The decoy is not an AI moving around, it is an actual recording of a live players game being played back. It will be the real thing as far as the cheaters eyes can tell.

Not to mention the applications this idea can have. If they're completely indistinguishable from normal players, and normal players should never be able to see nor find them is absolutely wild. This would imply, anyone who shoots said Decoy, will be immediately flagged as suspicious. It is something you shouldn't be aware of through normal play. How this will actually be practically is another concern, but it's definitely an Interesting concept. Much like most anything Original or New, people will either try to down it, belittle it, or call it "Ecentric" When in Hindsight, nobody else has nor is thinking of new a method of detecting Cheaters who think they can spoof every bit of themselves away. Falcon is immeasurably foolish for thinking it's "taking the long way around to stop cheating"

From a programming standpoint, if their engine is as open with handles and calls as say Source for CSGO, this hallucination feature shouldn't be hard to isolate and detect from the cheat software standpoint, so I wouldn't say it will work in the long run. They'll probably be able to detect if an entity was spawned by the game with that function if they can find how it's called and used in the engine after some careful hex editor useage. Shit, they may even be able to isolate the function that gets applied to an account once it's flagged for this feature. They'd likely be able to draw a special ESP telling them which entities are players and which entities are fakes the engine spawned for them. Just putting that out there.

The HoyoLab app for Android was not allowing me to access my Hoyoverse account, which I found weird, it prompted a "connectivity problem" and just didn't sign in, the weird part is that after trying lots of times, different networks too, it "magically" allowed me to sign in after I held my phone in front of me, I had been trying to sign in while my phone was sitting on my table, the thing is that the app never requested access to my camera or any type of permission, anyone else had this or a similar experience?

@SpencerfromEarth Exactly. Because trust and believe, people that can manage to do that could absolutely be using their brain power for bad actions. It's actually people that think the same way that that dude does that are assisting in solving all of those old serial killer cases and identifying John and Jane Does, namely from cases that have been cold for decades. TBH anybody that is intensely into puzzle solving or is a staunch completionist when it comes to gaming, are the exact people that are killing it, no pun intended, in that particular field. For anybody that thinks spending 200 hours on working out that skill tree on their own before the game is even out is wasting time, let me offer this suggestion: That person is just exercising their brain. It's fun. It feels good. No one is being hurt. Where's the harm?

As to Story 6, the suspect was declared to be incompetent to stand trial (or a doubt was raised about his competence), which is different than entering a not guilty by reason insanity plea (NGI). Incompetent means the defendant is incapable of assisting in his/her defense, either due to a mental impairment, mental health issue, or learning disability. The defendant is usually then evaluated by one or more psychologists who will determine if the defendant has the mental capacity to understand the court process. If the doctors form the opinion the defendant is not able to understand, the defendant will usually be sent to a mental hospital to get stabilized (with or without medications, depending on the type and severity of mental disorder) and given time to learn about the court process. If the defendant is "restored to competency" at the hospital, he/she will be returned to court. An NGI defense means the defendant was mentally incapable of forming the intent to commit the crime

Coming back to this after a couple months- this is the GTA hacker, right? Most recent thing i heard was HE'S SERVING LIFE in "prison" (in a psychiatric place). It's fucked up... seems incredibly extreme- but he kept hacking and was doing shit on probation apparently under the eyes of the cops too. Lol. He did through an Amazon fire stick. He said he didn't plan on stopping, which is probably why they decided what they did. Still extreme- but they deemed him to be an ongoing and continous threat. But still... LIFE?!... that's just crazy. (I think he may have a chance at being released eventually if doctors consider him reformed and no longer a threat).. people commit murders and attempted murders and other truly heinous acts, and don't even get life in prison.

+1 on the ESRB facial rec take! Warnings that give parents the information they need to make an informed purchase is a good thing. Anything beyond that quickly spins into authoritarianism. Neither a private organization like the ESRB or any government entity should ever be afforded anything that comes close to decision making status in the lives of individual citizens or their families.
@majortellandrus2552
@majortellandrus2552 Жыл бұрын
I really feel like a lot of this is coming from the massive epidemic of parents who just don't monitor their kids. I personally find the ESRB to be nothing more than an authoritarian dictator over gaming studios, because they don't just rate what's in the game. Much like the film equivalent (can't remember what that one is called) if your game has something they don't like they'll just extort you with an AO (or in film an X) rating until you change the game according to their flaky tastes, and there is no standard either it's all based on the tastes of whoever is rating your game. With the rise of parents who are just straight up ignoring the ratings on games it makes total sense to me that they'd think it was OK to decide what's ok and not ok in people's homes and money and invade their privacy to do it, because they were created by Karens, for Karens, and are run by fuckin Karens. Just a bunch of ppl who don't know how to mind their own and shut up.

It is a minimum effort attempt to allow the gaming industry to continue their manipulative real money gambling stuff. One of the major arguments against gambling in games has been the kids. This way they could say they did something to protect the kids, while they continue to destroy the lives adults by manipulating them out of their money.

The facial scanner is for tracking information. A kid takes a phone and downloads a game app to play. Does not know how to read the things they are clicking on. Now the company is tracking information and keeping it from a under age minor who does not know how to read. Having a parent or guardian show their face, is a way to say they must of read and understood the conditions to play the game. Then they can take and track all info they want.

For your #2 rank about the ESRB checking ages. Unfortunately, there are way too many parents who pay no attention to what their children are playing, or even what they're doing online. On the other hand, does it really matter? Except for some possible temporary trauma being exposed to something they don't have the coping mechanisms for, yet, children have always had access to things that some adults claim influence them to do bad things. Personally, I think most kids are smart enough, or grounded enough, not to be influenced to do stupid things. Those who aren't, are just going to be triggered by something else. Games, movies, and books have often been targeted as being the cause of some loony toon doing awful things, but the source media isn't the problem, the problem already exists in the person. I grew up in a generation where we watched the 3 Stooges, Bugs Bunny, Roadrunner and Coyote, and with the exception of a few nut cases, we didn't poke each other in the eyes, hit each other with hammers, or attempt to blow people (or roadrunners) up.

As far as changing a game or story when people figure it out before its released, I like G. R. R. M. viewpoint. I'm paraphrasing but basically he said if you write a story and set up the maid to be the culprit in the next book but someone figures it out... Take it as a compliment that people are so into your work that they payed attention to your foreshadowing. Don't change it just because you are upset the surprise got ruined or whatever. That's what I think about the GTA6 leaks or the Starfield stuff. I think the GTA6 leak was obviously wrong of the individual to do (though if the story was true I hope he gets the help he needs, rather than just going to prison or have his finacial life ruined) I think that people are so rabid for any hint of a product should be seen as a good thing. I also think with the leak thing and I remember people being mad about how "bad" it looked and I think it led to a bunch of people learning how bad most games look in the development cycle. Which is good. It's not a reflection of the finished product and that's one reason leaks like that are kinda pointless. Anyway, I hope Starfield and GTA6 don't try to change things just because someone figured it out before the reveal because usually it leads to inferior replacements. Like if an author switches the story from the maid to the butler doing it, its going to just lead to plot holes and all the work you put into setting up the story meaningless. The cheater thing for CoD was kinda funny, I actually kinda like these weird punishments for cheaters. I loved the one where they put all cheaters in the same game or server as well. IDK how they identify it but as long as it's not affecting players who aren't cheating then I am all for it. God the ESRB thing is stupid. It doen't help that most of the ESRB are also ceos of gaming companies. I don't get how that's not a conflict of interest or at least a biased influence or whatever. Of course the ESRB is going to want to add stuff they can say is "for the saftey of the children" but really only helps these companies profit and damn the consequences of how it could be abused BEYOND just profit mongering. Anyone can make a video game and if it has to have this facial scan to play it, it's just an open door for anyone who wants the facial scan data. Need to unlock someones phone? What do you know the law enforcement agency published a free mobile game and they have your facial data on record that you gave them to use! The abuse cases are way to many and just opens the door for a lot of problems in the future, plus it won't help solve the problem anyway. If the parents don't care enough to read a rating label then they are not going to care enough period.
@MrCode4money

As I understand it. The decoys are to trick the cheat software not the cheaters per se. The basic idea is to give the cheat, for example auto aim, something else to shoot at. So if you've got 4 targets and 3 are decoys then the chances are the cheat will lock onto the decoy not the real player. It's not clear but I suspect that the person using the cheat won't see the decoy like everyone else. So if you're aiming normally then you won't target them. I would also guess that the decoys have no hit box meaning they won't randomly shield or get in the way of a real target. The devs can also run statistical analysis to see if people are cheating. As people who target the decoys more than would be hitting them at random would indicate they are cheating. Seems quite a straight forward implementation to me.

Grinding Gear Games is also owned by Tencent and has a similar deal, but there's little doubt that Tendcent has heavily influenced the way their game has gone since... even if not directly dictating the path forward...

The way that people claims that the Simpsons remake is a waste of time and worthless is BEYOND ME. Probably just mad that they can't play it, but I think the dude who did it must have learned a lot from it, and yeah it's a true display of his capabilities and idk man, all my respect for him. Glad he played it safe

The concern with Tencent is that it's government owned, which is kind of sus the more you think about it despite the developer still being 'independent'.

2:29 "...every Bethesda game..." (shows New Vegas). Bethesda deserves no credit for it, the same way we don't call Doom, Wolfenstein, Prey, etc. "Bethesda games"; Many of their assets and systems were used, but they had no part in development beyond that. Not to mention, they can't dream about making something of equal quality.

❤ I can binge watch these lists! Oh and on the number 2 item, I couldn't agree more. With our lax and inhuman laws that let child abusers go, how can photographing kids to make sure they dont log in to inappropriate games ever be justified? The answer is, it can't. You're right to call it cyber fascism and we shouldn't be so quick to give up information, especially on children. It's careless and dangerous and , well, go*dammit. Enough already. I don't believe what we've mindlessly given away already to the governments and industries that will sell or use information against us. Not for crimes or curfew infractions. They will do it because we let them in the door.

It’ll distract their aim bot snap and wall hacks, they will have to decipher more info in split second situations leading to them dying. If it effects their audio as well that would be best. They should give those decoys flash bangs effect when killed. So the hacker gets flashed when killing the ghost bots

In what is supposed to be a developed society, race should be far from the top of what matters in successful business and educational practices. It's obviously fine that companies praise their employees for success no matter their ethnicity, sexuality or religion and hateful bigots should be called out. But praise should not be given exclusively because of ethnicity, sexuality or religion either.

Hunters in The Division are the closest thing I have seen to AI mimicking real players. If it wasn't for the interference they give off that causes your gear to get all messed up when they are near they could easily be mistaken even by experienced players as being other players.

the cheater thingy actually sounds like a neat idea and I'm pretty sure that cheaters wouldn't tell the difference between real players or "invisible" bots. Thing is that unless those boths do something drastically stupid that tells players that they're bots ... most people are just "in the moment" and are more likely to just shoot instantly at the enemy than try to observe them for long enough to tell if it's a bot or not like if you join a game full of boths, but no 1 tells you they're bots and they act mostly in the same way as humans then people will just believe it's real players unless the bots do something unusual or somebody tells the player that they're bots.

Swatting should be attempted murder period. Also in UK supplying a game to a kid who is underage is actually a criminal offense. I used to work game retail and if I sold a game to a parent knowing it was for a underage child I could have gone to jail for 6 monthd

I wonder if the same guy who was banned 80 times, was the same guy i met a few years ago in a Ranked Rainbow 6 Seige Match. He too, bragged about being banned 18 times during that time, and the man was extremely unhinged. Even spammed his Twitch channel link in the Chat, somehow got it on our screens, and even rage hacked. His KZbin account was how i found out he was banned so many times. He actually counted how many times.

I wonder if the Ubisoft office was surprised about the swatting. Like did they think they were legit getting raided for something shady they did? At the very least you’d think they got swatted for their bad decisions and not for a good one. (Edit) Also I imagine the swat team had enough common sense to realize they were tricked as soon as they were greeted by the receptionist.

The Techland-Tencent story reminds me of that Embracer group thing a while back where they were unable to make a big announcement at their Annual Report... Which strikes me as weird if true, because Embracer OWN Deep Silver, so Techland might have gotten the rights to the Dead Island IP. Might sound far-fetched, but when Titan Quest was getting new DLC made, they went to the OG developers to see if they would be interested in making more DLC for the game.

13:47 If facial recognition for age was required, some people might be screwed. Since I was in my 20s, I look much younger than my actual age. A good example is I was 37, someone guessed that I was 16. Even now, the best that people can guess is I appear half as old as I am.

... people who Swat other people should be charged with attempted murder by proxy. They are well aware of the dangers involved with a swat team showing up at anyone's home or business, and in this guy's case there's clear evidence of a motive, it's clearly premeditated. Hell he should be charged with an act of terrorism, he is actively sending a team of heavily armed individuals into a group of people who are otherwise unaware. The fact he got community service actually pisses me off.
