@01:45 Agree with Simon. I think a significant number of Singaporeans buy HDB (>3 rooms) with the idea of settling long term and not use housing as asset speculation, including yours truly. I'm living at my flat purchased by my father during the late 1980s until the lease expires or my life expires, whichever comes first. I don't even dare think of buying another home. Since I'm in my mid 40s, single and risk averse. Secondly my job doesn't generate that kind of income ; Working as a technician for 20 years. Last gross pay slightly less than 3K. I can't be servicing debts with that kind of salary.

Hey good to have you back Munster! That’s a good point, I wonder what are the numbers like! I think a lot of people don’t bother speculating on property, Warren Buffett, the richest investor included! So no need to risk if it’s uncomfortable or irrational for your situation ✌🏻

3-room HDB has 2 bedrooms only, can only legally rent out 1 spare bedroom. 10:40

Yes you’re right! Thanks for pointing out. Can only rent spare rooms Until MOP that is, unless it’s PLH then different, and all that is still subject to hdb approval too

Good point. Hdb is an asset but not a speculative tool. If u wanna speculate, go private but dont complain expensive. It is just free market

Agree, the difficulty is drawing the line. Because anything that’s an asset, there will be a lot of speculators… well, people even speculate on non assets like soccer, horses or cards 🤣
