A few more tips to consider: Bring tools (e.g., screwdriver, lube, towel). You never know when you'll drop your cube in the dirt or on a dirty floor. Learn the rules for blind. Even if you don't compete, you might be asked to judge. Bring your vaccination card if needed. Find out if you need the physical card or if an image on your phone suffices. Bring extra masks. You don't want to wear a mask all day that you sneezed in, and you can help out people who forgot theirs. Volunteer to help out, particularly at the beginning of the end of the day when there are fewer people. If you see someone who looks lost, ask if they want to join you. Make sure you know directions to the venue, how to get there, where to park (or nearest public transportation stop), how long it will take to get there. Bring change and small bills for the parking meters or subway or bus tokens or vending machines.

I have a tradition of not cubing the day before a comp. Let your wrists and hands heal for a day before the competition. I also recommend warming up with bigger cubes. I like to do 1 or 2 megaminx solves before 3x3. For me it makes me see a 3x3 in a simpler way and allows me to go from lots of layer building and f2l to just 4 pairs.
