I love when this movie is given it's due as the first zombie movie to have running zombies. Their mobility and or intelligence is affected by both time and method of death. Those zombies are also horribly overpowered. To the point the third movie they had to give them some weaknesses. Considering head shots were useless, pieces could still come after people as well as animals and insects could be infected, and burning them just made more.

Oooooooooooohhhhhh I found it!!!! The zombie movie that totally did something different and I thought it was hilarious. It's called Aaah! Zombies!! 4 people end up eating contaminated ice cream (Military Goo meant to make super soldiers) at a bowling alley, and they find out shortly after. They think they've become super human and still see themselves and the world normally. But in reality, they have been turned into zombies. And everyone else in the world see's them as gross deformed zombies. But from their own perspective they are still normal people who look healthy and talk to each other. It's a really creative idea and actually a pretty funny film. It's not like a high budget movie by any means, it's definitely a B movie campy story cult classic kind of movie. But it's totally worth a watch.

"American Zombie" really deserves a mention here. A dry wit mockumentary about the reintegration of the 'living deceased' into mainstream society, it definitely was a fresh approach to the genre. It had its fair share of plot holes and loose ends, but they added to the flavour of the filming style, making you acutely aware of the social bias and skewed agenda inherent in most indie documentaries. "We're here! We're dead! Get used to it!"

Years ago, after seeing that movie "The 6th Day", the movie didn't quite go where I was expecting it and I offhand mentioned to a friend that it's been awhile since Schwarzenegger had played a tried-and-true villain in a movie (his horrendous performance as Mr. Freeze notwithstanding). So I suggested what about a movie where, for the first half, Schwarzenegger maybe played the hero to a group of survivors, only to be infected by something like a zombie/vampire/whatever midway through and become the main antagonist from that point on for them? I basically had in mind a less-sci-fi, more horror-oriented version of "The Terminator". Anyhow, when I'd heard Schwarzenegger was due to be in a zombie film a few years ago--which ultimately turned out to be "Maggie"--I kinda felt we're almost getting closer to that happening. It could either be one of his best films ever made, or an abominable laughing stock that destroys his career for good.

If you haven't already you need to watch In The Flesh, it's only 2 Seasons long, 9 Episodes in total, but it puts a new spin on the Zombie franchise, & also Les Revenants "The Returned" (not the movie, but the 2 Season, 16 Episodes series) it's in French, but it does has English Subtitles if you don't mind that kind of thing, also the English version series is ok too, it's only 1 Season, & 10 Episodes long...lol

I thought In The Flesh was a bit slow to get started, but once you get past the first few episodes, it really finds its mark and ends up being great. Highly recommended to anyone who likes zombie media!

You saying Paranorman just gave me a blast from the past, gonna go watch it now
@sammyelliott_4 жыл бұрын
Its not a movie but there was a very short lived TV show called in the flesh which managed to be about zombies but also about self acceptance and the main character is a definitely not straight guy who has to deal with both being a (medicated and thus able to pass a human) zombie and being gay and it gave me many feelings and I am still mad at BBC for not giving us closure on the cliffhanger at the end Also yay for Ash and more horror content! I don't watch a lot of horror because I'm a weenie with anxiety but I also love film so this is a perfect place for me to learn about horror films without having to watch them!

@HarleyQuinn-nl7zv3 жыл бұрын
Dead meat focusses on kills rather than top ten, they only talk about 1 movie per video. This channel does top ten and talks about more than one in each video. Edify yourself sir.

@Lee McDonald I used to, but well now find it to be a good movie. Sure its has some things that are pretty stupid once you think about it but I don't think it gets dragged to far down because of it.
@whyme164 жыл бұрын
@Lee McDonald its because the movie wasnt all that great but warm bodies was pretty unique because the zombies could become human again and a lot of what made them zombies was their loss of self/humanity. They had lost memory and the only way to get any feel of humanity was consuming human brains where they could relive that persons memories
@Xylarxcode4 жыл бұрын
@Lee McDonald No, I fully support you in this. Warm Bodies was NOT my cup of tea at all. To me, it struck me as one of those movies where the concept got taken way too far. Just because something hasn't been done before doesn't mean it should be done. Nor does it mean it will turn out any good. Yes, you can take a concept and turn it on its head by introducing factors that no one has before or by changing some rules. Some of those work out and become great, some of them are stupid AF. This movie, to me, falls in the latter category. You can only stretch a concept so far before you start to lose the essence of what it originally embodied and Warm Bodies takes the concept of a zombie movies and takes into a territory that, in my opinion, renders it unrecognizable from the original concept. 2/10 movie. Hated it to the very core of my being. The only reason it gets as much as a 2 is because I do admire the support of its fanbase for this movie, so it must be doing something right for a lot of people. Not for me, but apparently there is an audience out there for it, so I can't help but have some respect for that.

as much as i'm a fan of 80% of the movies on this list, not one of these beat THE DEAD DON'T DIE. it broke every rule, every wall, every possible logic in the genre. a true masterpiece.

Open Grave, [REC], The Crazies, Cargo, Re-kill, the Cured, Mutant (1984), 28 Days Later, The Girl With All the Gifts, Maggie, Wyrmwood, the Battery, Night of the Living Dead, Night of the Creeps, and Dead Set should be on this list as well. Each are excellent and diverse in their own way! Love Zombies and all things horror!!! cheers from Canada, Ash!

Not enough zombie movies feature a dual rear wheel. It should have made the list for that alone. It is a shame the film just kind of...ends though.
@kuramayoko234 жыл бұрын
Emjay Dunton I think the reason why it just ended was that they were not sure if it would do well as it is very unorthodox for a zombie film. I think they should have left a few things open for speculation though. Leaving things open doesn't always make a film bad, and in this case it probably would have helped it.
@mrcritical67514 жыл бұрын
Cooties came off more depressing than funny for me, those poor kids were just living their lives and enjoying what they liked to enjoy and then suddenly they have their humanity ripped from them and they become ravenous little monsters who devour their parents
@kuramayoko234 жыл бұрын
Mr Critical zombie movies are rarely funny and Cooties was very depressing. But it did have an interesting take on the genre if you ask me.

Oh man, wouldve loved to see "the night eats the world" on here. Basically it follows one man who holds up in an apartment while you watch him slowly lose his sanity as he gets more and more reckless. The use of silence is phenomenal on building the suspense.
@mekkio774 жыл бұрын
Another vote for The Night Eats the World. I love how in the beginning Sam barely talks. Instead, everyone talks around him at the party. Then for the rest of the movie, his is the only living voice we hear again. And I agree, the silence is so unsettling. You find yourself getting jumpy whenever you hear something and it isn't come from Sam.
@threedog02144 жыл бұрын
@@mekkio77 the lack of dialog is awesome bc when ge actually does speak his words feel important, also the movie does a great job on showing complacency with your situation instead of trying to live.

I'd add the original _Day of the Dead_ to the list, because it has a psycho human villain in Captain Rhodes, a bat guano crazy Dr. "Frankenstein" Logan trying to end the zombie apocalypse by _domesticating_ them, and his crowning success, "Bub", the loveable zombie who Logan tries to reteach such simple tasks as shaving, reading, and listening to a Walkman.
