I waved the staff away because I have watched this video and I am a pro That dipping sauce is RICH and oh so tasty. 1st meal on my 1st evening in Da Nang and it was well worth the flight from Kuala Lumpur. 1 down 9 to go LOL. Hi Gary, I was shocked to see you at my local Elephant Inn today!!! Was too shy to come over and say hello and how much I appreciate your channel. I've been to south east Asia many times (Vietnam especially), miss it big time and your channel gives me all these flavours back on my tongue. Love for the love!!!

You shouldn’t be shy to say hello. Gary is one of the most down to earth I have ever met. I ran into Gary by accident in Bangkok and he spent a couple of hours chatting with us at a coffee shops. Many weeks later we met up a few more times to eat at local hidden gems.

I am glad you like "Mắm Tôm" Gary. Foreigners don't know this, but you can/should add "Mắm Tôm" to "Bún bò Huế" and "Bún Riêu" to enhance flavors, in small amounts; but not to "Pho" cuz it clashes the taste. I will be in Hanoi in 9/23, HCMC in 10/23, and Da Nang in 11/23. And Bangkok and Phuket in between those dates; I will look you up Gary. You have food tours, I think...

@Gary you can get calamansis in Thailand…the only thing is you’ve just got to get the plant. They’re popular around lunar new year, and only valued decoratively. (Ppl don’t know what they’re missing out on!) They’re called “Som Jeed” (ส้มจี๊ด) over here. :)

Gary, like your videos especially regarding the food, one of the reasons I'm going to Hanoi and plan to stay a week in Da Nang. Would you please recommend a mid range affordable hotel in Da Nang for a solo traveller? I can't swim but like and enjoy listening to the ocean wave at night but I also like to stay in the downtown area as I can't ride a motorbike. I'd appreciate it if you can recommend a good and decent accommodation Gary. Please advise. Thank you.

Just wondering is it possible to get banh Xeo with meat in it ?? just the prawn?? and also how long do you recommend staying in Danang .. will be there in March next year .. 2, 3, 4 days?? thanks ... and excellent job as always x
@delfin7461 Жыл бұрын
I would spend at least 4 days there as if you go to Ba Nha Hills, that takes up the whole day and it's mostly worth it. The cable car ride up through the mountains is really peaceful and the view is nice. There are tons of museums and of course the beaches are wonderful. And if you are there on a Saturday or Sunday night, at 9pm, the Dragon Bridge breathes fire, which is fun to watch and then you can go to the night market afterwards and enjoy some delicious food. I was there in 2019 for 4 days which was good, but in December, I am going there for 71 days, so I will really get to experience living there. I lived in Saigon for 4 years and it's just too big, too crowded and dirty for my tastes.

@@delfin7461 Thank you for the response... Have booked already and just given myself 2 and half days... We aren't going to Ba Nha hills ... just to wander and eat around Da nang .. @jacc2512 Жыл бұрын
Nah man, in the central we dip in what you call "sốt đậu phộng" or peanut sauce which has mince and other ingredients, it brings a much richer flavour than dipping in nuoc mam with the Banh Xeo version in southern areas. But to each their own, I prefer to dip my Banh Xeo in peanut sauce but nuoc mam is also good :)
