Now just watch a review from a reviewer with similar tastes as you and if it look like what you may like then go buy it. Life is too short to worry about something as trivial as video game "value"

@@Taijifufu Well durable motors and pulleys in small sizes exist and I'm sure you can just use a gauge of cable or high test line that wont break. I don't know of any VR haptics that mimic grip tention outside of this kids invention.

@@cenciende9401 I'm aware that game development has changed and no game is free from an occasional bug or glitch, even during the ps2 era. My problem was based on that quote and given a game like Cyberpunk, which on day 1 was just riddled with game crashing bugs and glitches and poor frames, why would I buy that game at that time? Does it make me a bad person to wait until later down the line, maybe when the game goes down in price and all the glitches are fixed, to buy it? I think that's just being smart with my money.

If waiting until a game drops down to $30 (or less) and buying it then means nothing anyway, then why not save that $30 as well and pirate it for no money? Both choices are equally useless when it comes to greenlight sequels, apparently. If anything, switching to piracy would make the most sense, because then you could save as much of your gaming budget as possible for a much smaller amount of expensive launch purchases. Better to make one launch purchase that counts than three later discount purchases that don't matter at all, right? Then you're actually getting some votes with your dollar.

He explained at length that sales and Sony trying to spend their money wisely were the reasons for why the sequel wasn't picked up. Like I said in my previous comment, the only gamers he was talking about were the type who whine over not getting a sequel for a game they wouldn't even pay full price for themselves. Edit: Plus the guy, John Garvin, left the studio a while back, well before the news that there wouldn't be a sequel. He wasn't going to he involved in any sequel.

I at least don't sub to them anymore, but the monthly videos are at least worth my support in watching them. I feel like it's a complicated relationship and that's not a bad thing, life is messy and I accept that.

Yet over the years, just started to rake in more and more money, then at some time just said ALL THE FUCKING MONEY WE NEED ALL THE FUCKING MONEY!!!!! They are equal parts a major success, a blueprint for printing money and a giant cautionary tale (which nobody will ever heed).

In the case of Brazil, half of the point was missed there: it's not for protecting the children, but because in Brazil the state has a monopoly on gambling. When I was a kid and lived there I had no problems having access to state-sponsored gambling. Nowadays the control is a little more strict, but even if a person under 18 can't participate, they can win. Recently (2018) an 11 years old teenage got a jackpot in a lottery ticket and a judge ruled she should receive the prize.

That part about beating all the high scores makes me wonder if the person left a Switch in the park or a collection of 80's and 90's arcade cabinets. Re: The Mario Kart thing - it's competitive, but the players who are in the last places get a boost, players who are not skilled enough can turn on an "assist" that won't help them win against super skilled players but will prevent them from constantly crashing (a good mode for playing with your kids if you have any), and the blue shell always hits whoever is in 1st place. Those are some of the things that make the game addicting and interesting. I'm sure from there you can figure out what scaling out to broader economic models would mean.

The best part of the EA rebuttal was them referring to a US judge throwing out one case and saying “see, it’s not gambling”, but not mentioning the many nations, that have already or are actively looking at banning loot boxes. Like Brazil which you mentioned. The writing is on the wall and they are desperate to hold onto those billions any way they can.
