Being positive is number 1 for me. My guitarist often lacks confidence and can easily get caught up in the odd mistake. He is always thanking me for being positive and seeing the good in even the worst situations. If something gets stolen, I pray for the person that stole it. I pray that their life improves to a point where they don’t feel it necessary to steal. That change in mindset is incredibly powerful and will permeate others.

Some seriously helpful tips here!! Thanks for this video! My band plays a lot of "local support" gigs for a bunch of touring bands, and I think a lot of those bands would benefit from this video. "adding light and positivity" ..... heck yes!! So important! The stage presence goes for everyone as well. Its a show!! Your band is there to provide entertainment!! Loved this video bro, so good!! Killin' in, brother!!!

Just played a gig this past weekend and the drummer in the headling band had one of those Spinners. He and his guitar player as a matter fact. He let me try it out and I have to say it's a great warmup tool and I told him I remembered seeing one in your video. Thanks for sharing, just ordered one on Amazon 💯💯

I nailed the most tips! Stay positive is sooo important. And moving is so important. Better to be (in your eyes) overdoing it, than holding back. Thanks for the Gyroscope thingy. I didn't knew that.
@offbeatdrumcompany25685 жыл бұрын
After I broke my wrist I was having a difficult time with fluidity of motion. My arm was moving a lot to compensate for my fairly stiff wrist movements. I used one of those gyroscope/excercise balls to help strengthen and improve my wrist! They really are great tools.

Great vid Gabe! Being positive is number 1 for me. I've never toured but I've played out enough times to see things beyond my control happen at a show: The sound guy has an attitude that night, Being rushed to play because the venue waited too long to start the show, Equipment problems during the set, I've had a rough day and now I have to go play a show, The touring band we're opening for had a bad show the night before and have decided to be complete a**holes to the other bands (my band) tonight and my personal favorite, being told you will paid only to hear an excuse at the end of the night why they can't pay you. A signed contract should prevent the last one from happening. Reminds me of the AC/DC song IT'S A LONG WAY TO THE TOP ( IF YOU WANNA ROCK ' N ' ROLL) lol !

I can totally relate to all of the things you listed out above! Staying positive throughout all of these things is easier said than done because there are so many different things that can go wrong like you said. But my life becomes much less stressful when I'm able to stay positive through it all!
@richeichelberg21795 жыл бұрын
I'll admit there has been times where I let it get the better of me and it did effect my playing in a negative way. Experience is a good teacher for working on this discipline.

cool man, very useful tips! could u make a video about how to run backing tracks, about monitoring, what apps do u use, THANK U
@racoondrummer45445 жыл бұрын
One thing I found useful when preparing for a show is practicing the full set twice in a row. Ive found that when the adrenaline and nervousness kicks in, you'll burn more energy. So being able to run the full set twice while practicing will guarantee you that you won't burn out duting the show

Even though I habe no touring expierience, all of your tips make sense. But many of these habits come automatically with your personallity and your mindset. These things cannot just be taught. It's a way of living, and you got everything you need for that what you do. Therefore for most of us you're a hero.

Thanks for the tips (1) I think getting rest after sound check is Important if your band is the headlining at least an 1hr since we drummers are the hardest working people in the band especially Metalcore, Hardcore & Thrash metal drummers :) (2) Eating healthy DON'T eat heavy meals before the gig eat your heavy meals after eating heavy meals before a show make you sluggish. (3) Wear comfortable clothing like sport apparel especially for metal type drumming. I don't know how metal drummers can play in jeans; I sweat to much to wear jeans the material is heavy;I couldn't do it but more power to you drummers who play in jeans :)
