They should've cameback atleast for Goliad who didn't learn anything. Stormo Finn's son, I'd say he'd be the one to be mind controlled as result of actually asking one question:whats the point of cotinuing to fight if all they're doing is dying and more importantly questioning if Goliad trully was enitrely wrong. It would've been an intersting use and critism that PB deserves for refusing to learn her lesson, because in the past she failed to teach her child how Rule as a Good ruler, she now comesback as an adult Sphynx bent on absolute control of her people, to keep them "safe".

Its kind of interesting. If ya think bout it, Bubblegum had an idea as to how Stormo would turn out and win. Stormo was born to give himself up to protect everyone, cuz of Finn's heroic dna and she knew it. Its even sad when ya realize Finn's son, first thing after being born stopping his sibling for all eternity. And even more so, PB never "dismantles" Goliad or makes an attempt to help Stormo. Either she has no interest, thinks its fine as is, or cant find a solution. Cuz ya gotta admit, Finn riding a sphinx into battle, awesome!

The fact that Princess Bubblegum has that trait in her shows she's actively trying not to be an absolute menace to the Land of Ooo. It makes me realize maybe she isn't all that evil or at least, she's trying to be better.

Spoiler warning: She's definitely one of the most complex characters in the show, I honestly could write an essay on her. Everyone is so quick to hate her, but honestly, I think she's done pretty well for growing up without any kind of family besides Neddy. I see it as she was a control freak because she was used to only relying on herself, because no one else was gonna keep her alive, take care of her, or get things done . We all see how messed up Marceline is from her childhood, but at least she had Simon, her mom, the humans of Ooo, even her dad to an extent; for a short while(not downplaying what she went through, but there are interesting parallels between them). Bonnie never had that really, unless you count her cousin, aunt, and uncle who didn't love her and just wanted to get rid of her after a few months. She sees the candy people as the family she never had and will protect them no matter what, which results in her doing shitty things for their safety. Especially after she started throwing herself into her work and isolating from everyone she cared about for the sake of her kingdom, she never let herself breathe and reflect on her shortcomings. She's burnt out from never stopping, hundreds of years of neverending workloads and diplomacy. After she resigns as princess we see her start to slow down for once, actually reflect, and work on herself. I agree she's shitty in the earlier seasons and I don't fuck with that, but when people watch the whole show and still hate on her so aggressively it makes me wonder. Everyone got their own opinions though, she just fascinates me. Anyway sorry for the novel I'm just an adventure time nerd lol

Spoiler ahead NUX I think this actually foreshadows the early candy kingdom very well. She tried to control the gum people this same way but they were too smart to be ruled with raw power and fear. Eventually they revolted. So she resorted to making her people dumb enough to succumb to absolute authority. Although, in the Banana Guard Painting episode, she sees that she may have gone too far with them, so you see her mellow out a bit. But that ended up not working because everyone voted King Of Ooo to be the ruler.

Crazy thing is that when Stormo and Goliad begin their stalemate there is actually nothing stopping PB from just killing Goliad but she doesn’t. Instead she lets Stormo spend eternity fighting his sister simply because PB sees the issue as resolved

Fun facts about this episode: On Princess Bubblegum's chalkboard, she has drawn something similar to carbon trioxide, but it is in an impossible oxidation state. Princess Bubblegum did not wear her royal crown for the entire episode. However, it was seen on her in Finn's mind when Goliad was trying to read it. This is the first time Princess Bubblegum wears glasses. When Finn and Jake enter the preschool, one of the Candy Kids harassing the caretaker is waving a toy truck with おいしい [oishii], which is the Japanese word for "delicious," written on it. In the fight between Finn's mind and Goliad, Princess Bubblegum says, "She's far too powerful," although she did not say that in talking about the plan when Goliad stormed into the castle. The candy people Jake spit up at the end are Chet, a marshmallow kid, and Peppermint Butler. They are not seen anywhere near the candy tower after Jake spits them up; this could be an error or they just fell down which could have probably killed them or leave them seriously injured. Goliad's fur is the same color as Princess Bubblegum's hair and skin color, while Stormo has blonde hair like Finn. In the lab where Goliad is introduced, there is a poster on the wall with a similar layout to the periodic table, but it is labeled "Fructology," likely a reference to the simple sugar, fructose. Among the candy kids there is one that bears resemblance to Peppermint Butler, although his eyes are black instead of white as Peppermint's are and his arms and legs are white unlike Peppermint's that are red. This is the first time Jake exploded in rage. When Princess Bubblegum takes a piece of hair off of Finn's head, she is wearing her lab coat. However, when she remembers this event later in the episode, she is seen without the coat. This is most likely because she hadn't slept in days. Episode connections: Princess Bubblegum refers to the events of "Mortal Folly" and "Mortal Recoil" in this episode when she talks about her close call with death. When Finn tries to block Goliad out of reading his mind, he distracts himself by remembering baby Finn singing the Baby Finn Song from "Memory of a Memory." Both Goliad and Stormo will be shown in a cameo in a later episode. Cultural references: "Goliad" is the name of a town in Texas where the second battle of the Texas Revolution took place. Tom Herpich thought the town had a cool-sounding name, and he decided to name the character after it. Both Goliad and Stormo resemble sphinxes, creatures that in legend possess attributes of three creatures: the human, the lion and a large bird. While Goliad and Stormo both have lion-like bodies, the bird and humanoid features vary between them. The stalemate between Goliad and Stormo resembles the mythology of Lost. The concept of two deities in an eternal stalemate is also found in various religions. This is one of Adventure Time's many hints towards mysticism. Errors: When Princess Bubblegum was recalling the event of taking Finn's strand of hair, she was dressed in her night gown instead of lab coat. Finn also makes a slight move when PB took a strand of his hair even though he did not in the last scene. Princess Bubblegum's hair tie changes colors from blue to pink. There was no orifice on Stormo's forehead, but when the psychic battle starts the orifice appears. In addition, Goliad's orifice disappears when she is watching the candy preschoolers climb up Jake's body while trying to get into his brain. When Goliad was mind controlling several candy people, some of them appear repeatedly. On the August 1, 2012 airing, it ended with the credits from another Cartoon Network show MAD. There are various continuity errors regarding the cubbyholes and the things inside them during the time Jake and Goliad stay inside the preschool. When Jake is yelling at the candy kids a table, a drawing board, and a board that were in there disappear. Jake and Goliad leave the door of the preschool open but later it is seen closed, then open again. When Jake and Goliad first enter the preschool there were three papers on the board that was next to a table, later only two are seen. There was not a clock above the door of the preschool when Jake and Goliad first enter. When Princess Bubblegum is guiding Finn and Jake to her underground laboratory her lab coat is dirty, later it is seen clean. Also, the right sleeve had some extra button that disappeared. When Princess Bubblegum first is seen walking down the stairs to get to the laboratory the dress she was wearing covered her feet but in a later scene it was shorter and showed her bare feet. The hole Goliad makes on the castle wall changes shape when Finn and Jake get there. When Princess Bubblegum was about to sleep, she was sleeping in her chair, but later on, she was sleeping on her bed.

Goliad is empty. Without the concept of morality, they accepted the idea of dictatorship much easier. PB has to push her emotions away to be able to do that, and eventually fails. Goliad is essentially the worst parts of Bubblegum, without any character at all.

Goliad is representative of PB's gut response to trauma. Whenever a tragedy happens that she sees as a failure on her part to control a situation (like when she was possessed by the Lich), her first instinct is to try to regain control. She attempted to create a successor that would be able to shoulder the responsibilities she would leave behind upon death, but as often happens when she's desperate to regain control of a bad situation, she became obsessed and single minded (staying awake for 83 hours straight to complete her project), and as a result her efforts to regain control just caused even more problems. It's only when she steps back, takes a larger view, and allows others to truly help her (Finn and Stormo) that she's able to truly regain control and fulfill her responsibilities as a ruler. I will stay on the hill that Bubblegum is every bit as much the tragically flawed but ultimately extremely human and lovable character that Ice King is

Goliad is a lot like bubblegum when she was younger, before she went through all the events that made her into the controlling person she is at this point in the show. Except goliad seems to be even more impressionable. So while some of the controlling aspects of bubblegum made their way into goliad, much of it was influenced by Finn and Jake messing up her teaching

- Goliad is voiced by Wendy Linehan & her name comes from the name of a town in Texas where the second battle of the Texas Revolution took place which Tom Herpich thought the town had a cool-sounding name - On Princess Bubblegum's chalkboard is something similar to carbon trioxide & a poster on the wall looks like a periodic table but it is labeled "Fructology" maybe a reference to the simple sugar fructose - On the toy truck it has the word “oishii” is the Japanese word for "delicious”

While I do agree that PB’s nature to rule/dictate is in her genetic code, it also proves that she’s capable of change. After all, she herself admitted the way Goliad chose to rule with absolute control was wrong. PB DOES want to be a good ruler to benefit her kingdom, and was trying to (Or was going to if she wasn’t hella sleep deprived) teach Goliad to be more kind. However this ultimately backfired since Goliad’s nature was further nurtured by Jake and his iron fist in the classroom. It’s both a nature vs Nurture arguement. Yes, there are just some traits that we’re born with, but we can also learn how to change, expand, etc on ‘em. Basically, PB IS a gaslight Gatekeep Girlboss, but I don’t think she’s evil inherently.

@@RobbyTheRogue If that were the case, than she wouldn’t have even let Fin and Jake take care of Goliad even while sleep deprived (Also, not even create an heir in the first place) to have total authority. It’d be very easy to shape Goliad into serving PB, like a 2nd in command. I believe PB just genuinely thinks she’s doing what’s best to serve her kingdom (hence why Goliad even exists in the first place. Also, the candy citizens are…. Not the sharpest tools in the shed. I can see why PB thinks she has to have total control on things. But what I find Interesting is that PB is selfishly SELFLESS. But that’s a whole other can of words to dissect [and may also be explored in later episodes] Edit: PB also has the ability to just straight up create living beings with psychic abilities. She very much already has the power to rule over the whole world by playing God but doesn’t.

@@crimenarson5962 of course she would have, Finn is good natured and does pretty much anything she says. Why wouldn't she want even a fraction of that to rub off on Goliad? Also with the whole psychic super beings thing, she's already created powerful creatures such as ******-****'*(not spoiling for Nux) and disposes of them just as easily. Lastly she pretty much rules everything mostly relying on the princesses of different kingdoms to delegate her rule.

@@RobbyTheRogue I don’t really understand your first argument. Are you saying she wanted Goliad to be good natured and docile like Fin? Because those 2 things are a tad in conflict with each other. If PB wants someone to rule the kingdom long after she’s dead, she can’t allow Goliad to be on the more submissive ends of things. Moreover, it’s described Fin is heroic. Goliad cannot be a dictator is she has that good nature rubbed off on ‘em. If anything, that would just make them want to rebel more. As for your second argument (assuming it’s who I think you’re talking about and my memory isn’t failing me) I’m pretty sure they’re discarded bc they were potentially hazardous to others. Again, I’m not out here saying she’s a saint, but she’s by no means evil (defo a but fucked up). We also see in later episodes of her realizing she’s in the wrong (not elaborating for spoilers). I think Princess Bubblegum is just adhering to what she believes to be the best, most ethical way to rule. It’s definitely extreme and twisted, but the good intentions are still there. And eventually she’ll come to that conclusion and start changing her ways, even if it’s slow. I just can’t believe she has like, 0 care about others and only focuses on being powerful.

@@crimenarson5962 My point about her entrusting Goliad to Finn was to tone down her own traits she didn't want to deal with anyone else having while being more compliant to her, like a desire for complete control and a disregard for the safety and well being of those who are not under her direct control. Secondly they weren't hazardous they did their job and followed orders but got bored and started a fight club during off hours. She is evil, she justifies her actions but in the end Evil is selfishness to an extreme degree. Making others suffer so as to benefit herself and her people, lashing out for even small slights and pathological obsessions with revenge all scream of this selfishness. And finally she does care about others she just doesn't care enough not to hurt them when it benefits her. From using Finn as free labor and solving many of her kingdoms problems while they literally eat the trash of the ground of her kingdom(yeah its candy but off the floor is still unsanitary), she takes exorbitant taxes from people not even in the candy kingdom territory(Finn and Jake are in the Grasslands) to ensuring that no one else has any power worth anything and that she can wipe others out without any problems if it must be done. She monitors everyone says she wont anymore and goes right back to it. I don't think Bubblegum has or will change throughout the series, she just becomes more aware of it and is even more secretive about it.

Every creation made by PB is always evil, unless she makes them so stupid they can't be a threat to anyone. I love how in the bee metaphore they are both wrong. The bee does needs flowers in order to stay alive, if flowers die, so will the bee. And for PB being a leader is about what you can gain from your people as long as you get something in return, that is also a hot take. Considering for many a leader should sacrifice for the greater good.

Goliad has bad traits which are enabled by her power.(gained from bad teachings and her mother) Superman Has great traits that are enabled by his powers. Your powers are extension of you because they're tools you have. Technically that wouldn't be different from finn and Jake, these guys are dangerous yet the worst they do is be assholes and thats it. Why? because of who they are, despite having power they aren't corrupted because power doesn't corrupt unless the person already is.
