Metalcore is a fucking awesome genre to get into if you wanna master a lot of techniques in the rock and metal side of things(and even a little jazz) Perfect for getting into fast soloing with some popular metalcore songs actually having some actually well-thought shredding that isnt what most boomers would call noodling. Also perfect for rhythm guitar as well as a lot of melodic stuff. Thats what got me into progressive shit.

@@2nerC9 it's the year 2000's, i was around 10 years old and asian living in asia and I thought anime was so cool then I heard banger anime OP and ED, naruto's haruka kanata, bleach's asterisk, FMAB's again and so on, I thought those songs are the fucking and still are then my friend who's also an anime nerd and is older introduced me to silverstein and I think holy shit a song could go this hard? months passed listening to silverstein I thought of buying drums and play silverstein songs but changed my mind for guitars because drums cost so much more lol! then I got tired of silverstein, I've search youtube with top 10 screamo bands and i discovered alesana and other screamo bands then comes coheed and cambria, it blows my mind again 2nd stage turbine blade is this fucking now, then comes BMFV's the poison and scream aim fire and trivium's ascendancy and shogun then the band who I considered the peak of metalcore KSE and my first guitar god Adam Dutkiewicz, I thought their riffs are godly and it pulled me more into metal more than any other band, it guided the anime loving kid into the world of heavier music, I now mostly listen to periphery, VOM, erra and born of osiris and discovered other bands like citadel burning and diamond to dust. never in my teenage years a trash metal song pushed me to play an instrument and maybe there's a generational gap between us, I think you're part of the older group.

Being a gateway genre has nothing to do with music quality. Of course death metal won't bring people into the genre because they're not used to the harsh vocals. They will need softer stuff to ease them into metal. That does not mean death and black metal are not miles better than any -core though

This is sick. Unlike myself, you went straight to the heavy stuff. I started playing back in 2006, and spent almost 10 years jamming to classic rock before starting to learn stuff from bands like Pantera, Trivium, Disturbed, Breaking Benjamin, etc. My guitars haven't been in standard tuning since. I feel like If I'd dove into the things you were playing sooner, I'd be alot farther ahead than I am now.

man ive been playing for a year and 2 months. i feel like ive hit a barrier in my progress. when i practice i just play the same old songs and stuff and i feel like i just CANNOT figure out a good practice routine. i think the hardest song ive gotten decent at playing is Betrayed by A7X. my alt picking is okay, just okay lol. i cant sweep. tremolo picking is tough. and hammer ons & pull offs are kinda tough for me too. on songs like Beast and The Harlot, i feel like im almost at the point where i can play it. i feel like im almost at the point of breakthrough in my playing, but like i said, i just cant figure a good routine to practice with. brother, id be beyond grateful if you could give a little advice. but it makes me happy to see how quick you progressed and i even watch your vids on tiktok too. i love your Nightmare cover. but God bless, brother, and i hope you blow up soon bro, you deserve it!

I hope to hear you in the Guitube world or on the road. Peace to you and yours!
