My mom recently showed me a great trick in her walk-in closet. Just inside the door she has a very small table with a tray and basket on it. As soon as she goes into her closet each day, she dumps her purse into the basket. She takes a moment to remove things to the tray that don't need to go back into a purse. The next day she can select any of her 50+ purses and place the important contents in, straight from the basket. I've incorporated this technique now. I use a lot more of my purses now since I have a central organizing area for them. Oh, and there is a small waste basket under the table for used tissues or unneeded cards or receipts. This system has really helped me.

A few years ago, I did exactly what you suggested. The seldom- used guest room on the other side of my bedroom wall was a too valuable piece of real estate to utilize every few years. I designed my dream dressing room. The only difference from yours is that there are doors on the portions holding my clothing as I hated things getting dusty that are seldom worn. I added a wine fridge for my precious vintage perfumes as fragrance collection is a passion of mine. I must, must get one of those LG steamers! 😍

I have a walk in closet, but I’m not going to put a chez lounge in the middle of it. I think her closet is an attic space that they finished and made into a “closet” it’s not actually off their bedroom or bathroom. I think this was a good video, it just doesn’t apply to 90% of people.

I have an office/dressing room (which is a huge privilege, I know!) We live in a midcentury modern home and our 1959 closets are pretty tiny, plus my husband has nearly as many clothes as me, so it works well that we keep our items in separate places.

I have a small closet, but between shelving, bins, hooks, good lighting and organization I really enjoy it. Good tips, even for small closets. I bought mirrored doors, so that took care of the full length mirror, and I have a chair just outside the closet for sitting when I need to. I bought a rack for shoes, baskets and bins, a jewellery organizer etc. And these all have improved the function of my closet. I am working on purging and have bought less clothes this year because of your many tips. I am still a work in progress, so keep encouraging us with your great videos

1500 😯. I use a Dryel dry cleaning kit for your dryer. Works on everything except leather and fur. I have a lot of cashmere and other expensive items and it works wonderfully. 10 bucks! Refills are 10 bucks as well! 👌

Dryel is similar to the chemicals used in dry cleaning...causes all kinds of health issues including cancer, which is no fun! Trust me, it’s better to use something like this that doesn’t use the chemicals! Even a the hand steamers or the dryers with steam functions are much better and safer unless you use chems in your washer or dryer!
@veronicadomenichiello12104 жыл бұрын
What do you keep behind doors/drawers? Also! I love the way you display your shoes and handbags on open shelving. I’m an interior designer and clients tend to stay away from exposed shelves because they’re afraid everything will get dusty. Do you find you have to clean often for that reason?
@missnobody94754 жыл бұрын
I like exposed shelving because I won't remember what I have behind each drawer and I don't want to open up every dang drawer to find out. I can just look right at it. I experience mild dust in my well insulated home but if I left for a while it would be an issue over time. It just forces me to actually wear the items rather than sit and collect the dust like a museum piece.

I've purchased Samsung air dresser after I finished my giant dream closet room. I think that it is a helpful tool for giving your clothes " ironed affect " , but many people mistakenly believe that this tool can replace " dry clean " or laundering process and this machine can't . Even after using sanitize or normal mode perfume smell stays on my dresses. I use one spray of lv perfume and it's not overwhelming but machine can't remove that though Samsung advertisement showed the removal of smells. I've purchased the machine for 1 300 dollars and it looks very similar to yours.

I like you Shea, but your losing (not sure your background, if this has changed) touch with the “little people”, or “the masses.” I can tell you are aware of trying not to sound on a different level then most of your listeners, but you are. Don’t apologize for it, it’s the life you lead. You did preference your chair comment too. That being said- I literally don’t have room in my bedroom for a chair never mind my closet. The funny thing is I took that smaller room b/c the other bedroom didn’t even have a closet. And I live in a pretty desired area. (It is an older home?)You had some really great ideas though, on a positive note. I wrote a lot of them down. You always have great ideas. It’s nice for me to see how the other half lives too, you can sanitize your clothes in the vessel the size of my closet, while you lounge. Lol! The disproportion of wealth is very real, and I’m an spoiled American. Some families live in dwellings the size of my tiny room. I too am aware of my blessings. So continue to be blessed, and my advice would’ be to somehow keep it real, if for no other reason for your job on KZbin. As you continue to succeed, you may strike off into a different arena than you are even now. You most likely don’t want to lose relativity with your subscribers. Maybe volunteer at a shelter, or better yet, wouldn’t it be great for you to get involved with women living in a domestic violence shelter? They are often starting over with sometimes the shirt on their back only- that would be a miraculous place for you to donate some of those clothes that you buy or get for the channel. Plus they often need to start a new job, and need interview clothes. You seem like a caring person, and if you were allowed (confidentiality reasons) to interact, you would give such a boost to their shattered confidence. I could see you doing seminars on different topics to groups of women. I’m sure the organization would allow that if you approached doing a monthly, or quarterly seminar, and with donations. This would be a win, win. I used to work as a vocational counselor & I tell you, Shea, I must still have it😉b/c I just thought of that, and I think it’s the perfect solution to keep you, you. My best friend of 25 years - her father won multi in the lottery & needless to say, we don’t even talk anymore. She said I was the one person that didn’t change ($ doesn’t impress me like others- beautiful things I appreciate) she changed. $ changes everything. She actually said many times it was the worst thing that happened- my response do you know how many people want that problem! It’s all relative. Anyway, good luck. I enjoy you. Look into MTHR gene mutation about your teeth. I have similar- worked 2 jobs for all of the crowns, root canals… I just saw correlation, I haven’t fully researched it. I know I have that mutation (it’s common) Long message, sorry, hope it is helpful

I have been purging it because I do not work anymore, ladies retirement is not a bowl of cherries especially if your husband is around alot🤪🤪👎, anyway getting rid of so many clothes, shoes, purses, jewelry to my friends before going to a donation center. This has been quite a chore but liberating. I still have lots to do but it is so so worth it so when you go into ur closet things re not all scrunched together. Thank you Shea for all your tips and suggestions! Hugs 💜💜

Shea, I think you are cute as a button - I love your humor and your videos are well done. BUT, if you are trying to pull in the general public, regular folk - you may have lost some subscribers with this. Especially selling the perk that you started this video with. I feel it was pretty self serving and would be useful to maybe the 1% in the news. I realize they gave it to you to sell, so there it is but it isn’t something most would have room for, yet afford. I know you try to throw Walmart and Target in there but it doesn’t balance if you are trying to seem relatable. Like I said, you are adorable and I will still watch you, but this was a miss.
