To be fair, a lot of wrestlers owe their success to others. Steve Austin wouldn't have been as successful as he was without the Bret Hart feud, the Mr. McMahon character, the Rock rivalry, and being fired from WCW by Eric Bischoff. All of those things helped shape the Stone Cold character. Even Jim Johnston's music played a huge part in getting him over. Brutus Beefcake was also legitimately popular once he adopted the Barber gimmick, and he was a flop when he left the WWF. If Hogan was actually 100% responsible for Brutus's success as people claim he was, Beefcake would have achieved more in WCW.

Especially because while the initial concept for Demolition was clearly a ripoff of the Road Warriors, their personas and especially their in-ring style were very different. The Road Warriors were straight up brawlers without a lick of wrestling ability or experience, who just annihilated everyone they faced. Demolition were brawlers who could wrestle, and they relied on clever tactics as much as brute force. Seriously underrated tag team.
