I’m at 25 miles on my novablast 4. Been using it and the vomero and brooks gts for my daily runs. Love the novablast and vomero for comfort. Love the videos. Escaped the hotel room. lol 😂 my Sunday run was just 8 miles this week as I’m doing a half this comming Sunday plan to pace just under 11 min pace. I’m at 245 miles for the year, you’re probably around 1000. Lots of respect for the work you put in both on your runs and the videos and the spell site I know all take a lot of time. Appreciate all of the info! Buz Aldren. Lol😂

Couldn’t agree more with your take on the NB 4 and the Rebel 4. I just started increasing mileage in December and bought some NB at launch. I prefer these to my Triumph 20s for long runs. Just picked up Rebel 4 last week and it’s looking like these 2 are going to be the center of my rotation this year. Loving both… will probably be checking for discounts at the end of the year when their cycle runs through to double up.

Nice Review Mr Hobby Jogger, like the honest indepth information. The Asics NB3's had a TR model with more aggressive sole, hoping Asics would consider creating a model for the NB 4's, I just saw on the Asics website that there's a TR version of the NB4

Matt from DOR said that a lot of shoes intended to be faster have that disconnected heel and forefoot. The Endorphin Speed seems to have it, too. I pulled out my Novablast 3 for a couple of runs and they felt more protective than the Deviate Nitro 2 and no slappiness as a midfoot striker; too bad I bought them 1/2 size too small. They do have a Novablast 4 TR for those who need extra grip. I'm trying to increase my mileage (a little) and I agree with you in feeling like I need a little extra protection. Enjoy your vacation.
@Fozzee.19709 ай бұрын
Speed 4 has that curve on one side only on the midsole too. I felt a disconnect too. The 4s have gone back.

Novablast 4 tr is out now. I am ordering a pair. I do really easy trails and road running, but I live in Trondheim in Norway and it rains quite alot. Heard the Tr of the 3 was good for wet conditions on roads, so hopefully it will be a good road to trail shoe.
@justSTUMBLEDupon5 ай бұрын
What’s weird is that you can’t find any reviews on the trail versions. I’m not sure if it’s because it’s exactly the same or just no one is interested. The tread is different. Seems like the “lugs” are a little deeper.

Yeah definitely max cushion now - not as soft as max cushion shoes like the nimbus and 1080 but very comfortable and protective

"The rubber is terrible, but it will be terrible forever" :D Yeah, i think they went for durability above everything else. Mach 5 without a proper outsole was much better on wet and i think the durability was ok. On most shoes the midsole dies 1st anyway. Nova 4 is generally a good workhorse shoe for everyday runs. Not exciting, not energetic but comfy and durable. And it definitely needs some time to break in.

Greet from Indonesia, thanks for great review. Right now I Had Saucony triumph 21 (for recovery and very easy run), boston 12 (for daily trainer and tempo session), and superblast (for long run and race day). are you recommend novablast 4 for replacing my boston 12 (already reach 600 miles/820km)? I prefer more firmer shoes than soft and bouncy shoes. Hope your channel growing fast, your analysis is very deep and very helpful

You sayin Japan doesn't rain is not true because Japan has the rainy season and generally rainy and humid country. Anyways it says they use AHAR outsole. So guess that keeps the price low but not so good traction in wet conditions. Maybe the trampoline inspired outsole design with AHAR is not good. I do hear other reviewers say NB4 can be slippery so agree to get something else when it's wet.

I vote triumph 20/21 for the most basic but effective. Brooks ghost and a 12mm drop, would be good for my Achilles tendinitis. But I need to sleep on the brooks as I have way to many shoes. 😂

@davidg91205 ай бұрын
@@torifogg7736 nothing is good per say but higher drop shoes will take some pressure off the Achilles. If I walk around on tip toes my Achilles feels great but when I run it hurts so I have been going for higher drop shoes and even adding heal cups to some of them.

@supwell9 ай бұрын
If you want another protective shoe to rotate with the 1080 then it would make sense - but they are best for the same types of runs. 1080 is a lot softer than the Novablast but I like them both for those relaxed everyday miles. If you want something firmer to pair with the 1080 then it would be a good choice

Do you think stack heights will get much higher than the current level for the mainstream of the market? I've heard some industry watchers say the next big trend will be toward cutting mass, and in conjunction with continuing advances in foam engineering, will feed a downward trend in stack heights.
@supwell2 ай бұрын
Yeah I agree the next frontier for speed/race shoes is weight. For training shoes it's definitely bounce and comfort, so the stack heights will keep going up. In my experience, 47mm to 50mm seems to be the point where it no longer feels like running in a regular shoe anymore and starts to feel really unnatural. Also you have to make foams pretty firm or add a stiffening agent like a plate once you get to 50mm. So with the current technology I don't see running shoes going much past 50mm without the ride experience feeling super weird

Would you say that all Novablast models are “pure running products” and not casual, walking shoes?

You mentioned these are a size 10.5 for you- what size do you wear in Vaporfly 3? Thanks!
@kristof1658 ай бұрын
Hey, please advise on the size. In all the running shoes I order, I take US size 12, which means an insole length of 30 cm. I then have sufficient toe room for long distances. Asics, on the other hand, states that size US 12 has an insole length of 29.5 cm. Only size US 12.5 is a 30 cm insole. Can anyone relate this to their size in the Novablast 4 - is it better to look at the US size or the insole length?

Man, I go back through your past videos and I appreciate the work you do.. I’m preparing to start my first marathon training , and I’m looking to build my stack .. I have the Triumph 21 and Tempus at about 200 miles , Speed 3 at 150, Rebel V4 at 125, and my race day is the Pro 3 at about 110, which still feels awesome as I raced in a Half last weekend. Long story short , I am looking for my Saturday long run shoe. I’ve been eyeing the Novablast 4 and the NB SC Trainer V3. I tested the SCv3 and it felt firm, but I hear it softens up . I am leaning towards to the Novablast 4 with the value and what it does.. May I have your thoughts sir ?

hey man, i would really appreciate your suggestion on the sizing for Novablast 4. because i think theyre using different sizing in CM compare to the sizing used in other brands like new balance. because here in indonesia for the bigger size, Novablast are only available for US11 (28.5CM) and US12 (29.5CM). and i most comfortable with a 29CM (which is US11 for my new balance 1080) i consider myself as a bigger runner with 6'1 ft and 210 lbs, and try to condition myself to be back in shape by using max cushioned shoes in the past 4 months for my daily slow runs. now im exploring other shoes options for my daily runs but still able to absorb those impacts and protect my knees & legs from the heel striking/landing. oh by the way, i recently saw your channel and already watched 15 videos in last saturday alone haha. really love it. very objective, with awesome detail, and a proper video duration in a very entertaining way. gain 1 subscriber from indonesia ✌😁❤

With all due respect I gotta disagree with Yowana about the NB4's suitability as a lifestyle shoe. I'm on a max heart rate restriction because of a cardiological issue. So I walk a lot, typically over 5 miles per day, some carefully controlled (zone 1/2) jogging mixed in. A lot of my walking is accomplished by taking walks during the day at the office. So most of my running shoes are also walking shoes. I have NB4s, SL2s, Cliftons, Hurricane 24s, and Cloud 5s in my 'walk/jog' rotation, and I find the NB4s to be excellent in this capacity, as comfortable as any of them except the Hurricanes. And I think they look cool! (I have the black/blue/neon yellow colorway.) De gustibus non est disputandam, I guess lol

this one or hoka mach 6 - both are $140. get the mach 6 if you want something light, bouncy and fun. it's a great shoe for up to 90 minutes and will have a lot more pop than what you're running in now. the novablast 4 is a good choice if you want a little more support - it's a great shoe for bigger runners and long runs an hour+ but can be on the firm side and feel like too much cushion for shorter runs. i'd go with the mach 6 and then if you feel like you're maxing out its capabilities doing a lot of longer runs, add a second shoe with more cushion like the novablast or a plated shoe. but for now mach 6 will be a nice upgrade

There is a TR option for light trails (and rain / a bit of snow) available. The shoe is 20-30g havier but fixes the extremly bad outsole at least.
