This is my guide to building a clean and modular factory that produces 20 reinforced iron plates per minute.
Input Requirements:
240 Iron Ore
Power Requirements:
At least 116 MW
What you'll need:
2x MK1(@100%) using pure nodes
8x Smelter
16x Constructor
4x Assembler
Check out my 100% efficient Rotor Factory Guide here:

Nah, you can functionally build something identical, even if it's not at perfect 90 degree angles and encased in walls. Just look at your input and output requirements and build what you need to fulfill them for maximum efficiency.

For anyone trying this out, it IS actually necessary to placing the machines atop the sandwich layer before placing the beltwork below in the sandwich layer. I didn't use fly, so I tried to finish the sandwich layer before placing the machines and I spent an hour trying to figure out why the game would not place the machines down. There's no clearance issue that shows or anything. The game just will not place the machines down if the sandwich layer has mergers and splitter underneath where you're trying to place the machines.

@@Scalti nono the flying is fine and yes, it did take me a good 3 hours atleast id guess with all the running back and forth haha i did finnish it and now that i watch it work it seems that 2 of the assemblers have to wait for plates while the other 2 assemblers have to wait for screws. Im running 120 iron ore per minute into it and the floors are as follows 1: everything is melted into ingots and move on to the next floor 2: There are 4 constructors making rods and 6 constructors making plates 3: 6 constructors making screws 4: The 4 assemblers making reinforced plates Its still spitting out reinforced plates but i have no idea if its 20/min (since im bad at math haha). Does this happen in your build as well or did i do something wrong at some point?

I didn't know about input and output rates of smelters and constructors and you did the work for all of us and that's amazing ^^. This was an awesome tutorial! You could be more efficient using alternate recipes, but I guess hard drive hunting is a little advanced for the early-midgame where this would be most useful. Very well done!

Nice one. Looking at this I cannot think of a better addition to the game than a copy-paste and blueprint features. I hope devs will be adding those things in eventually

This is ingenious. Nice and clean. The only thing I would change is putting screw constructors 3 on each side.

Don't forget guys, you can use 2 power shards in a miner harvesting from a normal node to affectively output the same amount of ore as if you had the miner on a pure node. The tradeoff is a little extra power consumption, but it's a nice thing to know if you're building your factory in an location that doesn't have a pure node in the immediate area. You can also double the size of this factory by using a mk.2 miner with 2 power shards and a mk.4 conveyor on the miner (240 items/minute baseline with 200% clock speed is 480 items/minute, which perfectly matches the transfer rate of the mk.4 belt if that's something that matters to you).

WOW I am impressed that this was your first guide its very comfortable watch and you explained it very good so it’s nice and easy to rebuilt. I am personally not a fan of the sandwich layer tech but sure it is a very easy and functional way to connect everything. In my Building, I would wider the space for the belt work in the sandwich layer upwards, so I can have a more cleaner setup. But nevertheless, a really good Guide and I’m looking forward to use it by myself

Completely understandable. It can definitely be a challenge. My goal is to help those starting out with relatively simple and very effective factories to carry them into the mid game. Look forward to more content in the near future.
