The Super Pitfall one is weird. It's awful, but terribly catchy. Nowhere near as good as the Pitfall II: The Lost Caverns theme for Atari 2600, and I say this as someone who's always despised the 2600!

The Zone 4 music in Amagon is an ear-piercing high-pitched 4-second loop that makes Lavender Town sound like easy listening muzak. And it replaces both the Megagon power-up music and the boss theme there. FYI, the NES version of 1942 was ported by Micronics, the same shitmakers behind Super Pitfall and the porting disasters of Ghosts n' Goblins and Ikari Warriors. Additionally, BTTF developers Beam Software made the disastrous NES port of the arcade game 720°, which had a similarly terrible soundtrack, especially the title music.

I would add "Rampage" as an honorable mention. Aside from the bonus stage and the stage progression jingle, the entire game's soundtrack was a repeating 5-second loop that lasted for the game's entire 10 hour run time. I was happy they gave this game music in comparison to the silent arcade and Sega Master System versions, but a tiny bit more effort would have been appreciated.

Here are the worst music in any of the NES games: 1. "Athena" - World of Cavern, World of Labyrinth, World of Sea, World of Hell 2. "Wayne's World" (NES) 3. "Total Recall" (NES) - first few stages. 4. "Casino Kid" - Annoying music while you play poker and blackjack 5. "1943" - Low on health.

Friday the 13th's music when you're outside the cabins walking around killing zombies is some of the worst repetitive looped themes. Only reason it might get a pass is cause the music when you're in the cabin is good by comparison. Ikari Waerriors 1 is horrendous as well. Same song all game for a reeeeally slow game. 🤣 😂

The game: The Flintstones: The Rescue of Dino and Hoppy The song: Intro/Castle Stage As you can probably tell, it plays during the intro, but also during a stage. The intro alone is enough to make your ears hurt, but when you get to that stage, and it plays over, and over, and over, on a 5-second loop, you will know the meaning of the word "annoy." I DEFY you to play that stage without turning the volume down. I couldn't even tolerate it as a kid.

“1942” was one of the first NES games for Capcom in 1986 along with “Ghosts ‘n Goblins” and “Commando”. It was a decent shoot ‘em up, and it wasn’t a bad game. It gets really hard. It was based on the original arcade game, and it was a decent port.

I remember a whole entire soundtrack disappointed me. It was the first Paper Mario soundtrack because I played the Thousand Year door before that one and I loved the soundtrack. The First Paper Mario soundtrack is such a disaster with one of the first tracks called "March Ahead" being one of the worst. I had to turn down the volume and put on other music a lot when playing that game. How anyone could like the soundtrack is beyond my comprehension. The game besides the soundtrack I like playing that game. I am amazed you didn't mention the crying baby in Yoshi's Island which ruins the awesome soundtrack hahaha.

I actually never had a problem with the near-death song in Wizards & Warriors, that game just charmed the pants off me back then and all the other music is so good that I just never really felt annoyed by that jingle. Shame about that Last Ninja "song" too, the soundtracks of that series are incredibly beloved on the Commodore 64. The construction of some 8-bit songs just don't translate well from one sound chip to another.

There's also Dash Galaxy, though it would sound cool if it was used like an alarm, like in Metal Gear, Last Ninja would work well in a cutscene and The Terminator, even though sounding really simple, it kinda sounds like The Terminator theme, *kinda*, so I think it works well for the game. The rest, I honestly enjoy.
