I'm doing something similar, albeit a bit longer of a time frame. I graduate college May 2025 and my goal is to study Japanese every single day to see how much I can learn in about a year. I'm gifting myself a trip to Japan as my reward for sticking with my college studies even through the rough patches of my life and it would be really cool to be actually able to speak to the locals while I'm there. I don't really even have a plan to use my Japanese specifically after that, but I enjoy the media, culture, and learning languages so I don't see myself quitting after that. Plus, "Proficient at Japanese" is a good thing to have on a resume as there are a lot of Japanese companies in the computer science field I'm specializing in. Maybe I'll even take the JLPT test next year to get some official certification.

Hi i‘m japanese who grew up in eu, i just wanted to tell you that i really appreciate that you put in a lot of effort in learning japanese :)! I hope that you will have a great vacation. I‘m sure you will have a great time and that you will understand a lot. Just keep in mind that consistency is key
@ritchiart7 ай бұрын
YES YES YES! I know. I've studied Japanese and it dropped off before. I understand your message because alot of people study intensively and burn out. I'm afraid I might do it but I've right now I use youtube as a great accountability partner haha
@NKABoX7 ай бұрын
@@ritchiart that‘s acrually a good idea, because accountability is what keeps you going(sense of responsibility). Don‘t overdo yourself, take time for yourself and yourself only e.g what you like to do/be passionate about and forget your surroundings. If you keep that balance the studying will come easy, because it‘s a part of your daily routine :) I‘m studying medicine, so i know the feeling of burning out just of text books haha. I have to correct myself: Balance and consistency are key

You got way more energy than I have trying to learn Japanese, it's a struggle, especially those dreaded r sounds dangit. Also is it just me or did you slip in the gate sound effect from Ocarina of Time on that Patreon bit?
@ritchiart7 ай бұрын
yeah those r sound and the h sounds are quite difficult in the beginning. R sounds are like mixing hard L with hard Rrrr sound. That's why in Animes if they say Reo we hear Leo. I might have slipped in something frmo ocarina of time yes :D
