We all know sugar is everywhere and in almost everything. We know it’s not the best for us, we know we probably consume too much of it.
But what if you broke your addiction? What if you no longer NEEDED that piece of cake or felt bad after having some chocolate?
In this video, I want to share my sugar journey and how I haven’t been addicted to refined sugars for almost 10 years.

@@labotraduc8448 actually no I believe a different philosophy than that. I’ve lost half my weight since I initially wrote this. I am almost back to my usual weight I’ve been for the last 10 years. I discontinued most sugars and carbs in my life by only limiting myself once a day of the week. I still ate everything I enjoyed but with better ingredients and also cutting out seed oils and only using avacado oil and virgin olive oil for example.

Yep yep yep!!! Agree with you 💯 we need food regulation in the USA but big corporations are so greedy and needless to say, they don’t care about us. They work with big pharma so the more crap they put in our food, the more likely it makes us sick. It’s just an awful ugly cycle, it’s truly evil.

Im 4 weeks in to no sugar, no carbs. HUGE difference. Its been a struggle with cravings, headaches, and moods in first week/10 days. Ive lost 6.5kg down to 89kg (178cm tall) without doing much physical exercise. I have more energy, sleeping better, waking up fresher, cognitive clarity, my taste has changed to tolerate "bland" food a lot more. Will keep going after 30 days but will ease up and reintroduce carbs. Hang in there if youre trying this, its worth it!

Ahhh that’s so frustrating 😔 sometimes the best way to bring about change though, is just implementing it within yourself. Others around you will notice, maybe you’ll inspire them and a greater movement will begin. The more demand we have, the more they will have to supply to match. I really do feel that we have a healthier and brighter future to look forward to 🙌🌈

thank you so much for this video. There are too many experts out there who preach a strict no sugar policy and I think instead of creating more freedom it creates more fear and obsession. I like your approach and I myself follow a similar approach. I love your balanced approach to living "sugar-free". It's not all or nothing. It's more about health and self love, than restricting yourself. The point you made at the end is really important. You can have a little refined sugar from time to time. The body can definitely handle it. In my opinion UPF is more evil to the health of the human body, than a little table sugar. Good on you!!!

That simple and no In between. I want to challenge myself to quit sugar, but I know it will be a fight because of my lack of discipline.

I won't promise to completely cut out sugar, but I'm going to tremendously reduce my sugar intake. My extreme addiction cause me not not drink water only juice for the entire day, eat cake and chocolate every single day and multiple sugary snacks each day. Now, I'm going to as much as possible drink only pure water and occasionally flavored cranwata. Avoiding chocolate completely for now. Only eating cake when I attend functions/parties that serve it (which I hardly ever attend). Aim is to lose at least 50lbs before the end of 2021.

I’m on day 6 of no sugar and it’s KILLING ME!!! I want cookie dough, ice cream, Oreos, and pancakes, so so badly. I had to look away from the screen in the beginning. It’s crazy how addictive it is. Edit: the foods she showed to swap out also have sugar in them ☹️ Edit Day 9: The intro didn't faze me. I found recipes really low in sugar so maybe it's cheating? The added sugar is 1 teaspoon of honey and a little bit of almond butter... Overall like 7 grams of added sugar in this dessert- the rest is banana and some other things. I don't crave things as much as I used to but I'm scared that's because of the extra little splash of sugar I mentioned Edit: day 11 I think I broke. I had bread that has sugar in it. No regrets. Oh and I made my own pasta sauce!! 10/10

@@leahdashes9421 i first started by going from hummingbird drinking a 6 pack a day on average of Mountain Dew. I quit drinking soda by reducing it little by little with club soda until it was hardly any Mountain Dew then found some inexpensive real lime flavored seltzer water and started drinking that instead. Then recently i had been moving twords a much more healthy diet because over the years i am seeing symptoms of pre diabetis as well as high blood pressure, getting around 200 lbs, etc Well to make this a long story i told my cousin once when she was going to the dentist, that if we only ate good vegetables and meat like nature intended we wouldnt have dental problems. That remark kept sticking in my head for the last 5 years. So when i got my most recent dog i decided i was going to feed him as nature intended by making his dog food with 90 percent meat, bones, skin and organs and very little vegetables at all. So to finish the point i was coming up on an annual physical and decided it was time for a lifestyle change. On October 11th a monday morning i started the program. Coffee with heavy cream 8 grams of 80% cacao chocolate, followed by 60 minutes of cardio 5 days a week. No breakfast big lunch primarily a steak, half avocado, sauerkraut, baby green salad with red onion, pepperocini peppers, fetta an an olive oil or avocado oil base dressing. Then for dinner early evening before 7 pm, a light meal like a piece of raw salmon. If i snack its small handful of brazil, macadamia nuts, pumpkin seeds, pickles or green olives. Do this program 5 days a week then eat pretty light on the week ends. So far its worked well lost around 16 lbs in a month and off my blood pressure meds. Im no longer hungry and like that tiny bit of chocolate in am i could do without its not important in terms of the sweetness, its about the anti oxidant properties and i burn it immediately with exercise. Fact is everything that has sugar or tends to be sweet is sickly sweet now. Doesn’t taste good anymore.

@@leahdashes9421 i forgot my point about making my own dog food. He is 2 years old and his teeth are spotless, no brushing required. His breath never stinks and his poop is small and compact and not smelly, it dries up white as snow and disintegrates within a few days during the summer. I add canned pumpkin, turnip and mustard greens, kelp and some blue berries to the food i make for him out of 90% chicken leg quarters, livers, hearts and gizzards as well as some green beef tripe and s half of a sockeye salmon. I grind it all up in a meat grinder skin, bones and meat and blend it together by hand then stuff it into sausage chubs and freeze it then cut it into 4 oz servings with a band saw. I also smoke pork neck bones for him and cut up pig heads into chunks for him with the band saw. Oh snd he gets a chicken foot for breakfast every morning. It sounds rather involved but i make enough ground food to last my 20 lb dog 6 months and cutting up a frozen pigs head with a band saw is relatively quick. To get to the point the garbage they use to make dry dog food is 70% plant based and only 30% protein max. Dogs are largely carnivorous but can tolerate some vegetables from adapting to living with humans. Bottom line is they were never meant to eat 70% plant based diets and look what it does to them. The same issues it does to us. Rots their teeth, makes them fat and unhealthy and im willing to bet, a lot of the diseases they face like cancers, etc are completely diet related. So we shall see if i am correct in that this is the first dog i have never fed dog food to that i have owned. He is the second of the same breed and his predecessor lived to 13 until his back hips quit working. Im betting this dog will live to at least 15 without health issues. Will be interesting to see and it directly relates to the carnivore/keto diet we are doing.

This is great and I’ve also started breaking this addiction. However, it’s important to know that our bodies don’t distinguish between natural sugar, fruit sugar, refined sugar. Fructose the sugar in fruit is actually worse for us because it goes straight to our liver and is stored as fat. This is why fruit juice is so terrible. Honey, maple syrup, etc are all sugar. That said, consuming moderate amounts of fruit and things like honey etc is fine for most of us, but we need to be very careful. I used to consume massive amounts of fruit thinking it was healthy, but ended up with early stages of fatty liver disease. I’ve cut back dramatically. Bread and other starches are also problematic when consumed in large quantities because the once we eat them they’re converted into sugar as well. This was my problem as well.

Great video! ☺️ At the moment i’m in the process of quitting refined sugar. I still unsure how to manage my relationship with it in order to not fall into addiction again, but I hope overtime I will learn. 🌸 🙏🏼

Thank you! Honestly, it's a long process. You just need to have a think about why you want to consume less and how you can make that sustainable for you. You will sometimes fall back into times where you may consume more than you like, but it's about being kind to yourself and in it for the long haul, for yourself 😊🦋

the whole idea is impressive but all the swaps are also containing sugar, which means it's not a cold Turkey quitting, it's just the change of source, actually I implemented similar swap choices when I was a teen and wound up consuming more sugar. because I assumed that natural and unprocessed sugar isn't sugar. but 100 gram honey alone contains 1.5 times more sugar than the same amount of processed milk chocolate . and although they all say honey contains a bulk of antioxidants, its sugar can still affect the body in all ways that processed sugar will. Besides, as I hadn't completely cut out sugar with these kinds of snacks being part of my diet I still had my cravings and insulin tolerance. sometimes I used to over snack and with every relapse on my diet I would over indulge sugary products.

First of all, fruit is OK because it digested differently due to it's nutrițional content. Honey and other syrups are mostly the same to sugar. But using low amount of natural sweeteners (Stevia rebaudiana, monkfruit, Yacon syrup and erythytol) is OK and some cases, somewhat beneficial (in the case of monkfruit and Yacon syrup). Because they have the glycemic index of zero.

It's funny how americans say "sugar is everywhere, in everything" I don't think we have that in Europe (ofc still lots of sugar but ingredient based home cooking is much more popular rather than buying packaged premade food)

I've been reading books by Americans. Their food system was altered greatly by several political plans to maximise food production and minimise costs but the result is massive health care costs, huge rates of obesity and illness and poisoning of the food system with chemicals. And yes, sugar or Hugh Fructose corn syrup is one of the top 3 ingredients in all packaged food. It's chilling to see what a country can do to its people in the name of "providing health".

Everyone is so different, so we just need to try and figure out what works best for us. I have dark chocolate every night and will happily eat cake etc on special occasions. But I also LOVE the food I consume on a daily basis and don't feel restricted or deprived. I know that I love a sweeter breakfast in the morning so I alternate between porridge and banana toast. It's about being in it for a long haul, being kind to ourselves and looking for sustainable options, not quick fixes. I wish you all the best! 🦋😊

I’ll never feed my children any thing related to an addictive compound in the first years of their development

Yes such is normal. Your body is showing withdrawal symptoms and so you start to have headaches and feel tired and all those other things but I promise if you are able to overcome that hurdle and persist after that time then you would find yourself feeling much better at the end of the day. If you are scared of feeling that way then I think you should look for a time where you are less busy I won't be going out as much as often so that if anything happens you would be at home to rest

Thank you for this video! im trying to leave my sugar addiction... i have stopped with soft drinks but its been really hard for me to cut foods that im used to like chocolate milk, chocolate portions after a meal or cookies... Anyway, do you think stopping eating sugar could be also affecting your mental health positively?
@lauren_hogg
@lauren_hogg 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Milena! I think it has helped my mental health for two main reasons: 1. I don't experience sugar crashes or big lapses in energy that come with refined sugar and, 2. I don't feel guilty about eating sugar or not as, as I have broken the addiction, I don't crave it and therefore won't binge or, when I do have it, I only have the amount I want and that's enough. I wish you all the best and remember to be kind to yourself on this. It's a really difficult thing to do, but something I feel is very worthwhile and I really hope you can experience that too!
