Hello, block from layer X to "layer 0"? Now I know how to do it. People like you contribute to making the internet a beautiful tool. Thank you for the post of this video and for my answer.

I noticed that only when the entity is selected does it become a dashed line indicating selection. Is there a way to setup Librecad so that when the pointer is close to an entity, the entity goes dashed or reacts in some way before clicking select it? This could help in crowded entity situations so that one doesn’t select what they don’t want to select.

Interesting question Mark. I don't think there is a way to do what you'd like. However, maybe separating crowded multiple entities into separate layers would allow you to have better control over what you are selecting. (Just make invisible /turn off the layers that don't contain the entity that you want to select. Thanks for your question and for watching.

thanks alot, i wanted to know how to move certain lines to a different layer, it should have been more strait forward.

I agree, it should have been more straight forward. All I can say is that because this program runs on Windows, Mac, and Linux, maybe programming the more straight forward way for Windows users maybe would not have worked for Mac or Linux. I'm not sure, I'm just guessing here. I do know that maintaining 3 different versions of the program for the 3 different OS's would be a royal pain. The good news is that once you understand how to do it and practice a few times, I don't think it is too bad. Thanks for your comment and for watching.

Hello, I would like to learn how to modify shapes (entities) to exact values. For example, I want to modify a rectangle which is 1.22x2.33 to 1.000x2.000. The manuals don't explain well. Spent 2 hours trying to figure it out. Thank you

Hi George. There are a couple different ways to do this. Some methods may be more attractive to you then others. 1) You could start a new layer and redraw the rectangle to the correct dimensions. If you snap to the grid this makes the lines spot on (just make sure the grid is set to the proper size). Switch back to the original layer and delete the first triangle. Use the Move/Copy command to move the new triangle to the original layer. 2) You can remain on the current layer and draw the rectangle in a different spot in your drawing. Then delete the original rectangle and move the new one into position (use the Move/Copy command). 3) You can click on each line you want to edit (this selects the line) then left mouse click and drag one of the end points to the new position. If you are snapping to the grid, this makes a very accurate line. You can drag each end point to a new spot until you get what you want. 4) You could draw lines using the Command line (I have some videos that shows how to do this). The easiest option is probably #3. Please let me know how you make out with a follow-up comment here. I hope this helps. Thanks for your question and for watching.
