Like... it was as fun, but you could save after each level and you did not have to complete levels without dying to get the gems. No idea how I survived the first one lol. (That's the originals, not the remakes). The Crash Bandicoot series could make the "changes fans hated" list, too, obviously, later in the series. And then the "changes fans loved" list again with the newest entry. :D

The dmc controversy was the biggest joke to me. I played that game before I (attempted) the original trilogy and enjoyed half of 4. But everything people complained about in dmc, I expected to NOT be in the older games and it just wasn't the case. The old story is just as fucking wacky and over-the-top stupid. Which is completely fine, just don't act like DMC is weird for the same reasons that you relish in the old games. The only thing I can see from super sweaty hardcore nerds is that the combat is a bit easier to execute. Personally I enjoy the "switching system" in DMC a LOT more than the stupid style swapping to cram more button inputs into Dante or the "perfect" execution required to make Nero gameplay more fun. You get Nero's pull, but also get to grapple yourself, weapons are just as fun and creative, have some good impact and individuality and the gameplay flows super nicely, even with the gimmick colored enemies. Which is an insane feat, because something like that can literally break a game.

Yeah Tony Hawk games should stick with that previous formula. THUG Pro, for those already aware of that fan-made creation on PC; it really brought that spark back for the games, and quite a few people. American Wasteland was pretty up there for the franchise on an official level, maybe even the peak of it. I always hear talks about that installment, and how they enjoyed nearly everything in that game, including the arcade-like art style. Some who didn't care as much for that specific feature, but as a whole, they loved it. Air Shuffles, Wall Shuffles, scoring Billions with one long line of constant combos. The hardcore fans I know, wanted more of that. They couldn't do any of that with a board for Tony Hawk's Ride. They already burned through controllers like crazy, doing all those combos. THPS 1+2 was a bit of a step back towards that direction at least. We'll see if they do anything else with the franchise or not, and whether they bank it or tank it, if they do.

Samus is my favorite female video game character, she's strong, independent, and a straight bada--. I even have the limited edition Samus 3DS XL. Other M was awful a negative -17 out of 10. It took a well established character and turned her from the cool in the face of danger hero and made her a damsel in distress, Samus is anything but helpless. Samus having ptsd over Ridley doesn't make sense cause by this point in the lore she has overcome it, again why 2nd and 3rd party developers need to do their homework before taking on a project like this. Not even going to go into that ridiculously dumb plot twist with m.b. 😐. Most fans don't even count this game as canon cause it make zero sense. Game wasn't just a betrayal but an insult to any fan of Metroid.

Remember when Skylanders started? The feuding Classic and Legend Spyro fans finally found some common ground at the hideous redesign. That series got lucky to have sold so well because the new kids couldn't say no to the toys that locked the entire roster behind a paywall. And to make matters worse, Spyro, Cynder, and Sparx were treated like a tacked on part of an ensemble mostly composed of new characters we never bothered caring about. At least Flavius was awesome, though.

_Halo 5: Guardians_ should be Number 1 on this list. _Halo 4_ may have introduced custom loadouts, perks, and ordnance drops, and completely changed the art style, though the core gameplay was still recognizably _Halo._ But _Halo 5: Guardians_ gave us Spartan Abilities, pay-2-win microtransactions, and doubled-down on the new art style to create a game that was completely unrecognizable as a _Halo_ title. The Arena multiplayer was a sweaty clusterfuck of players running around like headless chickens with infinite sprint looking for those free Spartan Charge kills, Warzone was pay-2-win and always went to whichever team had the best REQs, and the armor customization was just awful.

Special mentions: Dino Crisis 3. A game most fans intentionally deny exists.Somehow the brilliance of 1 and 2 was lost to terrible platforming,backtracking and the real antagonist of the game...the camera Tenchu Z: To be fair, the game isn't horrible, but the switch of platform in this case really killed the franchise. The 4th entry (Fatal Shadows) was alright, but fans wanted Rikimaru, Tatsumaru and Ayame back as the trio Ninja squad. Living those anime moments...Well we go Sekiro i guess. Yay??? Lastly Every Resident evil with a female lead beyond their first appearance. What's that you say? There aren't any? Code Veronica? They're not allowed to age like Chris and Leon?oh... seriously I don't know why capcom is allergic to older female characters returning. It's not like they can't write them as powerful, smart, capable and sexy (Lady D). Love the latest RE games, but it does make us sad to not hear Jill's cool as a cucumber banter with her grizzly colleagues. Cest la vie

The real problem is that it manages to make Spec: Ops seem like it had interesting gameplay/story (if you cut out the major twist and 'no russian' from CoD level of shock moments) and that almost felt like it was made to be as generic as possible

I'll say a controversial one over here cause not many would, but the fact is it's not that I hate, but I am a bit disappointed at some parts of this game. It's the current God of War series. Now before you come out with pitchforks, hear me out. What I loved most about previous GoW games (and especially 3) were the boss battles. They were HUGE. This feeling of Kratos being small fighting against the massive Gods and gigantic monsters had this sense of just how freaking crazy Kratos actually was. One small man against the might of Gods. Not only that, but the multiple sequences within these boss battles (who can forget Poseiden, Cronos and Zeus?) were just so damn good and overwhelming. Coming back to the current games, I agree and love everything story-wise about the new games, but all the bosses and all the Gods (if you've played both games you know what I'm talking about), no matter main or side bosses, are just simplistic human-to-human battles with minor power enhancements that don't feel as strong as they have been projected to be, especially when you compare them with the Greek Gods. It's not that it's bad, but the might of Kratos is much, much higher than fighting one human on one small stadium. That's it. Love everything else by the game though.

Replayed the game 3 times over because the combo mechanics were so fun but I can see why OG DMC fans were upset with the rebranding of their protagonist. Not sure why they call him an angsty teen because I personally found the concept of short sweet dialogues of explicit insults before boss fights quite amusing, as if the game was to say lets jump straight into action which was a change from long boring drawn out, overly serious dialogue pieces you saw in other games. DMC fans swear DMC5 was better but IMO V and Nero are boring as hell.

While DmC is fun, it was also a completely unnecessary reboot. I didn't help that the combat (you know the most important thing in any character action/hack n slash game) lost a lot of depth from DMC 3 AND 4. It was still fun don't get me wrong but the lack of lock on, 30fps and the stupid colour coded enemies really hindered the game for me. The colour coded enemies were the most annoying to me because they cut your attack options down a lot, and in a game where combat is the focus, not being able to use your entire arsenal of attacks kinda sucks. Also while story wasn't really a big factor to me, I found it really struggled with making any character likeable. At least we got some great memes out of it.

The main reason Tony Hawk Ride failed is Activision giving that job to the wrong team. Robomodo were clearly very incompetent, and that’s mainly the cause of failure to Tony Hawk Ride, THPS5, and Tony Hawk Shred (a sequel to Tony Hawk Ride that sold even more poorly). As for the 1+2 remake, its success was mainly because it was developed by Vicarious Visions, who are clearly much better at making games, especially when it comes to remakes (looking back at the Crash Bandicoot N Sane Trilogy).

I have been a long-time fan of the DMC franchise, personally, I was not the least bit disappointed with this game outside of the toned-down difficulty. As far as the story, the further I got the less I thought it was a direct reboot and more of a prequel to DMC3. There were a lot of key character elements that weren't present for Dante at this point that gave me the distinct impression that this was a very young hero just touching the surface of his true potential. As far as gameplay is concerned, the combat and transitions through certain cinematics were nearly flawless. The final battle stands out the most. Even the friends I game with agree it was like playing an intensly animated comic. In short, I don't think the series suffers from it's presence or inclusion into the story, in fact it shows a pattern of growth for Dante.

Other M had so much potential, I get where they were coming from, they wanted the player to feel and visualize the combat Samus must go through to progress through her missions. The fast pace, frantic and dodging, makes sense. but its done so half assed that it just looks like a struggle to do anything. They essentially wanted something along the Kingdom Hearts series, an action rpg move set , and maybe with another try, we'll get that version of the game we deserve.

I 100% Believe that a reboot of parasite eve if done similar to a god of war style reboot, would really be a good hit. I never finished the entire first game, or played the second... and the fact that the 3rd was on psp kind of already tells me it was probably really bad.

I do love DmC, but I only played the definitive edition. They have changed a lot that really does make it the definitive version. Even the colour coded enemies were changed in a significant way. I honestly like it more than DMC4. Cause DMC4 is a really solid combat system, but everything around it feels unfinished or not fun. Like some of the enemies tend to be really annoying to fight, especially with Dante. Though to clarify some things Falcon. I get why that game only ran at 30fps on consoles. The Unreal Engine was not really the best for consoles at the time. Great for PC'S, but consoles really showed that it didn't really work there. Still kinda doesn't cause even the later versions of Unreal still has texture pop in
