Kurt getting manhandled was part of the story, as he was afraid of the Undertaker. His character was a coward at this point. The double DQ in the Brock match was there to make them both look strong. Brock had never been pinned or submitted, and Undertaker was his most credible threat. They used it to continue the storyline, with Brock eventually beating Taker in Hell in Cell. That's just two things wrong with this list.

Why is it that whenever an established, money draw beats a young upstart it’s considered a burial? Angle wasn’t hurt AT ALL by Taker beating him. And Taker is literally one of those guys who should almost never get beat. In fact, arguably the best part about Taker’s lore is that he didn’t get beat for 2 decades at Mania.

It's daft isn't it🙄 taker destroyed Angle fully loaded, one month later Angle was in the main event of Summerslam against Rock and HHH, he won the wwf title 2 months later at No Mercy and Beat Taker at Survivor series to retain the Championship. Angles involvement in this list was useless.

Reading Bob Holly's book and watching an old Kanyon shoot really shed some light on the whole DDP situation. Page, bless his heart, managed to put his foot in it so many times without realizing it. Basically: 1) DDP hugged Vince the first time he saw him. This was considered a sin (look what happened to Titus) whilst DDP thought he was being friendly. That was strike 1 which got him heat. 2) DDP instantly pitched a feud for him vs The Rock. This was seen as a WCW guy coming in and trying to worm his way into a feud with the biggest star in the company whilst DDP thought it just made sense seeing as they were both People's Champion. That was strike 2 which earned him an Undertaker feud designed to teach him a lesson. 3) DDP handed The Undertaker a full script laying out their entire match. This was seen as the ULTIMATE sign of disrespect because Undertaker is the veteran and he is the one who's meant to lay out the match (WWE would parody this moment years later when Daniel Bryan wrote down their gameplan when he teamed up with the Brothers of Destruction vs The Shield.) DDP however didn't know it was such a huge No No, he'd previously been scripting out his matches with Savage in WCW and wasn't aware that not everyone laid out their matches in the back. This was strike 3 and earned him the Sara burial and the cage match burial. Vince saw DDP as this egomaniac who wanted to feud with his top talent and tell his most respected veteran how their match was going to go. DDP was just applying all the stuff he'd learned in WCW and never meant to cause offense. Undertaker didn't purposefully set out to bury him, but was ticked off after the scripting incident. Kanyon said later that after DDP got fired, someone stopped Taker in a parking lot and asked him what happened, Taker turned round and said that "there's a certain way we do things round here, some people come in with their own ideas, those people usually don't last." In the end, everyone is cool with each other now. It's all water under the bridge. It was just a series of massive misunderstandings that shouldn't have gone down like that at all.

Let's don't forget that Vince hated WCW to begin with and probably had no plans to really push their big stars. DDP (along with Booker T) was one of the biggest stars of WCW to make the jump shortly after Vince bought WCW. However, there's no doubt in my mind that the WCW talent had no idea how things worked backstage at WWE when they went there.

Best statement every made about the undertaker by another wrestler: "In WWE there are two mountains for a new guy; on top of one is the Undertaker, throwing down ropes and yelling 'grab hold and I'll pull you up' and on the other is everyone else in the upper echelon of wwe, throwing down boulders and saying 'get off my mountain!!!" I think sir, you've misjudged the undertakers moments, considering there is almost noone who speaks ill of him.

Some do have truth to them, like when he said He wasn’t feeling it when jobbing to Brock or telling Punk to wear a suit. I said a lot because most of these points he made are based on what he feels and some are true. Read the post next time before you comment. And Trips and Cena also have the same deal; some are true (The Kliq and Summerslam 2010 are good examples) and some are pure speculation.

Honestly, the DDP thing was unforgivable, that was SUCH a one-sided feud, did DDP even get the better of Taker or even get a pinfall on him even once during that feud? Taker had so much backstage pull, he could've changed the finish and put DDP over but he didn't. WWE was pissed that WCW almost put em out of business so they buried most of the talent and made em look like jokes. Remember how Tazz got owned by Austin? TAZ? The Human Wrecking Machine of ECW? And DDP, as a huge a star he became in WCW, he was reduced to the midcard with that stupid stalker gimmick. DDP even said they wouldn't let him use most of the quotes and things that got him over. I think this was Vince's ego at work and Taker, being such a loyal WWE guy was Vince's go to guy for that. Originally DDP wanted to feud with Rock, with Rock, he has no ego & doesn't play politics, he would've put DDP over no questions asked.

Well, Taz was damaged goods by that time and he was too small for Vince to ideally see as a credible threat to his boys like Taker, Rock, Austin, Trips etc. As bad ass Taz was at the Rumble against Angle, he clearly saw better days physically. As for DDP? He was doomed from the start. Sucks because he chose to jump ship instead of sitting at home like the nWo, Sting and Goldberg.

I always liked Biker Taker more than the Deadman. He was actually able to have some sort of personality. I think he would have benefitted from being the biker in the last 3-4 years since his personality could have carried him even though his physical ability had declined so much. In his Deadman person he'd grunt, roll his eyes back, and say "rest in peace", every time was the same thing. Not to mention it's literally a relic of a bygone era, it just seemed out of place compared to the rest of the roster.

This sounds more like a "I hate Biker Taker" with no real depth to any of this nonsense. Also, Wrestler's Court was something that the wrestlers used to resolve disputes because they respected Undertaker to treat them fairly. Almost none of them complain of him ever doing anything even slightly wrong. This is a bunch of nonsense. Period. Another thing... "He seemed genuinely annoyed" about DDP. So basically, if he does a good job at making you believe he is in-character (which he is famous for), it is a bad thing???? Utter lunacy and stupidity in this video.
@OGXenos

Wrestlers Court was designed to punish people the locker room ganged up on. No fairness involved. Undertaker was the leader because Vince gave him the most backstage power. Mark could murder somebody and Vince would help cover it up. And it's also no secret that Undertaker had some unknown vendetta against Dallas backstsge, as Dallas was booked as a sexual creep and got solidly buried, many suspect because he tried to send a script to Mark. Re-educate yourself on WWE history.

What a B.S. list. Undertaker didn't pull any stroke with Lesnar during their first feud. Their first PPV match ending in double DQ with Undertaker getting the better of the situation was merely to build momentum into their Hell In A Cell match where Undertaker put Lesnar over, big time. It's called "pro wrestling", guys. Angle was an upstart greenhorn when he lost against Taker and was simply paying dues. DDP, like EVERY guy WCW made was brought in for the same reasons all of them were; initial shock factor, quick money, and ultimate humbling in the almighty WWE. Not one person who came in from WCW avoided this routine, though Booker T was able to make friends with the right people and stick around for a legit run. Goldberg was probably the closest to an exception, but once again, at the end of the day he no longer has the perk of being the one guy who beat WWE-made Brock and never lose to him. Sting, who avoided coming into WWE for years because of fear of being buried, finally came in, and was BURIED. The one entry on this joke of a list that is somewhat legitimate is the Kronik thing. They were only brought in because of their friendship with Taker, and were horrible. Bad business and a case of a guy calling in a personal favor. But, after all Undertaker has given this business and specifically Vince, I think he's entitled to a couple of those. Finally, I don't think Kanyon was disliked because he was gay. That seems to be the popular consensus and an easy out for the situation. Again, he was WCW-made. All those guys were brought in for the lone purpose of being food for the machine that WWE was the ultimate dog and WCW guys were trash. Back to Sting, he's the most recent reminder; brought in over a decade after the Monday Night Wars were won by WWE and all the commentators were instructed to talk about was how much WCW sucked and all their guys were second-rate nobodies. And of course, Sting jobs to Mr. Stephanie McMahon in his first appearance. Pathetic.

but when you get to what Taker's popularity, you can choose whether or not to go through with certain finishes. Rock changed the outcome of SummerSlam 2002 so Brock could beat him by pinfall to put Lesnar over as a passing of the torch. The original ending was him losing via DQ thanks to Heyman and being injured relinquishes the title the next day on RAW. Rock sold his idea to Vince and Brock got the title. Now, look at the Taker/DDP feud, that in no way benefitted DDP. The feud was all Taker, they barely even had a match at KOTR and Sara ended up pinning DDP. They turned DDP into a joke, which was a shame because the fans lost their shit when DDP revealed himself as the stalker. They took a huge star from WCW and despite fans loving him, turned him into some pervy dude so Taker could kick his ass, that was basically the feud in a nutshell lol. Taker could've easily said to Vince, how about I put over DDP to show he's a legit threat in WWE but he didn't. DDP even said he had went over ideas with Taker and Taker wasn't really interested. DDP also said that he already didn't wanna be there after he was in the company because of how WWE guys were treating him backstage. He really wanted to work with Rock so it would be WWE's Peoples Champion versus WCW's Peoples Champion (which honestly would've been way better of a feud to have) but they paired him with Taker. And honestly if they were gonna go through with that s/l, it would've made more sense for someone like Raven to be the stalker than DDP, only if they weren't planning on having this s/l so one-sided. Ironically enough, people have criticized Cena, HBK, HHH, Hogan or Nash of backstage politics, pretty sure if this video was about any of them, nearly everyone would agree with Simon lol but of course, most people love Taker, they'll give him a pass here lol

Never heard a bad thing about taker, even from the big crybabies I’ve ever listened to. This is just wc trying to put up a top ten list that’s gonna get a ton of watches, they did a great job naming the video, but I’d say there isn’t any proof to most of these. Except the DDP and Lesnar ones, those were mistakes on taker’s part, but the DDP one sounds more like a Vince trying to bury WCW talent plan more than one of taker’s. So in my honest opinion I’d say taker made the mistake with Angle and Lesnar. Those were probably only because they were both so new in the business, and his character had built as basically unstoppable for 8-10 years at that point.

Tbh just being in mania with taker was a huge spot. Let alone winning. While I personally don't approve of Lesnar beating Taker at mania it was one of the biggest rubs they could've given him. Same with Reigns. Just being in a match with Taker alone was a huge thing.

Ministry Taker is slightly overrated (IMO). Sure he has had classic moments, but his matches compared to Deadman Returns were sub par, and DR also had it's fair share of moments. Looking back at his matches from when he 1st debuted, they were kinda bad compared to the rest of them especially at WM. Biker Taker was when he started to evolve as a wrestler, showing a more raw and hardcore side of him in American Badass, and then upping his mat based work as Big Evil. Current Taker is...well yeah lol
@ArminVanLiberty
@ArminVanLiberty 6 жыл бұрын
Nate42494 What you call Deadman Returns is basically still his gimmick, however it has evolved over the years into what is sometimes referred to as The Last Outlaw. Currently, he's a mix of everything, and most of all at the twilight of his legendary career, which in some way, character-wise, makes him better than ever. Taker was never as revered and cherished by fans as he has been since about 2010, thanks also in part to the Streak.

apparently it was punishment for an idea Kanyon had for his character, so they had him sing Boy George song dressed as Boy George and Taker beat his ass ending with that infamous chair shot. I'm not sure why he did that to Kennedy, maybe it was a thing to break the rookes into the business because he did the same with Maven at the Royal Rumble back in 2002. Laid him out.

No one is perfect he's entitled to make mistakes, doesn't matter he does cuz he's still the best. Whether he was the Lord of darkness, the biker gimmick, deadman inc or the phenom he pulled it off. No one past or present has done what taker has done. People want to make comments that the undertaker needs to retire cuz he's in his 50s but I don't agree he doesn't need to retire, it's he deserves to retire. With wwe struggling I'm not surprised he was willing to make more appearances. Funny though he returns ratings go up and lesnar is not there.

1. Biker Taker was done as a experiment, WWE was going towards more realistic characters, at that time it was silly to have a undead zombie with mystical powers.... Biker Taker was much better than it had any right to be. Also Undertakers match quality before Biker Taker was pretty poor also ( taking away his Bret and Shawn matches from that era). 2. Takers ego had nothing to do with Kronics Failure, he honestly tried to help. 3. Taker vs Lesnar.... The reason Taker wanted a double DQ is so the match goes to Hell in the Cell and Taker could job clean in his own match to Lesnar.... To me Taker Jobbing clean to Lesnar was a huge launching pad for Lesnar.

True, his match quality did decline for a while during his Badass days mainly because his age was starting to kick in, but I think it was in 2005 or 06 when he made a comeback from a year long break and he was in the best shape of his career. That's when he had the most entertaining matches besides his run with Mankind, in my opinion. Then around 2009 or 10, his back and leg injuries started taking their tole on him. That's when he should've retired. My years might be way off... It's been a long time since I actually watched wrestling, so I don't really remember.

The Undertaker is legendary. Nobody is perfect. Specially when it's not a person but The Deadman. Of course, Mark Calaway had friends and foes and like most humans, tried to give a push to family and friends, put aside those who don't take work as serious as they should and bury enemies without remorse. All these flaws just "humanize" The Undertaker for moments and he'll always be GOAT.

He kept the kayfabe of character alive for 20+ years, never went to WCW, and kept the locker room in order. Whatever he wanted for his character, he rightfully deserved.
