If you can do a marathon, you can ABSOLUTELY run an ultra! More walking/eating breaks balances out the extra miles. You'll love it!

Not true - between roughly mid-May and nearly the end of July it does not get dark AT ALL in the UK. It is twilight all night. Same applies to Canada. From memory anywhere north of Dijon.

The emotional roller-coaster of ultras. 😂 Doing a 2.2km loop for 12 hours and your crew never knows which version of you (cheery, sobbing, aggro, zombie, etc) is going to come past!

This has given me so much confidence to complete the Ultra Challenge Yorkshire 100k continuous, in two weeks. My first ever, with the furthest I've ever run being 25k, but I've already processed it into 8, 15k(ish) runs with rest stops. It was soooooo nice to see that it's ok to walk or Jeff as I call it. Jeff will be my friend on this adventure!

It's so true, I did my first 5k in July 2020, did 10k the following October, HM in March 2021, got a marathon in October and have already booked onto a backyard ultra race for June next year. 😂

Not a hundred miles, not yet anyway. Main race this year is the Scenic Rim Ultra, a 105km run on the Gold Coast Hinterland in Queensland. For a practice run, we are doing a local event called 3 Marathons in 3 Days this coming weekend, held in the hills behind Cairns, Far North Queensland. If I get through these, then a 100 miler is possible. Coming from the South of UK, I loved watching this, memories of such beautiful countryside

I would love to be able to run that distance. I would love to run it in England. I am absolutely in love with the english countryside. I also love that it seems that the gras is so short everywhere. Is it grased by sheep? Here we have so much high gras (Germany) at the trails I have to check for ticks every few meters or else I get to anxious 😔

I've had bite valve problems with a whole manner of flasks, you'd think they design them better. Worst one was recently when I was using tailwind, which has salt in it... my eyes!!!!

What is your average HR during the runs? Do you see it creep up too high going that distance?

I've been incorporating HR training, and was really surprised by my 50k 2 weeks ago... as many do, I pushed it, and was in and out of the 160's for the first 20 miles. The last 11 miles I settled into a slow jog, and my HR dropped to a steady 140! Wish I'd done that earlier, but I was glad to find there's no threshold, it's never too late to drop my HR!
