maybe im totally wrong in this day of social media, but when I was 10 years and bowling , my coaches always said to never keep score during practice because it was really irrelevant and didnt count for honor scores or awards anyway. The year also was 1988 and technology was obviously much different. But I believe that those principles still work and your practice sessions are mostly consistent of either tryin new things or teaching your body muscle memory in order to be able to repeat shots which will only increase your scores. Having lost count of how many 300 games ive bowled, Im saddened that the 300 game isnt a big deal anymore. Good luck to Rocky! I hope he acheives all his bowling and life dreams!
@smacktherack2 жыл бұрын
I agree with the mentality you outlined in your comment. I think practice is more about building consistency in hitting your targets, controlling ball speed, etc. We don’t put too much on emphasis on scores, but we do celebrate new high scores (which this was for him). The videos we share here are less practice and more entertainment. Knowing the score adds to the entertainment value, I think.

This kid is absolutely amazing and to think he is already bowling 200s when most can’t break out of the 100s, that in itself is jaw dropping. Ball in the 10th, looked like ball speed was up a tad and ended up with a flat/light hit. He almost carried it anyways. It's a very normal reaction coming up in the 10th with a perfect game on the line (elevated heart rate and all that). It doesn't matter if it was someone who has had a perfect game, 6 perfect games, or zero, the reaction is the same (i have 8 perfect games myself). I will guess he will get his first 300 sooner rather than the later. His mechanics are pretty solid at 10 years old. Tell him to keep it up and I hope to see him get it soon.
@smacktherack2 жыл бұрын
The speed was probably a bit fast, like you said. I was just impressed he hit the pocket. I have only one 300 and I was so nervous that I was thankful to keep the ball on the lane. I’ll pass along your encouragement and hope to capture him throwing a 300 soon enough.

@smacktherack2 жыл бұрын
You’ll have 300 before you know it, too. I found playing no-tap games helped me with the mental aspect. I’d get nervous even if I only needed to knock over 8 pins (even though I felt confident in my ability to do it). It helped me realize how I just needed to keep doing what I’m doing and forget the rest. I also will pretend that I have 11 strikes in a row and just need 1 more to shoot 300. Nothing quite compares to the real feeling, but it does add some pressure and creates that “must strike” atmosphere.

Not sure we believe in “bad lanes,” but each lane plays different and some are certainly harder to score well on. The pin spotters aren’t the best either. Some place pins off spot regularly and others break frequently. This lane has more early hook than most of the other lanes.

You’re not alone in your thought process but a two-handed delivery is allowed by the rules (and therefore, by definition, is not cheating). One handed bowlers beat two handed bowlers and the opposite is just as true. There are amazing bowlers utilizing both styles. We believe bowling is all about having fun and continuing to improve. The good news is that anyone can do exactly that, which one aspect that makes bowling a great game.
