NO! Icebergs and ice breaking off is not because of melting or less ice. It's due to the shearing force created by too much ice. The weight of large amounts of ice push it off the edge. Ask any geologists they'll tell you.

Without meaning to be a smartas$, (I mean a serious etymological question), why do glaciers calve-not foal or farrow or something. Does the word calve have a different non-bovine meaning when applied to glaciers? I would try looking it up, but they’ll only show me pages trying to sell me cows
@MistyChickenHB6 күн бұрын
While the weight of ice can cause icebergs to break off, melting also plays a role. Rising temperatures weaken glaciers and ice shelves, making them more prone to calving. Both mechanical forces and melting contribute to this process.

Heavy wind and hail in addition to the rain is a pretty good indicator to go inside as there is a decent chance of a tornado being nearby.

what an amazing collection of nature moments! it's truly breathtaking to see how wild and unpredictable the natural world can be. although, i can't help but wonder if some of these moments were staged for attention. it’d be interesting to know how much editing was done. what do you all think?

I wouldn't worry 'bout Him! Nature makes them critters more robust than you Think. Humans would panic and fk themselves up more than just falling would do. There's footage of a deer that'd been hit by a combine while napping in a field. ..you can see it's flayed out pretty Bad BUT! ..still walking. Probably died later (sorry), but that's how badass nature makes 'em. He (the deer in this video) was swimming: most Likely went on Walking, too.

7:50 That's my area, I don't remember tornadoes in 2018. But I do remember a microburst that happened in...I wanna say 2021, it was so bad that my former cleaning workplace said don't transport anyone, we'll pay you for the day, they don't want anybody on site today due to an incoming storm. This was in the summer so it probably was ripe conditions for tornadoes. And now, we have to worry about wildfires. Thankfully my family and I are safe right now and hopefully it will stay that way. 🙏🙏🙏

FYI: Lightning strikes the earth around 100 times every second. This does not include the 'cloud to cloud' strikes either. Also, without lightning, there most likely wouldn't be a 'life' on the earth as lightning converts the nitrogen gas in the atmosphere to a solid that green plants can use. It is also likely that lightning struck the 'primorial soup', which sparked life.
