10 Tips & Tricks for Beginners: Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3

Now that christmas has passed, we hopefully have a lot of new Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 players! So now is as good a time as any to go over some tips and tricks that might help new players, as well as more advanced players.

@@joythree4 You unlock him by playing the story. Heroes are typically introduced as NPCs shortly before unlocking them. Note: Colossus and Cyclops are an exception to this - they are unlocked via "Infinity" trials.

My wife got this game for me on switch a long time ago and I played it a little had some fun and then let it sit. I recently beat the first campaign (thanos and thane) and man this game is fun, so much story and gameplay I’m having a blast. But I also love that we unlock characters and I guess I unlocked the xpac stuff too ? I think I have to pay for some of it though? But that’s also something I really fucking love, I miss games where you unlock the characters by playing the game, games like tekkan or mortal kombat from back in the day. It feels like nowadays that’s rare and most every game unlocking new characters is just a payable dlc whereas I loveee unlocks from gameplay. Really throws me back to the good old days of fighting games

I have unlocked everybody except Thanos and Loki. My next mission is completing the rifts and leveling up my characters. Online play SEEMS almost nonexistent. It's rare I can actually find a game and even then they are often password-locked. I've only had the game for maybe a month, though. And it's not like I search for 30 mins at a time so my experience is limited there

One of the tricks I discovered for surviving the game on the harder difficulties is literally to just hold down the block button and never let go. I saw it on a forum and was like "they're just joking," but then I tried it for real and... wow. Made Superior and Ultimate an absolute cakewalk. Update: Was that meant to resemble a Fantastic Four logo at 5:07? Because if so, props to you.

@@alwaysnerdyretros Honestly, I didn't notice the Extreme Meter boost so much as the incredible damage reduction. I was getting curbstomped by Nebula within the first two minutes every time I even attempted Ultimate, started blocking constantly and my entire team was still at well over half health by the end of the fight. I always assumed blocking gave you a minor defense increase so I had never really used it up to that point.

For level grinding I will also suggest Phi's "Slim Chance". Is just as good as the ones you mentioned, but it gives out great isos and you get a big xp cube every time you clear it. Excellent tips video! It will certainly be useful for beginners. Great job, as always.

Thank you! That’s a great point, I love playing slim chance and the rewards are always good. It’s a lot harder than the other two though. You definitely can’t just go through the motions in slim chance like you can in 48 and 61

I am having trouble unlocking the characters for the phoenix expansion, I have beaten the game on friendly and im on chapter 6 in Superior, My guys are level 59 and all the gauntlets for every expansion are grey except the vampire one. Do i have to do them in a specific order....I am lost

I'd like to add to tip 4 by saying you can also just use your xp cubes as if they are health potions, so to speak. It's a lot easier then guesstimating how much xp you will gain mid mission. Edit: i'd also like to add to tip 8 by saying if you get a boss stationary you can use a tornado, and mix it with both a beam and an element. It does great so long as you get a stun first. Question for the battle pass mentioned on tip 9, if i miss an event is it possible to get the rewards that i missed at a later date. I didn't know about the events, and didn't find dangeroom fun, so i didn't play it. Does that mean i will never be able to get that psylocke costume you showed?

And to answer your question, we haven’t received an official answer on what happens to those rewards, but I would be HIGHLY surprised if they just disappeared, especially with the lack of costumes in the game. What’s most likely is they will just end up in the shield depot like the rest of the outfits and voice lines. So I wouldn’t worry about 🙂

How about a video on ISO-8 inventory maintenance? I’m constantly maxed on ISO-8 and not sure what to do with the less useful one’s. I think one video could cover all of ISO-8.

Great idea! You’re right, one video could probably cover the maintenence of iso at least. For the time being, what I do is pretty simple. I filter to only show the unequipped ISO’s up to level B and I delete all of them. I’ve been playing for a long time so I have a lot of A and AA, so I never use B and lower. So it depends on how long you’ve been playing the game and how comfortable you are with removing certain ones. Early on, I only got rid of C & D but kept all rainbow. But yeah, it may be easier to go more in depth in a video

Ohhh I see. I don’t think you’ve put yourself in a bad position though. If you’re not going to use the ones you’ve upgraded, you can still sell them for fragments to level up your higher level ISO’s. You can buy more fragments in the shield depot using shield tokens if you need more of a certain fragment type. You don’t really need to worry about upgrading higher level ones right now anyway. Just finding them is the tough part, so I’d focus on just getting better ISO’s and the fragments will come with that process.

there is a bit in avenger tower where you can keep reloading it and looting the iso off the roof. it's only low level stuff, but as a new player it can be decent to get some useful ones for levelling. I got 3 from it, but didn't want to keep doing it beyond that. It's not an exploit neither, as you can keep looting the same iso when you replay segments of the story.

I see in the video you only use 1-2 heroes when using extreme attack. Is there a reason for this or did your other heroes not have theirs

I think it was more of a timing thing when I recorded the gameplay, not strategy based. It’s best to get all 4 extremes at once if possible.

I bought this game day one and I moved on for a couple of months but the X-Men DLC got me hooked again. My highest character was Cyclops at 85 and he's 200 now. Colossus and Jean need about 10 levels each and Iceman is in the 180s. It's crazy fast, now that I got 7 of the team XP ISO.

@@alwaysnerdyretros the DLCs add stupidly much content. It's so good. I was kinda iffy on the battle pass thing but it's not like you pay extra on top of the DLC. So, it's just a other way to keep the game fresh. The only drawback I see for new players is that it can be daunting to see all of it. Team Ninja isn't really doing a great job of explaining anything. That and actually new story would be neat.

It’s tough and they never tell you how in game! Idk why they are so cryptic sometimes lol. Btw, In the new dlc they add a 5th slot, the way you get that is by leveling a character to 250. Each character leveled to 250 gets their 5th iso slot

What most people do is farm the “omega wakanda 61 rift”. It has higher rarity chance for ISO’s built in, but you’ll want to equip some “increases chance of white iso” ISO’s as well. That should help you snag some xp ISO’s.

ISO-8 Question. What is the difference between "Increase credits collected" and "Increase credits drop rate"?

Credits collected would be the total amount you receive whenever they drop. Drop rate would increase how frequently they drop. If that makes sense?

Hold ZR and then select an attack. Also make sure your characters have moves that match up so they're beneficial.

You can’t directly fight their characters, but there is a pvp style mode called danger room, where two teams compete to beat a challenge before the other. However, you can apply debuffs to the other team to slow them down

Ugh yeah I remember struggling with that one too. It took some luck getting the timing right and having your AI teammates cooperate properly. To help with that, I’d make sure to level characters as high as you can, and pick characters with a lot of range and good synergy. Characters like cyclops and iron man. These characters are good at clearing the waves of enemies in between ultimo stuns. If you can play online, that would probably be better too, since other players will be smarter about jumping on canons quicker and dodging those beams. But you can definitely do it solo too. Stick with it! You’ll get it!

I have Ultimate Alliance 3 i played the game twice using Small XP Cubes Enhanced XP Cubes Cosmic XP Cubes Ultimate XP Cubes I’ve got the Secret Character the times I played the game twice but I reset Ultimate Alliance 3 to play it for a third time because I realized when you level up a character there are five slots you can have an ISO-8 but when you use Cubes for a character it only unlocks four slots my question is that how do I not repeat the same mistake I play the game a lot also my goal is too have every character level 300 the only character I don’t mind Cubes on is Rocket and Groot because I think they are the worse character in the game not to knock people who are Fans I like them too but they would probably be better if they were separate characters

It won’t pop up on the main menu. It’s only on the marvel knights and xmen tab. So you may just need to switch tabs

it's good to play single player and switch between the characters. you can easy set up synergy attacks with the AI as well, even if it is pretty useless most of the time, if you use the Z buttons to call for synergy attacks, they usually go off without a hitch.

The servers for the game crash pretty often regardless, so it might just be the game. If it’s happening constantly, you can test your network in the switch’s setting to make sure it’s connected. Otherwise you’ll really need to talk to Nintendo support. I’m not going to be very helpful with internet connection troubleshooting

My advice is play on easy 1st. Normal (mighty) difficulty is a grind to get up to par on newer levels. Hel level @ 34 & my characters under level 32. Trials copied areas of main story. 1 & 2 r far superior to me. Marvel Strike Force is free & more fun.

With all due respect. Your tips are next to useless for a new player. You talk about things the game never explains and expect people to know. Why don’t you tell everyone what the yellow bar is for? I got to level 50 and completed 2 difficulty levels without knowing that if I hit the triggers I get a massive attack. Most beginners will have the same issue and others. Now as someone who knows the game mechanics better your video is very useful. But as a beginner video it’s invalid.

They teach you how to do the ex attacks in the very beginning of the game. If you didn't know how to do it then that's on you for not paying attention.
