I was surprised not to see CAPOTE (2005) and INFAMOUS (2006). Released less than a year apart, both tell the very specific story of the writing of Truman Capote's breakout "true novel", IN COLD BLOOD. CAPOTE, starring Philip Seymour Hoffman, was the "winner" of the two, as Hoffman took home the Oscar for his portrayal of Truman Capote, but Toby Jones's turn in INFAMOUS was as good, IMHO, and I think that film had a stronger supporting cast, including Sandra Bullock as Capote's friend and researcher Harper Lee. INFAMOUS is certainly less known today, but really, both films are top notch.

There were also two films about Hitchcock, of which Toby Jones played in one. Toby's dealt with his relationship with Tippy Hendren during 'The Birds', while the other film starred Antony Hopkins and was about the making of 'Psycho'. The clip they used from Armageddon was not of peter stomare but of william fichtner. Do they not know actors properly or have even watched the movie. It feels like they are just using reviews of similar movies from the same year.

The Raid and Dredd - Apparently written without knowing of each other. - Both good movies.

A little too close for comfort...both films had villains who skinned people. But yeah, both great...

It blew my mind just now that Armageddon was more successful than Deep Impact. I always thought Deep Impact was superior in every way.

When I saw both movies I thought to myself - Armageddon is total crap. Deep Impact was far mor realistic. At that time I didn't know who Michael Bay was and that his style of telling a story was just the way it is. Fact is I can not watch Deep Impact anymore - it's too depressing for me while Armageddon is a fun movie you can watch once a year and makes you feel happy again and again. Mainly if can talk with the actors line for line. :D

Does that mean Hans just floats instead of getting dropped off that building lol.

@@rogermazuca4582 not necessarily, but it would be much more hilarious if Bruce Willis's character says Yippie kaiye before exploding the asteroid

In 2004, there were the movies First Daughter and Chasing Liberty. Both were about a president's daughter seeking normalcy and shenanigans outside of her sheltered public life, while befriending and falling for their uncover secret service agents.

I’ve noticed this before that very similar movies are released the same time. Since these movies take years to develop and produce does this mean competing studios are aware of what their competitors are developing and make their own version?

I remember a bunch of these because I worked at a movie theater from 2004-2010 and still got free movie tickets from manager friends up until about 2016... I was always confused how there would some how always be two very similar movies at the same time and one was usually better.

What is the background music.. from around 1:35? It sounds like a Hungarian folk-song.
