For the 20th anniversary of the show, we should all mail copies of Thorn Birds to Seth. But hollow them out, and put Mac Tonight figurines inside. . .
@JeffRLord8 ай бұрын
On March 31 2020 I tweeted to the Seth Meyers account the fact that the attic bookshelf prominently included a copy of the Thorn Birds in hardcover. It seemed so unlikely to me -- that he would have read and kept a copy of that 1970s book -- that I had to comment. I don't know if that tweet of mine was the impetus for the whole Thorn Birds craziness that followed, but just hoping/thinking that it might be was honestly one of the things that helped get me through the early stages of the pandemic. So I don't know if I can factually take credit (or blame), but thinking it might be true is a lot of fun for me. The weird community that developed during that time was a godsend. And of course, go Corrections!
@sherinameless16188 ай бұрын
@@JeffRLord I am sure that Seth took note of your comment, decided to run with it by bringing in an ever-increasing number of copies, and then that inspired him to use the stuff around his in-laws' home, which brought us the Sea Captain, and the rest is history! Being enamored by late night talk shows dating back to Johnny Carson, I have to say that Late Night with Seth is my favorite. And now I know why - the back of house kindness shines under the lights. This is the key ingredient to a great show. Seth is the perfect host, putting guests at ease and the perfect boss by spotlighting his phenomenal staff who are crucial to the show's excellence. Seth is the only celebrity I feel like I know. He has such a kind energy at the same time as being THE funniest person on TV, and it’s broken down my barriers to parasocial connections. I love closer looks, I enjoy the guest interviews, and I treasure the comedy genius of corrections, which feels to me like the most hilarious and cosy piece of art on the internet. Through the pandemic, Seth maintained his warm connection with his audience like no other late night host. In times of great personal stress and anxiety, Seth was the friend I could call who would make me feel better. I’ve seen corrections straight through at least 5 times. Sitting with a family member in great physical and emotional pain, after talking them down from a ledge and singing them to sleep, I recently turned on a random corrections episode to calm down. It made me feel like a person again, and reminded me that the world has a lot of good in it, in a way that saccharine and trite inspiration porn or religious works have never done. You don’t know me, but if you’re reading this, thanks for being a friend.

I thought I was the only one who feel I was boosted up during the Pandemic- and here we are! A Community. Wow!

Anyone else think the narration was Sarah Koenig? Just me? That is a compliment to the narrator! Really enjoying listening to this and learning about the show's history! ❤

You all feel like family to me and I love what you have all created. Seth Meyers is just a naturally kind person. You all saved us during the pandemic and kept me from going insane. ❤

Seth and his team got us through some of the worst times. There were days I didn’t smile until I watched A Closer Look. Some days I laughed til I cried. Life goals is day drinking with Amber. Love her.

That was lovely, thanks for sharing. Never missed a show. My favorite, possibly throw away joke, and very deep cut, was "3 sips of LaCroix"

This is so great! I love this show in general and I pretty much only see it on KZbin. I'm an OTR trucker and I have very early mornings, so I always TOTALLY look forward to watching the previous night's "A Closer Look" (and all other segments) when I'm winding down after very long days of work. I even sing the theme song to myself in my truck!😅This whole team is amazing, thank you for all your hard work to make these insane times more tolerable!!

As cool as it is finally hearing Mikey the Shoe's real voice, I was still hoping for it just to be Seth's impression.

Thank you for this! I love the show and it's fascinating to see how it all came together. One thing I really appreciate is how genuine Seth is. I loved Strike Force Five (brilliant!), always listen to Family Trips, Corrections, and of course Late Night. I recall seeing an episode of Say Yes to the Dress when Seth brought flowers to a veteran; she was a big fan so he surprised her when she chose her dress. It was such a kind gesture and Seth was so gracious. I also love the Meyers family on Thanksgiving and whenever they appear on the show or on Family Trips. Seth exudes both warmth and wit, my favorite combination. So extraordinary. 💐
