It got a little dark for the camera at the end, but I took another doe out of the herd under a hot Shumard oak tree that was loaded with acorns, squirrels, deer, and even a couple wood ducks.

Man the deer density in Tennessee must be off the charts you see more deer in a couple hunts than a lot of people see all season. You are a deer killing machine this early season.

I can drive in all directions from my house in TN and easily see 30-50 deer total in the ag fields. They really are all over the place.

Another good one! The trailer, if it's tube frame, put a smaller piece and slide inside the 2 pieces at the break, then weld. Alot stronger! Thanks for sharing, Sir! Steve

Thanks! It’s C channel, except the tongue which is tube. The tongue has rusted out and cracked twice, been repaired with 3 layers of square tube. This was the first time the C channel broke, and it wasn’t rust, just stress from years of bumpy roads.

In my experience, bamboo is phenomenal bedding habitat for whitetails. They treat it how they treat corn when they bed in corn.

I'd put a few layers of flat bar on each side of the C channel and bolt them together with some JB weld. That might hold you off untill you can find a new trailer.

Where I used to live we had a big bamboo grove down the hill, and a smaller one on top the hill. The deer just loved the bigger one for bedding in, AND bucks started rubbing on the bamboo. Just wild to see that. The smaller grove was a hiding spot one day for a doe that must have being pestered by a buck. She bedded in there when my mom was right outside it gardening. Our dogs also could run loose there, and their smells would be all over. There was another time that my mom was almost run over by a deer, again it was that time of year, and no doubt the doe was running from a pesky buck. We moved before I had a chance to shoot a buck.

I could not physically put a dent in the population by myself, they need thinned out. Antlerless limit is 3/day in this unit.

@@CatmanOutdoors That is something I've noticed watching your show. LOTS and lots of deer. I'm always shocked at how many deer you see. It reminds me of North MS in the last '90s and early 2000s when the estimated statewide population was over 2 million. It's not that way at all now, and nobody - pros or ams - knows what happened. Two years ago MS had the lowest harvest since they started tracking it in 1975. I hunt public land in Tate Co, and while you can harvest does during bow season, they only allow a 2 week gun season on does. I envy your situation! I'd be stacking them up too.

@@CatmanOutdoors That's why MS lags behind other states in game management. We've for WAY too long used a macro approach. We now have 3 "zones," and the bag limits are slightly different in each, but not much, and 3 zones isn't nearly specific enough. MS needs a "'unit" system like TN, where policies can be much more specific to the area in question. As you know, deer densities can vary greatly almost by county, sometimes from one property to the next.

All the processer’s I’ve dealt with in Tennessee that are part of the hunter’s for the hungry program do not charge for it but will accept donations

Yup, the processors get paid by TWF to grind the meat but we as hunters don’t have to pay as long as they still have funding left for the season.
