybrid system. But specifying bank angle, bore, stroke number of cams and displacement is way too far. Not to mention the regulations on parts that arent the engine. Ridiculous how restricted our sport has become and hopefully they can deregulate to some extent after 21.

I don’t think the gear ratios matter so much with these engines. They have so much torque and power throughout the rev range that they can set the ratios for the fastest speeds they expect to reach during the season, and not really suffer any issues on shorter straights. They’re often in top gear way before the start/finish line at Monza but still have loads of headroom. That and the fact they now have 8 gears.

How Kimi's 2005 Japanese Grand Prix win was snubbed from this list is beyond me.

Kimi Raikkonen. Japan 2005. Started 17th, finished 1st. Missed that!

Perez's win last season in my eyes was the best out of all shown on this video, he was in a car that was good but wasn't a title challenging car yet he managed to go from last to 1st to take his first ever win! That's incredible! That one race has now changed his entire career as it opened everyone's eyes to just how incredible he is, now that he has made the jump to redbull and is up to speed already, taking a win for redbull already this season also shows just how underrated he really has been! Just to think if redbull didn't take him in place of albon he wouldn't even have a seat in F1, CRAZY!!

I think it's fair to say (though no doubt some would disagree, not that i care), John Watson's winning drive at Long Beach is one of the greatest race wins in all of F1 history.

I totally agree, he outdrove his teammate (the great Niki Lauda) who also drove a fantastic race.

Japan, 1988. Senna dropped to 16th at the start of memory serves me. But rules are rules and 16th is not 17th. That said, all listed victories are awesome. Every now and then I watch Canada 2011.

Perez's was the best. He did it with arguably the 3rd best car at best(remember they were 4th at the end behind mclaren), while others(except fisichella and crashgate renault) were the best or the very close 2nd fastest car.

Perez in respect that the race ran full laps and recovering after the crash huge respect for him and again happening to him in 2021 Bahrain when his car seized up and pit lane start and finishing fifth. Clearing a better driver in terms of handing pressure and crisis much better than max against hamilton.

I know this list requires the car to drop down to the back of the grid but Valencia 2012 was a monster drive to a win. Ferrari was a piece of crap that year, they qualified 11th and 13th on merit but Alonso ended up winning while lapping his teammate who ended up 16th. No genius strategy, car advantage or lotto jackpot luck involved to the level most of the ones suggested had. Pure grit and determination.
