I remember when I started first diving and it was in Hawaii and there was one day that we were diving but we are on the boat and we're about 5 mi out in the South Pacific and there was a humpback whale and was about a hundred yards out and the boat captain said if you want you can get into the water but you cannot get any closer because they're protected so we put on our gear and we got into the water and guess what it came very close to us and all I can say is they are huge and for the most part they are very docile so that's an experience that I'm never going to forget and that's where I became certified Open water to 200 ft In 2004...

Then the orcas feed on the calf. Cruel, yes, but nature can seem cruel in the way that she balances the numbers of her species. Predation is a major way to control numbers of species.
