Michael Mann left the show and let Dick "Law & Order" Wolf took control of the show. This was when you saw less of Izzy and Zito and Switek weren't quite a comedy team anymore.

@Stefano Pavone I feel the same way. This episode, Theresa, legitimately felt like a Miami Vice ripoff scaled up to 10. It is entertaining in a different way than seasons one and two.

Yeah, I was surprised to discover how long Helena Bonham Carter was around in show business, since I first began paying attention to her after "Fight Club" (as a kid, I knew about "A Room with a View", but didn't pay it any mind; I didn't care for the view yet). I thought she was about 24 back in 1999, but wow, even in 'Theresa' here she's such a baby.

NBC originally wanted to spin off the characters of Officers Renko (a white cop raised in the South) and Hill (a black cop raised in the East) from Hill Street Blues (1981) into their own show, but decided not to when it was discovered that they were two of the most popular characters with viewers of the show. However, network executives liked the idea, and eventually it was incoporated into the characters of Sonny Crockett (white cop raised in the South) and Ricardo Tubbs (black cop raised in the East) on this show.
