Sometimes people can’t just let a video game be what it is and must find fault with anything. For this list we’ll be shining the spotlight on characters that caused controversy, that while some was deserved, most were not. In this video we’ll shield our eyes from Eve’s sexiness in Stellar Blade, pretend we never laughed at Duke Nukem’s juvenile humor, and trust Kojima’s process when he created Quiet for Metal Gear Solid V, along with many more ridiculous instances. Death threats to anyone is just sick and downright evil. But when you threaten someone's kid(s), you know you crossed the line. I get why people hate Abby in TLOU:P2, and Laura just simply voiced the character. She's not to blame and don't forget she's just a voice actress, not a developer who chose how Abby should be. People SERIOUSLY need to take a look at themselves in the mirror and realise how much of a jackass they are and that death threats are NOT to be made against ANYONE! Especially children who had no part in what their parent did!

People just don’t want to put themselves in Abby’s shoes. She was seeking vengeance for her father which is justified because he was literally moments away from creating a vaccine for the infection and Joel stopped him. Joel started to care for Ellie and couldn’t let her die because it would be like losing another daughter ALSO UNDERSTANDABLE even if it meant sacrificing a chance to create a cure. People literally hate Abby because she was avenging her father’s death. Forget all of her physical features.. Loved both games and glad part two got GOTY.

Agreed. I love that Naughty Dog had the balls to go with this story. I love Joel, and hated Abby for killing him, but having us then play as Abby was a brilliant way of showing how the "good" and "bad" guys are only judged as such from the point of view we are given. We love Joel and Ellie because they are the characters we've gotten to know, but Abby wasn't a monster for killing Joel any more than Joel was for murdering her father, or any less justified in her motivation to avenge her father's death than Ellie's to avenge Joel's.

Suffering PTSD, losing friends over their vengeful obsession, being stuck in a love triangle that has pregnancy, and the fact that their target would die anyway if they’d let go of their vengeful obsession (Joel and Tommy would be killed by that horde in the blizzard, and Abby would starve to death on the pillars)

The funny part that I always take away from the thing surrounding stellar blade is the fact that not only is the character of Eve literally modeled after a real life Asian model and actress if I remember correctly. But the individual who actually did the character modeling was also a woman. Also, Kotaku in my mind has literally no moral high ground to stand on because they don’t do journalism. They are nothing more than an agitator website just like rock paper shotgun. I remember during the initial release of battlefield five I believe it was Kotaku that came to the defense of the one individual from the development team, which literally called the detractors “uneducated morons“ and he also said “if you don’t like the game, don’t buy it” which, as we all know happened And battlefield five I think until the release of Battlefield 2042 had some of the lowest performing numbers of any of the battlefield games. Honestly, I think 99% of this “controversy“ is purely designed around simply wanting certain websites or agencies or anything like that to have a quick littledash of limelight.

While the controversy of Rainbow Mika is a very know discussion, but what about our fan favorite Sakura Kasugano? Her first appearance in the Alpha series had impacted the Street Fighter franchise by storm. She is a cute Japanese high school girl who is a tomboy fighter and she is eager to be Ryu’s pupil. They started out to be treated like siblings but Capcom made a weird age gap relationship where teenager falls for someone who is in his 30’s in both SF4 and SF5’s stories. And this cause and unsettling upsets to most western gamers of changing her Character. Hope Sakura can find someone else. Longtime fans prefer Ryu x Chun-Li since the World’s Strongest Woman and Interpol Agent has grown fond of the Eternal Wonderer in Street Fighter 2. There are plenty of fanarts, Chinese comics, mangas, and merchandise of them together is what they’ve loved seeing. Even there is some subtle within each of the game’s stories like taking Ryu out for shopping or saving Chun-Li and Li-Fen from fire with his Haduoken technique. I hope Capcom can make the Ryu x Chun-Li pair canon.

Also, the newer Tomb Raider series is great and playing as Abby in The Last of Us 2 is one of the most interesting things about it and I wish more games would take the risk of forcing the player to walk in the antagonist's shoes.

Look I know that several decisions in TLOUS 2 were very controversial and fans had understandable reasons for the hate towards it but harassing Laura Bailey and sending death threats to her and her son who was a baby during that time, is sick and inhumane! Laura was simply doing her job which btw she did an excellent job voicing her and had nothing to do with the decision to kill Joel. You can blame the writers for those choices but you shouldn’t send death threats to someone just because you don’t like what they do. These are human beings to that were simply doing their jobs on both ends. The same can be said about Erica Lindbeck in 2023 over someone using her voice in an AI video without her consent and to Cristina Vee earlier this year for being an alleged Zionist all because some random asshat made a fake list and they told her to kill herself. I’ve met them and they are the some of the sweetest and kindest people I’ve ever met, all three women didn’t deserve any of the shit that happened to them. They deserve everything for all the characters they’ve brought to life and the joy said characters have brought us over the years. I just hope that someday people will come to their senses and learn to take a second and ask themselves “is this really something to get worked up over?”

She took a different approach after realizing she was wrong. Same for when Ellie abandoned her new family and went to Santa Barbara. Either way, Abby was more justified than Ellie imo.

Art cannot give into PC, because they'll keep asking for more and more to alter your work. When there is a choice on RPGs of playing as male or female I usually choose female because I prefer seeing a cutesy or hottie on screen for the next 100 hours rather than a guy. So when a game has a hot protagonist/character I'm fine with it.
