Having no key notes and no graders notes is unforgivable. They are supposed to be an expert grading company. Given what people do to get higher grades, you would think adding notes would encourage resubmissions if faults are pressable. Bad for the customer and also bad for the company!!

This is the same ratio I received with 150 books. It was humbling for my own account of my grading abilities. The saving grace was that all the books were keys and the lowest grade, 8.0, still had legs. So you think the lack of graders notes has to do with the possibility that graders notes only come with the slabbing since there is a serial number to connect it to? Great video!

On the grading discrepancy… It feels like shift work, quotas and evening supervision. Having experience with Quality Control and subjective calls. To me, I suspect that the evening shifts might be getting their quota of grading even if they reject a comic. So at the end of their shift it looks like they are doing same volume but actually f’ing the 🐕. This makes a strong argument for smaller submissions and/or no pre grading. Your submission might have given a grader an easy Night Shift. My stab at a conspiracy theory. Love your content and super impressed with your DC knowledge 🤯

Great grade on the Swamp Thing! unbelievable! As far as CGC goes, I submitted 100+ books to CGC at the Baltimore comic con. Some were to be graded and 2 other batches were to be prescreened for either 9.6 or 9.8. Other i was never at 80% like your submission was, my experience was very similar. one batch was over 65% and the other was about 20%. No notes, etc. I sent CGC an email after receipt of the books and asked about the lack of comments and whether or not any of the rejected books could be improved through pressing and the response was they couldn't provide any advice on pressing. Of course, if notes were included I could determine whether or not pressing would be worth it. Is CGC rejecting books just to meet imposed turn around times? don't get it. i know grading can be subjective, but dang! i find the whole process to be very, very, very annoying. (may have left a "very." lol)

I don't think it makes sense to add a notation to each label for every book since almost every comic is the first appearance of a character. That doesn't mean that because you have a character appearing in the book for a first time that its a "key" issue or has any significance. I personally like that they don't add the notations unless there is a first appearance of actual significance or some other significant event. Great collection by the way.

Grading is subjective. two different graders probably. one was much harder to get a 9.8 out of. as far as the grader notes, pretty much every book is a key if you want to put every first appearance, every single event that happens in a book. honestly i think it's silly to put a first appearance unless it's a major character. even major character is subjective but many of the characters you mentioned I've never even heard of.
