@@mj897 I went on a 26 mile ride with a 3 mile climb at the end on a single speed once, and that ride helped me decide to sell my single speed. They are just impractical for riding long distances, to me at least. For riding around town or commuting, they make a lot more sense. Fixed gears don't seem practical for commuting as there is a lot of stop and go and you have to deal with cars. I feel fixed gears only make sense on the track or on a long bike trail. That's just my opinion.
@mj8975 жыл бұрын
@@RuezgaDaniel with fixed gear your forced to continuously pedal this means blood flow is better and lactic acid clears far quicker. You actually get to your destination far less fatigued. Single speed you can still coast so it different. Might sound counter intuitive but very true.

the Miche Primato crankset is very underrated and even though they are not as stiff as Omniums or 75s, they hold up and you know you are getting your cranks for a reputable italian brand. also, in the uk they are the easiest mid to high end crankset to get a hold of and are sold in most bike shops.

Two mentions for contact points. First is the Cinelli Scatto saddle, which is surprisingly affordable. I know a saddle is very personal, though if you tend towards a flat-ish profile saddle, the Scatto is one of the lowest cost quality saddles available. Next item is Fabric (brand) lock on grips, for straight or riser bars. They have a textured rubber pattern, work well in rain, or with sweaty palms, and they look nice.

No need to worry, they don’t have any of the components they manufacture, they can’t keep up with even full bike sales as they are taking orders months in advance for two of their bikes, not a single spoke available beyond that. So no one can really give them money with any ease at the moment.

Bob Jackson off the peg track frame, a hand built silver soldered lugged frame out of Reynolds tubing from a proper traditional British Frame Shop for a fraction of the price of many of the more pretentious frame shops, It started out in the 50s round the back of the bike shop, although the Internet killed the Bike Shop, the frame shop is still going strong. I have four Bob Jackson bikes I bought after I got tired for paying high price tag for a branded carbon frameset, to find it having having been built within minimum cost and zero quality control in the most undeveloped parts of the third world. Nothing wrong with that, if the price reflects the quality, but when its 10 times the factory gate price! Now i get my frames made in Leeds England, by men in brown overalls that drink tea and still cost no more than some Cambodian Carbon.

Wabi Sub 15s are legit the bomb diggety. After 2 years I finally blew a spoke. And it was my fault, because I hit a pot hole really really bad (after many times hitting potholes with no problem) and I tried to get the true back which wasn't so bad anyway but it screwed with my Fung, so while I got my wheel trued, I over tightened and poof! But otherwise, and that can happen to any wheel, they are the best street wheel I've ever ridden, especially since that it's still a non carbon wheel.
@DEFKNIGHT5 жыл бұрын
Also, you really should consider 25mm tires rather than 28mm. They are made for 21mm thru 25mm.And while you can use 28mm and up to 32mm they extend wayyyy too much over the rim and 28mm a little too much as well and if you know anything about general aerodynamics you'll Know that too wide is really bad.
@DEFKNIGHT5 жыл бұрын

Most people go for phil wood or duraace hubs. I vote HiFi hubs for day to day more affordable option; and profile racing track hubs for more durable higher end option.
@fixiegod5 жыл бұрын
@BeboSaab you're right, that's why I reccomend the hifi ones because they have higher quality cnc machining on the hub body and axle nuts, but the hollow axle is a drawback for strength. profile has the highest quality cnc machining on the highest quality aluminum; and they use female axle so its much stronger.
@fred74865 жыл бұрын
@BeboSaab all this tells me is that you have never ridden phil wood hubs. There is a very notable improvement on how smooth the ride is. You will get used to it like any bike upgrade but its still a big difference.
@fred74865 жыл бұрын
@BeboSaabmy phil wood wheelset is actually a good amount heavier than the one it replaced by over 100 grams per wheel, (i plan on lacing them to some lighter rims in the future) but with that being said, they roll so much smoother. I noticed that I couldn't accelerate as fast due to the weight increase but the over all ride quality was improved by a long shot.
