Kinda reminds me of the 5 axis machines we had at B & W in Barberton, Ohio back in the 80’s, but B & W’s were much, much bigger. They built nuclear steam generators for the Navy. We had some with nutating heads and contour cutting (“U” heads). I still don’t see too many of these around. The Ford plant up in Cleveland used to have a “U” head on their large 5 axis mill for molds. You could cut a reverse taper (or contour) in a bore with a “U” head. Almost every shop I ever worked at at some unusual machine that no one else had, and it’s job was specific to the product they built. The more shops you worked at, the more you were exposed to the exotic equipment. I enjoyed it. Soaked it all up like a sponge.

Hi, what a machine. Such a high RPM for a large machine. As I said in one of my earlier emails I worked for Seco Tools here in New Zealand and I understand the difference in the range of milling holders. You mentioned a BT taper with double contact (Big Plus I think it was called) but they are not as good as HSK. The problem is when the machine operates at high RPM the spindle grows slightly and rigidity can be lost. The HSK being hollow grows with the spindle and maintains double contact across the range of RPM. You may like to cover this in one of your very explicit videos in the future. Cheers Ian

Man Titan, your passion for this work is awesome to see! Wish you would’ve been around when we were developing the 5-spindle profilers at Cincinnati, and working with Kennametal when those Harvi U8X mills were also in development. First time we did the “bobsled” cut in 6Al4v with all 5-spindles…it was awesome! I’ll remember those times forever! Thanks for doing what you’re doing!

These videos are nice, but let’s be honest: The CNC machine tool business in America is almost dead. We hardly produce anything compared to what comes out of Asia. China laughs at our pathetic equipment. The American tool and die industry, and CNC business won’t recover until factories return to the United States, but there is no indication that that will ever happen. Mexico is much a friendlier place to do business. These overblown KZbin videos are designed to make people think that U.S. industry is still in the game. It’s not. Mexico and China took away all of our factories with assistance from Washington. Washington actually wants America to go bankrupt; that’s been the plan for fifty years. So they got rid of the factories, made the legal environment impossibly complex, and declared war on men. In a communist country, everyone is poor together. So we don’t need factories, or anything. Long live the revolution!

HSK also has a much higher pull force than any ISO,CAT or BT spindle which only improves as the speed increases. I've been on a HSK-100 where the spindle can go at 12k RPM, mainly because the weight of the tool is a lot less than the standard taper tooling The next step up further is Capto but there's not a lot of spindles what have this built in

I made a comment on your recent video "The Most Unreal Mind-Blowing CNC Machining You Will Ever See in Life" it could be construed positive or negative. What i said was its a 50 taper machine with hi torque - use it. No big deal. You guys push things to the limit and thats impressive to see. However some of your videos on the 40 taper mori show the tool clearly pulling the machine and spindle around during the cut. Kudos for thrashing the machine and finding the limits but my advise having used large machines is don't do that with the Ibarmia. Something will break. The spindle on these machines is the weakest link. Anyhow who i am to give advise to the professionals.
