I've almost never use Quen at all. Aard is maxxed out and will stop even the biggest Elementals long enough for a couple of hits, before dodging and rolling away. Then rinse-and-repeat until the monster is dead. For lower level Nekkers and Drowners, the maxxed-out Aard can actually blast them into pieces (especially if paired with a Blizzard potion).

My biggest tip for The Witcher 3 is wherever possible walk from location to location, don’t fast travel or even ride Roach. You’ll find chest unmarked anywhere and you’ll find fallen tree trucks with coins stashed inside them, plus it more fun.
@mysticmajestic2360
@mysticmajestic2360 4 жыл бұрын
Also Roach is just. A pain in the ass to navigate with. I've played the game maybe four times since I first picked it up in late 2018 and I quickly gave up on the horse. Only use it when I've suddenly passed my item limit and would otherwise shuffle for twenty minutes to the nearest merchant.

I used to dislike the witcher 3 on the first playthrough, I since learned that it was because I was using fast travel and roach to much and never really took in the scenery around me. so yeahs its nice to just walk through the trees and watch the sunrise or sunset

Edit: I just realised how long this is. Whoops. Also, great video! General Tips: 1. Gwent - You may not like it but it often comes up in the game via quests. It's best to buy cards when you can and play against people at least once. You will always get a card beating an opponent for the first time. You can also change the difficulty of it in the menu. 2. Don't craft armours/weapons often, especially higher level gear like upgraded witcher gear. It may not cost *too* much at first but will build up quick, both in coins and materials. 3. Loot - Do it often. You can pick up a plethora of things ranging from food to weapons. 4. Go to the bank in Novigrad - You can exchange foreign currency you've picked up into currency you can use. 5. Axii - Upgrade it when you can. There's dialogue that's looked behind an upgrade. You can use this to not pay gold to stubborn people/guards and generally do things you otherwise couldn't. It's extremely helpful. 6. Save - Do it often in the case of anything. Rare bugs, death, etc. The game auto saves but not when you'd probably like. 7. Fall damage - You can minimize it by clicking the jump button just before you hit the ground. You will roll instead of splatting. Combat Tips: 1. Dodge - It can save your life often. In my opinion, dodging after getting swipes in is a must do. It keeps your distance and you can't counterattack everything. 2. Archers - If you can get to them first, do it. They will screw you over in combat. 3. Quen - A bit obvious but use it, especially against monsters. It can save you often. 4. Shields - Use Axii against them to get a free hit. It will also instantly kill human opponents at times. Even enemies much higher level. 5. Don't spam - More than likely, your enemies will parry/counterattack you or, in the case of monsters, not care and hit you anyway. 6. Group fights - Enemies aren't dumb. At least not very. They will attack you in groups, mostly. Take advantage of this when you are confident and competent enough. If you are attacking an opponent with one behind you, hit your opponent then hit the one behind you with the following attack. It often hits them because they're trying to hit you, thus no defense. Don't get cocky with it. Another thing, if you want to try, get an enemy between you and an archer, the archer might hit them causing a stun and damage them. Also, do not counterattack when surrounded unless you are experienced and can counterattack well enough to do it right after to someone else. Another person will probably hit you. And it will hurt.

North tip 7 is amazing and I didn’t know about it till I started recently re playing it. Sometimes I would fall and die Immediately, And sometimes I would do a roll and take no damage off the Same fall. Personally I just spam the roll button if I find myself falling off anything.

When dealing with archers, the alternate yrden ability strikes down arrows and can also assist you in the fight. Its range is pretty good and can strike enemies through shields and in most cases it can interrupt an enemies attack giving you a moment to counter

I have played through the Witcher 3 10-12 times, still not an expert but I have a few things that may be useful. 1. Absolutely explore everywhere: there are some many really useful things to find and exploring every marker that comes up will really help out. 2. SAVE!: the game doesn’t auto save nearly as much as you think it should and you could lose, I’m not kidding, hours after one death. So save , save, save. 3. Make a point to find the gear from the other schools.: the Griffin, Cat and Bear gear is so much better then anything else it is almost always a good idea to level until you can wear it then have it made. Once you find one diagram for a set you will get a quest that will point you too the rest. 4. Don’t rush: I know I said explore earlier but I’m talking specifically about doing side quests, contracts and getting into fights. Being under leveled will make the game unnecessarily difficult and no fun. So do as much as you can before you move on to the next main quest and pay attention to level recommendations. There are infinitely more things I could say but this is probably long enough as it is, just know it’s a fantastic game and I hope everyone who picks it up enjoys it as much as I have.

Been playing The Witcher 3 for a year now and I'm on my 3rd playthrough (main story). My first try I played it with minimal guides or tips, and I had the worst ending ever haha! And then I decided to be more serious while playing it the second time, planning ahead of fights, thinking of the consequences and learned a lot of tips I can share now to the ones who are planning to start playing this awesome game: 1. Save - You can use the shortcut F5 to save your game or there is the option where you can choose on how many interval per minutes you want to autosave (you can change this at the game option, theres 3mins, 10mins so on) 2. Loot everything specially weapons - You will need everything you loot, if not for oils or potions, sell it to acquire more money. I usually sell sword and other weapons in Novigrad square, people there are rich. As you go on through the game, stuff will get expensive especially when you're starting to upgrade your weapons and gears. Haggle rewards as much as the NPC allows. 3. Sword and Gears - Know the different attributes of gears and weapons. It'll help you maximize the effects of your attacks and sign. There are light, medium and heavy armors that you can choose from. 4. Choices - You'll encounter choices that will require you to kill or stay out of trouble (this mostly works with people). In my experience of playing the game, choosing to stay out of trouble and not killing gives you more XP. But this will depend on the setting. 5. Herbs - Herbs are sometimes hard to find and not all herbalist have a lot of herbs to choose from. My go-to herbalist are located at Novigrad square and The Pellar located in Blackbough. They have vast selections of herbs you can buy. 6. Alcohols - Some of the alcohol like cherry cordial are sold by innkeepers, like the one in Golden Sturgon. 7. Meditation and potion - Always meditate. This will replenish your potion. Speaking of potion, keep Swallow at hand. It will not just help for fast recovery but also keeps the poison from killing you, like fighting a swarm of sirens. 8. Dismantle stuff - Often times the components required for crafting is just a dismantle away. Study the items you can dismantle and save money instead of buying the components. 9. Buy maps and diagrams - There are merchants who sells maps and diagrams that can open new locations and lets you craft new weapons or potions. These are all the tips I know so far, I hope this helps. =)

1. Dont try to hurry up the story, take story quests by your level, for exg in start you canr start your search for Ciri from anywhere; Velen, Novigrad or Skellege, do it the canon way and as suggested level; first Velen then Novigrad and then Skellege, your story and game will run its course very smoothly and easily. 2. Learn to use Quen and the 'gourmet' ability as mentioned and dont spend a single coin on armor (especially non-witcher armor), completed the whole game on death march using the base armor only (its very easy once you master Quen), save your money for swords and glyphs/runestones. 3. Instead of buying glyphs/runestones look for their diagrams to create them, making them is much cheaper than buying them. 4. Sell things to proper buyers like books to bookstore, swords to blacksmiths, armors to armorers, food items to innkeepers etc. 5. If you are running low on coin there are certain places in Novigrad where low level bandits keep re-spawning kill them, take their swords and sell them. 6. If your sword has greater or medium runestones then dismantle it instead of selling it. 7. In hearts of stone expansion pack there is an option of investing in runewright shop (about 10,000 crowns) do it, it enables you to add sockets in any armor or weapon. 8. When you start blood and wine expansion pack, first thing you need to do is get the Aerondight Silver Sword, there some very easy ways to get this sword early in the game so search online the fastest way to get it, the earlier you get this sword in the game the better. (Note: throughout the game keep checking out for "!" and "?" in map for extra quests or treasure hunts and etc for quick coin, especially the ones you are passing through cause once you unlock fast travel to most places you wont bother to manually travel that much)

I'd say don't sleep on the alchemy skill tree. It's probably the best one. It can make any potion or decoction heal you, so you don't need to use food in one of your quick slots. It can make your damage increase based on your toxicity, and there's a skill that removes damage from toxicity. Plus, the decoction effects are awesome. With the skill perk that also makes toxicity increase your damage, they're super strong. Also, go for a set of Witcher gear as early as you can. Best armor in the game, and they look sick. Finally, save your game often.

A couple of tips: 1) Combat & Alchemy build is the most popular route for Death March gameplay into New Game + and it teaches you to be mindful about using alchemy ingredients , which makes it a great build to start out with if you're unsure about what to build, as it is very potent and informative. 2) Optional parts of quests can unlock different endings and little bits of extra gameplay. 3) Defensive skills and utility based skills tend to scale very well into the later stages of the game. Especially quen and aard are useful at all levels, even when not upgraded. Damage oriented skills (mainly igni) require more upgrades to stay relevant and take more skill and patience to use effectively at higher levels.

I would add that counter-attacking (by parrying with humans and dodging with monsters) is an essential part of the combat in this game. For a while I was just trying to hack and slash my enemies and I was struggling in combat. Once I put a little effort into timing my counter-attacks, I began enjoying the combat much more. You inflict more damage that way as well. Edit: I see that he addressed this in part 2.

my tips: 1. this one's more personal preference, at first i was deadset on having a combat/signs build, but i found it not that practical on death march. when you get a bit into the game and are making more potions and decoctions, i strongly advise going on a combat/alchemy build. makes all the difference in the world 2. don't skip sidequests. not only some of them extremely relevant how some things in the grand scheme of the plot turn out, but they're hella fun 3. have a decent amount of money before starting the hearts of stone dlc. there's one particular mission that absolutely bleeds you dry. 4. be careful with boats, especially in skellige. you can easily find yourself in need to swim a good 1000m or whatever the metric is if you're careless and damage them enough that they sink 5. loot monster nests, those can drop things from runes to weapons. loot monsters. even if you don't think you need mutagens or whatever they drop, you probably will need them 6. put runes on your weapons and glyphs on your armour! invest a little and buy the diagrams to make normal and greater runes. 7. some notices on the notice boards are not contracts, but i'd still recommend you read them. some of them are heartbreaking, some of them are absolutely hilarious. either way, it immerses you into the atmosphere 8. read whatever books/notes you get while you're doing a quest. again, helps with the immersion and sometimes with the quests themselves

My quick tip is to learn the quen sign down to the 3rd row as soon as possible, it lets you hold up a shield which restores your health on each hit from the enemy and also explodes when released giving you some time to start an attack, especially useful on higher difficulties to restore your health if you have lots of enemies around

My best tips so far: - Use Axii when fighting those nasty Boiras, it’ll keep them visible and unable to dodge. - Get the 20 min increase for food effects in the general abilities menu asap. You’ll never ever again need to spend half of your earnings on food. - Use the Wyvern Extract potion against tanky enemies and bosses, it’ll increase your DPS ridiculously. It’s specially useful against enemies with much higher level than you. If you combine it with igni, you can permanently remove their armor and make the combat even easier. - Invest in the Axii performance for persuasion in dialogs. You have no idea how much shorter and easier quests will become, it’s a must-have. - Invest in the Cat potion and look for blueprints to improve it. Most of the monsters you’ll hunt or the loot you’ll find is bound to be in very dark areas, where torches are pretty much useless, also it works underwater too, so you’ll probably need it pretty much every time you dive.

All mutagens are lost and i had a real tough time getting those back. Make good use of potions, oils and bombs especially in higher difficulty. Loot everything. Kill cows whenever you can for hides. Gold tip: if you are a bit short of funds, the best way to boost your gold is to spend a few hours in Skellige looting the chests that float in the sea, attached to barrels. You will fight a lot of sirens, so as you near the target area, jump out of your boat and engage them underwater. These chests frequently contain unique swords and heavy armour, and ideally you will sell them to the vendors in Beauclaire, Touissant (Blood and Wine DLC). Depending on how much stuff you can carry, you may earn 5 to 10k gold per trip, sometimes more.

My main and probably the one that needs to be given at first. Choose your character build path wisely: Aim for specialisation, dont spend your skill ponts all around, you won't have enough points to max out everything, so choose your three or four main branches and stick to it when it comes to spend points. Exemple i usually go for fast attacks (red) + Oil effectiveness (green) + Igni and Quen (blue).

Two things I haven't seen yet, 1. The second upgrade of Axii - puppet is pretty good. You can turn enemies into allies who will attack the other enemies. 2. With the ingredients, some are very common, but others are fairly rare. So you want to know where you can buy certain things.

Do NOT waste a skill/slot and potential mutagen bonuses on Gourmet. You will find such a massive amount of food and water in this game that you should never run out and recovering health is as easy as remembering to press the button to consume quickslotted food. Unless you are absolutely terrible at remembering to hit the button again when the food item is wearing off/worn off and just generally bad at games of this type, it's a complete waste. It seems cool at first, but it's unnecessary, even if you only use half the duration of a food item before consuming another and essentially "waste" half that food item it really doesn't matter with how much damn food you'll eventually have overflowing your inventory unless you're selling it or something. My recommendation for an early general skill to buy/get is to get Strong Back. It adds 60 to your total carrying capacity, which is a lot, and the way this skill really shines is that you don't need it all the time. So buy the skill and leave it inactive and use skills that actually benefit your character in combat or whatever instead, and when you end up inevitably looting too much, pick the least important skill to your character, and swap it out with Strong Back so you have more weight until you can make it to your stash or a merchant and sell off some goodies, then just switch back to your combat enhancing skills. Extremely useful. Also, don't buy horse equipment, do horse races as soon as you find them and win new equipment.

Another tip would be when doing a quest that has you exploring big places with a lot of other paths to go towards or just adventuring on your own (ex:caves,dungeons etc) don’t forget or at least try to explore every one of those paths you will be rewarded with rare items and weapon or armor diagrams at times even actual armor and weapons but wary that there is a risk of having to fight a tough opponent(s) at times. An example I could give is there is a quest (I think it’s called in “Dark Places” or something Dark but anyways it sort of a main quest) in velen that has Geralt and Keir going into this cave hideout looking for ciri and an elf and have an encounter with the wild hunt. It’s a huge place to do exploring make sure to save constantly before going down a certin path just in case you die or are not able to defeat certain enemies(like a gargoyle; took me a few tries) or illusionary walls that you might just not pay any mind too. So if you see another path on the minimap and it shows there is more to it behind a wall or whatever give it a go and keep all those treasures for thy self

Browsing through the comments, I want to mention an impotent tip that I haven’t seen mentioned. Play the game on the harder difficulties. On easy and normal, you can mediate after every fight to replenish health. This incentivizes the player to abandon skill systems and to simply button smash through fights since health restoration via mediation is an infinite resource. Second, this turns combat from an engaging experience into something just needs to be done to progress through quests. Last, it breaks immersion. You are Witcher and the easy/normal difficulties fail to encourage the player to play as such. On harder difficulties, unlike most RPGs where it’s just modified enemy health and damage, Witcher 3 has skill systems in place providing you means to tackle more difficult content. When I bought W3, I never left White Orchard because the gameplay was mind numbing. I let it sit for a year. I decided to give it another go and increased the difficult and next thing I know I’m 120 hours in. Playing again on the hardest difficult and spending time thinking about how you develop and play Geralt is fun in and of itself.

Wait so all you need is alcohol in your inventory when meditating and it replenishes ALL your potions/concoctions? As in, any active buffs will be refreshed, or they flat out get replenished in your inventory to be used again whenever you feel like it? Do you only need a single thing/item of alcohol, or do you need one per potion? Same with Oil’s.. they only need to be crafted once and can be then used infinitely from there on out? I’m sorry if these are basic questions, I’m just EXTREMELY NEW to this game (and the series as a whole), and the entire alchemy section of the inventory really had me feeling overwhelmed. So if these items are able to be used again without having to re-acquire new mats, that really offers up a sigh of relief on my end! Really looking forward sinking my teeth further into the game, so thanks for the video man.. really informative and A LOT better than 99% of the other TW3 videos I’ve been watching, especially considering you also didn’t go spoiler heavy. Everybody posting tips here soo gonna lut a few of mine 1: for people that like gwent but still dont know how to play it well you can change the difficulty of the gwent game in the options menu. 2: alchemy crafted items are mostly infinite (you dont need to remake them) but needs alchohol to be restored. So for alchemy build or moslty any build make sure to always have a few. (To have a bunch of them im the first skellige mission you can loot a good amount of them) 3:always uses signs in battles for they can change the tides of it even if you havent upgraded nothing from them they cam save you. Have axii skill upgraded to max to unlock mofe dialog options. The max is three and it can help you out of situations that makes you waste money or emd up in a fight. (Will help in blood and wine just trust me) 4: Be careful on where to spend your money since its pretty hard to get more than 15000 (if you make many things that is) try keeping it until late game so you can make something useful

Get Sun and Stars in the Brown section in Character, hit point re-generator, especially if you're playing on the top two difficulties. When you play them, you do not get your health restored when you meditate. The lower difficulties your health IS restored. This game always gives better and better weapons as you go up in levels. You don't need to upgrade them with one exception and that's your silver sword. You can get an Ursine or Wolven silver sword that does quite a bit of damage later in the game. Yrden magic trap is great against wraiths. And it looks cool. If you're playing the expansion packs Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, definitely put some points in Aard before you get there.

Hi there. I have passed this game along with it's two expansions 6 or 7 times since 2017. The first 2 times were on easy and normal modes, then I got to the hard mode-blood and broken bones and finally I passed Deatmarch, then a Deathmarch again on NG+ then I believe 1 more Deathmarch and now I am passing the story again on Deathmarch. I enjoy changing the ending and initially went for Triss romance but only 1 or 2 playthroughs, now I am a loyal Yen lover and don't even romance anyone else. That being said I am very experienced in the game and I am glad such a video came out. On lower modes you need not worry about Vitality and can just hack and slash but if you want a true experience you have to got for Blood and Broken Bones and Deathmarch. I have passed the latter 3 or 4 times as I mentioned and I will give you guys my share of advice 1.Early on you will be shit and even experienced players will find White orchard to be hell. You have no potions, low food, your gear is meh so what you must do is 1. Dodge a lot. Then strike wih quick attacks 2. Use quen- the shield spell. Igni is also good if you have few opponents left or if the area is small and they can't suround you 3. On higher difficulties max Quen- get the entire line of upgrades under Quen. Especially important is the upgrade which allows you to get hp back from damage on the shield 4. Get delusion(Axii upgrade which helps in dialogs) 5. Upgrade your fast and later your heavy attacks, get the adrenaline upgrades(last row in the red upgrade area), also undying which will get your hp back if you were gonna die otherwise 6. Get whirl-this will let you slice enemies around and damage people who have suroanded you 7. Get the firestorm upgrade for igni which allows you to hit it in a line continously-it helps with shield users. if you are confident enough you could just deflect their attacks and kill them slower but it is useful to have 8. Get well versed in alchemy and get potions and blade oils because opponents are tought and you need oils to damage them properly 9. Combine signs and potions to stay healthy and not overdose. 10. If you have reached the higher difficulties you might have already done this but still. DO EVERYTHING. Every quest, every objective. Scout with your horse before going in-some enemies will be super strong and you will have to run away. 11. Get viper silver sword in white orchard and later the temerian armor at level 4. Later if you want you can get the nilfgardian gear for yourself and your horse-I love the saddle, saddlebags and armor, you can find it at Crow's perch. Do the side quest where the granny asks you to find her pan-she will give you valuable food items which are super important to have before you have swallow potion and white raffald's decoction. Use axii in dialogs(this is why I said to get the Delusion upgrade) to get free xp- it is lower in Deathmarch so anything you can get is worth it. That's about it. Someone else can give you other advice in terms of builds and items but I find the battle/sign hybrid build to be the best. Later on you can get whatever. You will find awesome items when you explore and it's not required to get witcher gear right away. For Blood and wine-ursine armor is the best for Quen users like me and it is an armor which will make you a real tank.

@@heyboss318 It's just divided into separare lines with points. That makes it appear longer. Another veteran gave 14 points of advice. I mean what's the point of giving advice if it's short and shitty? This is so long because I want it to be useful :)
