The worst part about SWB2 is that after EA and Dice fixed it to be the game fans wanted, they cut support for it entirely. Sure we got some extra clone wars content, but man evil EA could have potentially made more money if they stuck with it, especially seeing the awsome mods the game has on pc.

The saddest part about Unity is that it was genuinely an amazing and well-made game but the launch just destroyed it's entire reputation and AC after that have never been the same.....

Leveling system still makes me mad. I had to die a bunch of times to have enough money to upgrade my gear before it would function like a janked version of an old fashioned AC game. Once I got to a certain rank suddenly Arno's a Kenway. It was like earning in game currency so your character can walk in a straight line

I played it way after release and had almost no problems. And it still is my favorite AC because of the setting. Right after that comes Syndicate.

I think an unfortunate case is Mortal Kombat 11. The developers were getting constant death threats (yes, literally,) because the character Mileena was not on the roster. Instead of ignoring all these people, Mileena was put into the game as the final DLC character. there is some solace to be found in the fact that she is the lowest character on the tier list I suppose, but if I were in the developers seats I would’ve either sent her the way of Ash Williams, who was also supposed to appear in the game until he didn’t, or made her a Stadia exclusive and sat back and laughed as the only way to play the character died with the platform she was on.

Perhaps I'd feel differently if it wasn't picked up as a political football, or - more importantly - if the rage brigaid didn't see fit to spoil the whole thing before launch. It also plays better than the first one, of course, unless you bought the remake that came out after.

here's something similar to Shadow of War's Case, the infamous Avengers video game was updated a while later that changed the leveling system, where XP boosters were added in and the xp was changed to make it longer and more tedious to level up, making it where you needed to buy the boosters in order get anywhere

Regarding the PC version of Arkham Knight. Warner Bros and Rocksteady spent 9 months fixing the game, and as such the game on PC is now the best way of playing the game, being as on console the game was also locked to 30fps and still is. Also for people who held on for the fixes, they also gave them the previously released Batman games by way of compensation. The only issue being that for those who owned the majority of the games this compensation was substantially reduced. In my case this meant that only the 2.5D Arkham Origins Blackgate Deluxe Edition was added to my game library.

Mortal Kombat 4 Resident Evil 6(?) Final Fantasy (Anything you pick will be controversial - except XIII I guess) Max Payne 2 (I know no one agrees with me! 🤷) I feel like Soul Calibur and Dead or Alive should be on here somewhere - their profit models are ridiculous. Lot of fighting games disappoint, with crazy microtransactions. Castlevania (whatever is the first 3D one, like MK) Assassin's Creed Unity Grand Theft Auto V (Fight me) I guess this is kind of a jump the shark list. I mean you could even put Duke Nukem Forever on here, couldn't you?

Not really, the parent company of Respawn Entertainment (Fallen Order devs) is Electronic Arts. You could be right in the spirit of the argument, since E.A did grant Respawn more freedom with the game and didn't try to force single player mictro-transactions into it.

Here’s an honorable mention: Final Fantasy XIV. Its initial release back in 2010 was disastrous, to say the least. While the graphics were great, good luck trying to get a PC back then to run it without it looking like a PowerPoint presentation. It was also plagued with many bugs, glitches, cut-and-paste environments, and no way to navigate as it did not have a minimap. There was also many gameplay issues that turned people away, and drove current players out. Square Enix apologized for this catastrophic release and put a new producer and director, Naoki Yoshida, on the game to try and fix it. Fun fact: Yoshida had never worked on a Final Fantasy game before, and actually improved the initial FFXIV game a bit. But he knew it couldn’t be fixed, so he split his team into two groups: one would continue patching the current game while the other would remake it. Eventually, the servers were shutdown and a trailer for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn was shown. The rereleased ARR version actually helped to save the company financially, and over time drew more players in from other games, most notably World of Warcraft. Now, Final Fantasy XIV is one of the most popular MMOs available, and it has an unlimited free trial that will include not only the base game, but the first expansion and, coming in a few months after this comment, the second expansion, absolutely free.

I actually preferred Dinklebot over Nolanbot quite a bit. The dry delivery made him standout from the majority of high pitched, quippy AI companions that were so common. You can't blame Dinklage for the writing.

Nolanbot is definitely a downgrade and not what any person I talked to wanted at all, changed it to a generic sounding character with zero emotion. Don't get me wrong I like Nolan North, he did great in Deadpool but he is not the ghost I wanted, and I do not consider him a WIN

I don't know how many like minds there are. But it really feels like the tank gripes about Batman: Arkham Knight are among the least justified whines in all of gaming media. I love the tank form of the Batmobile and use it as often as possible. Even for normal travel. The quasi-stealthy stalking feel being in tank mode creates is great fun for me. When I get cranky about the Batmoblie is when I have to drive the darn thing. The car form handles like a cow on roller skates. If anything, I wish the Batmobile had only been capable of being the tank version.

The Elder Scrolls Online info is inaccurate. . Tamriel Unlimited was the change a year into release to make the ESO Plus subscription optional, as consoles were getting the game a year after and the sub was making a double dip on subscriptions, so they made it optional. . There still is no option to get everything in one purchase. You can hut all the DLC in the Criwn Store, or take that previously mentioned subscription which gives access to all DLC except the newest Expansion. . The game was always open world, but originally was level locked by zones so you couldn't go freely. The change to the was the One Tamriel update in 2016. . While 3 new classes were added since the original 4, they were not just freely added. They dropped as parts of later expansions in 2017, 2019, and 2023.

luckily i spent no extra money on Shadow of war and only unboxed what i was given in Gold edition ownership or earned by playing and after some time the micros were gone they even shortened the grind needed to finish the game.

Slight correction. You didn't need AC: Unity's season pass to get the free game, you just needed to buy the game and register with Ubisoft. I have never bought a season pass but I did buy Unity and got Far Cry 4 free for my troubles (should have got Black Flag, not a big fan of FPS).

It's been a while since I played Shadow of War, but iirc when they removed MTX they also removed or broke an entire game mechanic. I remember that while MTX were active, they were 100% optional and my gameplay experience wasn't hindered at all by taking the free path. But when I came back to the game later there wasn't even a free option, there's just nothing at all. Consumer loses.

They drastically reduced it. The boxes weren't the problem there (they helped a whole lot) the grind was the problem. Before, you had 10 waves of up to 3 base defences or attacks; so up to 30 battles to wage. Now it's a total of 3 battles & that's it.

Completely fake. I got the true ending without spending any money back when the microtransactions were still in the game. People really overexaggerated how bad the loot boxes were.

Gosh I remember Shadow of War micro transactions, it actually made me quit the game because they would put the coolest and rarest orcs and ogrons or w/e the big ones were called, in the loot crates and force you to fight basic enemies out in the world. I didnt go back and replay it until all after all the dlc was out and I paid like $10 for it. Fantastic game now.

I'll never forgive WB for Middle Earth SoW. It may be petty I'll fully own that, and good on Jules for spinning it positively here, but they only took out the microtransactions *after* they made all the money they were going to off the game. I loved Shadow of Mordor after spending dozens of hours in it, so Shadow of War was a natrual pickup for me. But that godforsaken, impossible grind at the end as well as WB greedily patenting and not even freaking using their outstanding Nemesis system put me off entirety, man.

With Arkham Knight they basically had no choice. The Arkham series all had issues in PC. I remember the earlier games being glitchy and running poorly. Then there was insane control scheme that assumed you were using an Xbox controller with nonsense keyboard bindings you couldn't change.

Developers only take feed back from consumers, when that feedback, doesnt require them to change something that was implemented to boost profitability.. Take for example the use of biased matchmaking systems.. every game that uses it, experiences rapid playerbases degeneration, which eventually gets bad enough the game colapses... Many games have fallen to this, but Developers refuse to revert back to using unbiased matchmaking systems, as a fair system doesnt boost potential for profitability, in fact aruguements can be made they hurt profitability... Overwatch 2 is a prime example of profitability taking priority over everything else

Nolan North was such a downgrade for the ghost in destiny. Peter dinklage did a much more appropriate performance. North made the ghost sound like a generic video game character instead of an alien robot that resurrected a corpse to fight for a dead alien god orb thing.

Square Enix is also pretty greedy, at least they want to be. They're just less successful at it than EA. Avengers was terrible because they wanted it to be an exploitative live service game. Babylon's Fall was another failed attempt at a microtransaction filled live service. They've released a ton of mobile games that are filled with loot boxes. They've done a bunch of stuff with NFTs. Maybe things will change under the new CEO, but it seems they've been trying to break into that sort of thing for a while.

Yeah, some of these games were not a success story for consumers. If it took a year to get anything changed, all it meant was that the playerbase was bilked for all they were worth up to that point, and only then did the publisher "see the light." They still made off with a lot of money using microtransations and loot boxes, so they actually lost nothing while making players feel like they won something. It is kind of like all those butthurt people that had a problem with Budweiser's pro-LGBTQ commercials and decided to destroy cases of Bud Light that they themselves paid for; the company still got their money.

It switch to sub base game with u buying the game still and dlc to but to play with it unlocking certain things with sub unlocking some dlc... basically it got easier to play as well

ESO is easily one of the biggest disappointments. Loot boxes should be required to give you the odds. Many games have less than .500 odds of rolling that ultra rare goodie you want.

Using Shadow of War as your thumbnail or discussing it here is a really bad choice for this video. Consumers LOST really. The SOW loot boxes were perfectly executed & made the game more enjoyable without ever having to spend any money on them, as the game awarded you them throughout. Playing the story would net you around 200 of the things; and you'd keep being awarded them even after completion. I never spent a penny, but the boxes allowed me to get the best possible followers in every area & I had thousands of the boxes left. The game died for me when they removed those boxes. It was a terrible decision made because of people who hadn't even played the game moaning about it. We had a prime opportunity for the gaming industry to learn how to do lootboxes properly, but non-players jumping on the bandwagon totally ruined that. This was a major loss for players, not a win.

I recently started playing ESO. The One Tamriel update wasn't implemented very well. After a short intro where you learn ONLY combat, you're given no information on what portal to use to continue the game. Sure, you can go anywhere, but without some kind of structure for new players, this is a quit moment. WoW's Chromie Time did it better.
