Thank you for this video! You have saved me a calibration and repair charge. The AC function on my 195A was all over the place. I never thought to check the rear panel switch and its connections for oxidization. My meter came from some corrosive environment, there is horrible corrosion on the BNC's and the nuts that hold the multi pin data connector on the back panel. Now after working the switch and the connections on top of it (inside) a few times, the meter is in perfect calibration in all functions!!

Oh wow! Had one of those that I sold on eBay. Great piece of kit. Got it from a place I used to work at in around 1999 :). It had a dodgy switch that wouldn't latch on if remember.

@@TonyAlbus Yep, it was the switch on the back now i look at your video, but they were a common part in the olden days, so not a real issue to replace then :) Good luck finiding one now..

Hi Tony @TonyAlbus we have a Keithley 193 which was given to us. we are not sure about the accuracy of any output from it. we have done basic test using resistance measurements. we used a multi-turn 10K resistor and at full deflection keithley outputs 20K!! we have repeated the experiment with lower know resistors 5.6K and the output appear to be correct/close. Any ideas.

The 193 is very nice, i think i have one without the AC and amps... maybe check/clean the frond/back switch if you have one. with good quality contact cleaner. WD40 has pro contact cleaner

You are lucky. You are one of the few who got a 195 with the option 1950 installed, which is by the way the upper alumnium case. Without this option the 195 is just a DC Volts and Ohms meter. It cannot even measure DC Amps not to speak about any AC ! Nearly all 195 you can buy today come without the option 1950.

I have a Keithley 196a which has another problem, but I may try that on it, just in case... That never came to my mind! Small but very interesting channel indeed. Discovered it on lbry.tv.
