This was a lot of fun T, I really liked their knowledge and especially Russ's choices. I'm somewhat of a three cent silver geek myself so I was thrilled when he broke out the odd denominations. My prized piece is an 1871 raw that I would put somewhere in the UNC maybe MS grades, as well as an 1862 in similar condition. Trimes are a lot of fun, but I do understand the reason for them not being as "collectible". The true issue with Trimes is their rarity, which makes almost half of the set basically inaccessible to most. It is not an easy set to complete unless you have super deep pockets, and even then some of the years don't pop up very often, and again when they do its price is beyond insane. And then don't get me started on their size. I'm 32 and struggle to see the details and dates well without magnification. Scared to drop them. So many of them are bent or damaged in some way. "Oh look, an 1872 for less than $2,000....oh it has a huge hole in it." 😅 I love Trimes but boy its a tricky set to complete!

Mr. Lee, it sounds like you’re a true numismatist. I’ll be heading back up to Harlan J Berk in a couple of weeks for mor coin talk. Start thinking of some questions for me to ask!

@@TtheSilverStacker ask him about odd denominations when it comes to gold, such as the Stella and Princess. Id be interested to see what kind of ungraded trimes they have 1863-73 personally lol. Coin grading in of itself and how it affects the hobby is definitely an interesting topic. One side views it as preservation, while another side views it as kind of a scheme where there is a potential incentive for graders to safeguard certain grades due to pressures by registry set owners of high value, as a higher grade could substantially devalue a set or coin grade etc. Kind of a form of gatekeeping. An interesting topic for sure, personally I can't really afford to be grading a whole bunch of coins if any so I tend to stay away anyhow. Thanks for reading!
