10 TIPS BEFORE HIKING UP MOUNT VESUVIUS ITALY

This video will provide you with 10 tips you should know before hiking up the legendary Mount Vesuvius Italy. Mount Vesuvius is one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world and known as the volcano that killed all the people in Pompeii. It is a steep hike up an active volcano crater but worth the views into the crater and of the Bay of Naples, Italy.
If you are looking for Things to Do in Naples Italy, Mount Vesuvius is the ideal day trip from Naples, Rome or the Amalfi Coast.
Mount Vesuvius is an active volcano located in southern Italy, particularly famous for the major eruption of 79 AD, which effectively buried Pompeii, Herculaneum and other towns in the area in volcanic ash. It last erupted in 1944.
You can access Mount Vesuvius from MANY locations, either with an organized tour OR you can simply get the train or bus up with Vesuvius Express. This cost is 10 Euros plus £10 to enter the Vesuvius Crater area.

You forgot to mention that Mt. Vesuvius is one of the 16 Decade Volcanoes. This means it can create different kinds of volcanic hazards, and more importantly, is situated near populous areas, where the potential loss of life is high due to the proximity

Really good video and helpful tips. My wife and I made the hike up at the end of August 2023 and the one tip I would stress to anyone making the trek in the summer is to do it in the morning. If you can only get transportation or tours in the afternoon, skip it and wait for the next day. Italy summers are no joke and this is coming from a Texan.

Oh wow lots of helpful info! When did you go? I’ll be going early April. I also wondered how common it is for people on this hike to experience medical issues. Cardiac arrest is one of the most common causes of death amongst hikers. It’s kinda crazy they put a time limit on this. I’m sure there are people pushing themselves to make it back in time like you two were and that’s pretty dangerous, especially with the heat! Sounds like they need a better system to control foot traffic.
