I think it's the changes that people are bothered by. Why is Mufasa adopted? Was this projection from some producer? Scar wanted to to be king because it was within grasp, much like really life royal house civil wars and disputes etc. The concept of adopting an older brother who becomes heir is a fucking alien concept to normal people.

yeah that's where i figured they were setting up for, the "kids" will meet and work with them rather than inhabiting them. it will then bring things back to how it was in the original movie with them all trying to finish the game, no extra lives or special skills given to them (although they might end up still writing it that after joining with the avatars the kids manage to get granted at least one extra life but they don't realise until after it is what saves one of them)

To be fair, Scar wasn't much of a villain. He wanted his "people" to be treated like the rest of the animals and to be homed and fed, but Mufasa wouldn't allow it. He forced them out into the shadow lands. Scar was just trying to look out for his people.

With regards to the I am Legend sequel, it's a little bit of a mistake to say that the alternate ending has "never" been canon. In fact the alternate ending technically _is_ the original canon ending, if you go by Richard Matheson's novella. Even that one has its differences, but if you compare the book's ending with the theatrical ending, the two are light-years apart from each other. It's a little weird that this choice was made, but considering the alternate ending is far superior, and more faithful to the source material, I'm perfectly fine with the decision.

There is a precedent for the "I am Legend" sequel following a none cannon variation, and that is Superman Returns, which on an initial viewing makes no sense continuity wise. Until that is, you view the Richard Donner cut of Superman two, and suddenly it becomes obvious that Superman returns is a sequel to this version of Superman 2, not the officially released Richard Lester version. Also the Richard Matheson's "I am Legend" had a definitive film version made in 1964 under the title "The last man on Earth", this classic has been recently colourised and is available on You Tube.

Just go and watch the IMHO superior 'Omega Man' outing of the 'I am Legend adaptations. Don't get me wrong, it's not what I would call a Great film, but I think it is better than the Will Smith outing. Obviously the digital FX in the newer version are better than the 70's practical FX, but the Omega Man is somehow way more eerie. I saw the 1964 version some years ago on a minor satellite channel quite late one night. They were SO slapdash that the segments between the ad breaks were obviously out of order. I ended up recording a subsequent broadcast, and skipping through the various ad breaks to find the next chunk of the movie. IIRC 'The last man on Earth' stars Vincent Price? Anything with Vincent Price in is probably not going to be Great, but it's Always worth a watch!

The original story was the Wrath of Hans, in a way. Hans Christian Andersen met Swedish opera singer Jenny Lind, (the same one from The Greatest Showman) in 1840 and became infatuated with her, but she was not interested in him romantically. He wrote The Ice Queen about her/someone with a frozen heart. But they were friends so supposedly he held no ill will. But sure, 3 can be The Wrath if Hans if 4 can be The Greatest Snowman.

The ending was incredibly strange, as our heroes run onto the beach, everything looks primed for a dino-feast day for the ages, aaaaaaand here's a guy in a black suit to save the day? I know, Ellie literally "sent in the marines," but jesus that ending was abrupt. 3 *did* have that great airplane-fuselage-as-pringles-can-with-hard-to-reach-chips-inside sequence, and I'll defend that forever. As for this video, who the hell thinks The Lost World is good by any stretch? Lost plotlines, an 80-pound girl (at best) kicking a 400-pound velociraptor through a wall after engaging in a hilarious call back to Gymkata? Please.

@@johncook802 No. If that movie is really set 28 years after the first one, it's going to be terrible, making no sense at all. Even four years would be a stretch, considering the infected were nearly eradicated in the second film in England, and that was only set half a year after the first one. 28 years later there shouldn't be any groups of infected large enough to be a danger to the surviving humans. The infected aren't zombies (even though the trailer makes them look that way, another thing I don't like about it), they need food and water to survive and considering that they bodies are working on 150% all the time, there are parts of their bodies that are going to fail (heart attack, stroke...).

I'm actually looking forward to the I Am Legend sequel. I mean honestly, they'll probably botch it. But if someone who really cares about it (and has real talent) is in charge, it could be incredible. Two things I hated about the original were the CGI creatures - I thought real people with excellent make-up would have worked better (or at least much, much better CGI). Making them strong and agile is good, but at the end of the movie they were ridiculously powerful. And oh boy did I hate the ending. The alternate ending is perfection. The rest of the movie is beautiful, thoughtful and heartbreaking. I would love a well-done sequel.

Jumanji 2 ended with the game leaking out into the "real" world, I'd definitely say there's sequel potential there. Maybe they'll get a chance to meet their in-game avatars? That could be cool. (Also, can I point out the amazing acting specifically in the second movie? Jack Black, Dwayne Johnson, Karen Gillian and Kevin Hart each played their in-game characters, controlled by two separate players, at various times in the movie, and I feel like that's a difficult thing to pull off as convincingly as they did)

I would like a Jumanji 4. I think Karen Gilian can carry that movie, she doesn't need the other three. And if you read the books the actual sequel to Jumanji was Zathura but nobody remembers that movie. Out of the Disney live action. Cruella was the one that stood out for me. It's so different than anything Disney had been doing. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice was actually really good. That kept me laughing through the movie.

Nobody wants WhatCulture? There were sequels that initially look like total nostalgia bait that actually did well in the box office and/or had positive critical reaction. Mad Max Fury Road, Top Gun: Maverick, Tron: Legacy, The Color of Money, The Karate Kid, and Trainspotting 2 for example were sequels that came years after the first film that were scoffed at initially as most had no idea what to expect because of the years in between sequels and all did well in the box office. Even Blade Runner 2049, despite bombing was generally received positively. While box office receipt does not guarantee a good movie, it still is a clear indicator that there was interest so perhaps we might be jumping the gun too early here.

I'm psyched for Jumanji 3... especially now that there is a release date. Next Level ended with a heard of ostriches in the real world as the 4 main characters are coming out of a diner.
