I have that same screen, and been using it for 2 years now. Super fast setup and very durable! I live in a warm climate, so I set mine up a day in advance (ok to leave outside in light rain) so the sun can get the wrinkles out of the screen in time. Good video!

Thanks for the tip! A friend of ours borrowed our screen and unfortunately they didn't have the tie down straps in place and strong wind blew it over and the screen now has a 2 inch diameter stretch "bubble" where it landed on the arm of a chair. It's relatively flat after leaving it out int he sun a couple days, but you can see a couple ripples where it is. Any idea how to remedy that?

It's much easier if you don't push out the sides of the frame, until you attach the screen. Then push the sides out to lock in frame. We have the same screen, just push them out slowly, but the screen then stretches with it.

Great tip, thanks! We left the screen on it for a few days and now we don't really have a problem getting it on the frame fully opened. It was just the initial stretching out that was a bit tricky.

Hi Phil. I searched through your reviews to find a review for an outdoor screen and projector and came across this one but it’s 2 years old. With c-19 doing it’s thang, we’re still looking for ways to fill time with kids while maintaining distance and liked the idea of a lawn movie! Can you please recommend a budget friendly [unemployment check] screen and projector? Added challenge, movie will be shown not in complete darkness as the sun isn’t setting until almost 9pm now. Oh and prefer it has a stand and bag for ease of movement and setup. Thank you!!!
@ReviewedByPhil
@ReviewedByPhil 4 жыл бұрын
I think I already responded via IG with some recommendations for you, but I'll reply here as well in case anyone else is interested. I actually still use this screen, but it's setup indoors in our living room. It's still my top recommendation for outdoors because it has an opaque backing, which helps when light is still present and the frame is quite durable. The only drawback is that the vinyl screen is quite fragile and prone to stretching, wrinkles, and can be damaged quite easily but not so easily cleaned if stained or marked up. For current pricing, check the link in the description of the video. I know COVID-19 has driven up prices for these products in recent months. So if you're looking for a more budget friendly option, I can recommend this one: geni.us/7phboK [Amazon Affiliate Product Link] It has weighted bases on the legs for some stability that can be sandbagged, though there aren't anchor points on top if there are strong winds so you just have to be mindful of weather conditions when watching outdoors. The screen itself is lighter weight and made from soft semi-transparent fabric, so you can have front or rear projection and it's easier to clean and more durable, but you do need it to be fairly dark for good visibility. As for a projector recommendation, this Crenova 1080p native output is from a brand that I usually recommend: geni.us/5yQOBJ [Amazon Affiliate Product Link] Its price is still reasonable, it has a decent brightness rating, and I’ve had great experiences with their other projectors. I hope these insights are helpful for any folks looking for outdoor movie solutions during these strange and unusual times. Stay safe everyone!

Gr8 video, one question is dat possible to use another fabric reflective projector screen on dat frame instead of using same dat projector screen which u shown in dis video? Thks.
@ReviewedByPhil
@ReviewedByPhil 4 жыл бұрын
Sure, I guess you can use another screen, but it'll have to have the snap buttons in the same place in order for it to fit together. The other option to to get one of the soft fabric "sock" screens and stretch it out over top of the frame. However, I'm not sure where you can buy the screens separately.

Thank you for this video, very helpful. I wonder, can you just hang the screen on a wall instead of attaching the legs to the frame to save space?
@ReviewedByPhil
@ReviewedByPhil 4 жыл бұрын
Sure, I don't see why not. There aren't any built-in wall hanging features on the upper frame the screen attaches to, but with a bit of planning it could be done so the hangers would be hidden behind the screen.

@ReviewedByPhil
@ReviewedByPhil 2 жыл бұрын
While nearly all projectors will work with this screen, my two recommendations if you're using it outside is to get one with high lumens (brightness), and possibly a built-in battery, if you're not going to be near a plug/power source, like this one: geni.us/11A37AN [Amazon Affiliate Product Link]. Most projectors will only work well after sunset, and there are few, if any, projectors that work great on a bright sunny day. If you can run an extension cord for power, these are generally less expensive, so this projector might work well for that: geni.us/DyRKm [Amazon Affiliate Product Link]

Hi can you hook up Bluetooth to it ? Or what else can I stream to watch KZbin or movies without a cable box
@ReviewedByPhil
@ReviewedByPhil 2 жыл бұрын
Use of this screen will require a separate video projector unit, as shown at 3:10. Depending on the model projector, it may have Bluetooth or WiFi capability and an Android operating system that would let you install apps like KZbin, Amazon Prime Video, or Netflix so you can stream video from your preferred streaming platform. Most budget level projectors, like this one: geni.us/X66EUQo [Amazon Affiliate Product Link] need some other input source, like a smartphone or streaming stick like Chromecast or Fire TV, connected with an HDMI cable as the video input source.

Was wondering if I can substitute this for my regular tv what ya think....
@ReviewedByPhil
@ReviewedByPhil 5 жыл бұрын
It depends. If the room you're using the screen and projector is is sufficiently dark, without much ambient light during the day, then I think it would be fine. Or if you watch TV primarily at night or have a sufficiently powerful projector that can overcome the washing out effect of having light in the room then I think you'd be fine. For reference, we do use this as a replacement for the TV in our living room. We use room darkening curtains over the windows and have a 1080p 4200 lumen projector that we use with the screen. We do have to turn out the lights in the room and dim the lights in the adjacent room to have a good picture though. We don't watch TV during the day so it's usually not a problem.

Hm, not that I've seen. You may have to reach out to the manufacturer for a quote: elitescreens.net/customer-feedback/ I'm not sure about compatibility because of the button placement on the screen vs. the frame, so you'd have to make sure one can attach to the other before purchasing.

Hi Phil can you explain how to set this up on a Laptop for interior use. Thank you
@ReviewedByPhil
@ReviewedByPhil 3 жыл бұрын
Well, it's a PVC projection screen. So you can set the screen up anywhere indoors or outdoors exactly how I've demonstrated in the video. Just assemble the frame, then attach the PVC screen using the snap buttons. Since this screen is not an electronic device, you can't just "plug" a laptop into it. If you want to get your laptop's video output on the screen, you will need to connect a projector to your laptop, for example, the Vankyo V630: geni.us/X66EUQo [Amazon Affiliate Product Link] You would use an HDMI or VGA cable to connect your laptop to the projector and then the projector will transmit a beam of light onto the screen so you can see the image/video on it. See 3:09 for a demonstration.

What projector are you using? It looks tiny, but seems to pack a powerful punch!
@ReviewedByPhil
@ReviewedByPhil 5 жыл бұрын
The projector I used in this video was the GP90, which was later succeeded by the GP100, which you can find here: geni.us/0kBq4 both display a native output resolution of up to 720P, and look great for the price. While still considered a "mini" projector, it's not super tiny and has a footprint of about 11"W x 9"L x 4". However, I just got the next upgrade, the F40: geni.us/YoUz [Amazon Affliate Product Link] which finally is an affordable budget level projector that puts out native 1080P with a similar size footprint. The picture quality improvement is definitely noticeable on large format screens.

I'm getting married next year.an wanna use this outside as we get married an have pix shown while the ceremony..does it show up good during the day?
@ReviewedByPhil
@ReviewedByPhil 6 жыл бұрын
I would say if you're going to project outside during the day, even with the highest powered projector out there it's going to look faded and washed out. It really comes down to the projector and not the screen that affects the image quality and clarity. I think the screen would work great if it's tethered and sandbagged. But you'll probably get the best brightness with a high lumen projector if the screen is under a tent where it'll get shade from the sun (or indoors), and during twilight/nighttime hours when natural light isn't competing with the projector. If you're renting a projector, make sure to mention you want to use it outside during the day and see what the A/V company has to offer you. If you're buying one that you're going to keep after the wedding for a theater room, I can suggest the Epson 1440: geni.us/byYo6 [Amazon Affiliate Link] which has amazing quality but it's not cheap. Do not buy a projector $200 and under expecting it to perform well outdoors during daytime. It will not.

How many lumens is your projector? Is it short throw? I'm looking to use a budget android projector so wondering how those would work. Especially in daytime.
@ReviewedByPhil
@ReviewedByPhil 5 жыл бұрын
No, I don't have a short throw projector, so I set mine about 12-13 feet from the screen. The lumens of my current projector is 4200, it's the F40 projector: geni.us/A8fd [Amazon Affiliate Product Link] which for me is fine because we only watch TV at night and we can darken the room we use the projector in, and watch movies outdoors after it gets dark. I have yet to own a projector that does great during the daytime with lots of ambient light, so don't really have a recommendation for that.

It is a projector screen, so basically just a blank canvass. You will need a video projector, like the one shown at 3:48 on the left hand side of the video. This machine projects an image onto the screen, using light and a glass lens from a distance of about 12 ft away. The video source can be an electronic device with a video output, like a DVD player, video game console, cable box, or even a mobile phone. If you'd like to get a better understanding on these kinds of devices, check out my review of one here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fmKupZmgmdV5bck

Hi. I am a solo entertainer who wants to have some sort of background video behind me to look more aesthetic. Is there some kind of projection equipment that can be set up "behind" the screen? I wouldn't be able to set up a projector in front of me as that would restrict the audience and get in the way. Thanks for your advice if you choose to answer me.
@ReviewedByPhil
@ReviewedByPhil 4 жыл бұрын
With this screen, rear projection is not possible because the back of the screen is a solid black. The only option that may work for you with this particular screen is an ultra short-throw projector, like this one: geni.us/8BYM7Lc [Amazon Affiliate Product Link] which is placed slightly lower and just in front of the screen, allowing you to stand in front of the projector while it displays behind you. If you want rear projection with a standard projector, you could use a translucent fabric screen like this one: geni.us/7phboK [Amazon Affiliate Product Link] but you'd need to ensure you have the 12 - 13 feet behind the screen to ensure the image projected is large enough to fill the screen.

The screen looks great, but any projected image quality is mostly dependent on the lumens and brightness of your projector moreso than the screen itself. That said, any projector that outputs less than 6000 lumens won't give you any sort of a visible image on any screen in direct sunlight.

Sure, I don't see why not. As long as your projector can handle the frame rate and resolution of the game I think it'd be great. The thing is, for most projectors that'll mean using a room that nearly pitch black, without windows or ambient sources of light that could ruin the projected image quality.

I found a similar type screen here: geni.us/7phboK [Amazon Affiliate Product Link] That's in stock and still reasonably priced. It's design, however, is different, and it's lighter weight with a stretchy cloth screen that is semi-transparent, so you'll need pretty dark conditions to use it; that allows you to also project from the rear if you wanted to.

@ReviewedByPhil
@ReviewedByPhil 5 жыл бұрын
Because this screen is made of PVC material, it is pretty tough. It's a plastic flexible fabric that is completely opaque and highly durable. However, it is not puncture resistant to sharp objects and tends to stretch or deform if left in contact with other objects for very long periods of time. It's best to fold and put the screen away when not in use.

Here is one you can buy on Ebay that will ship to India: ebay.to/3eUPg40 [Amazon Affiliate Product Link] The screen comes in various sizes. The price is $159 for the size closest to the one I reviewed in this video.

Edit: The projection screen ended up being safe and sound indoors Looks like it's too cold where you're at around the time of this video, so not sure why you'd want to watch this outside, lol

Hah, I only set it up outside because it was the only place I had floor space enough to lay out the frame etc. to film the process. Once I had it up, it was easy enough to fit vertically in other rooms.

I got mine on Amazon here: geni.us/N9QSW [Amazon Affiliate Product Link] The size I have, 100" diagonal, is currently out of stock but they have slightly larger screens that are 110" and 120" diagonal under the same listing for around the same price, which is a pretty great deal if you have a big enough space for it. Just make sure you order the the front projection version if you want to set the projector in front of the screen, since with the rear projection you'll need 12-13 ft behind the screen unless you have a short throw projector: geni.us/BtGBbu0 [Amazon Affiliate Product Link] I've always wanted one of these but it's not in my budget!

That's... a really high price for what this is. They are, in normal times, half that price or less. Also, I don't recommend drawing on them with chalk or any thing else for that matter. The material is easily stained by colors and other abrasives which can permanently damage the screen, making it unsuitable for projection use. If you only want to use this as a chalkboard or drawing surface, that is your choice, but you can certainly find a better product for that purpose that is much less expensive and better suited for that task.
