10 years with my Nokia 6230i !

I got a new mic! So I made a video where I talk nonsense as I put my ancient Nokia 6230i back together after its yearly cleaning.
Story time!
I got it over 10 years ago from my drums teacher. He got it for 'free' as he renewed his phone contract but didn't want to learn a new phone. So 50 euro later I owned the (then) latest Nokia that would've set me back 250+ euro otherwise!
10 years later it all still works, the vibration is a bit tired, but everything else, including the 1.3 megapixel camera (mega!) still works.

I blought my 6230 in 2005 used it every day change the battery 2 times changed the screen 1 time and repair the power button 2024 its still working 😁

Of course 1gb mmc its so expensive 12 years ago i bought 256 mb mmc for nokia 3660 with price 50.000IDR (3,49$)🤣🤣😅 but 256 mb its big enough capacity for that time😅 now i using phone with 32gb ss card

I always bought Nokias since the 5110, but the smartphone i got now (Lumia) isn't up to their quality standards anymore. Buttons broke on it already and it lags a lot. I guess MS went and screwed up that fine 'nuclear holocaust survivor' reputation.

Nice well maintained mobile device! I used to have similar don't remember exact model now. Than upgraded to n95 8gb which I used for 7 years till last year (did some repairs on it as well). Went for one of Japanese manufacturers device, they have "compact" versions and good batteries (unfortunately not that easy removable any more).

Does the phone read the 1GB? I've heared that the limit is 480MB

Yes, it reads the full 1GB. I think I may have heard 4GB is the limit, but I haven't tried. The MP3 browsing is pretty slow, wouldn't be a great experience with 4GB worth of files. The quality isn't great so no need to compress to any more than about 96kbit mp3..

@@Huku56 I've only had 1GB installed since 2005. Of course it is a bit slow browsing pictures and MP3's. I think it is just an old phone, I doubt it would be much faster with a smaller SD card.

Ive had my 6230i from new, still works fine. Never taken it apart to clean. My memory card, although SD size has different contacts on it. (seems to work ok though) Can't stand smart phones so if it ever dies I will get another old Nokia

+Deckles Yep, the 'omni' one which has a nice range so it goes nicely low and high, even though it picks up more background noise, I find the voice to be quite natural.

+Rin Hato I normalized the audio in software which is a little unnatural, and there is some noise but at least I recognize my voice unlike most 'gaming headsets' where there are no lows or highs :-)
